MLB Postseason Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 10/17
Mariners vs. Blue Jays Predictions
Just like that, the series in the ALCS is knotted at 2 games apiece! The Blue Jays brought their bats into Seattle, and the timing couldn’t have been better for them. They’ll face off again against Bryce Miller for the 2nd time in the series, and Kevin Gausman will showdown against this Mariners offense.Â
With both pitchers having already played in Game 1, I like the edge the hitters have in getting to see them again. They have the in-game scouting of what makes them tick, and that’s huge within the matchups. Bryce Miller has been excellent in the postseason so far with a 2.38 ERA and 7 hits allowed over just 11.1 innings. I think he struggles tonight, though, against a red-hot Blue Jays lineup that has the highest isolated power mark in the postseason at .246. Toronto also rarely strikes out, so that means many at-bats should be long and meticulous for Miller. I don’t think he is long for this game tonight, so give me the under on 12.5 outs tonight for the Mariners' starting pitcher.Â
In addition to that, I like the Blue Jays lineup a lot against Miller today, as he doesn’t give up many runs, but you can hit him, especially the right-handed batters, as he allowed a .274 average against them this season. That means big man Vladimir Guerrero could have a big day, as he has all postseason long. Vlad is hitting .455 this postseason with a 1.470 OPS, which are just ridiculous numbers. As long as his hits/runs/RBIs prop remains at 1.5, I am going to bet the over even if he is a lock to get walked a few times.Â
- Pick: Bryce Miller (SEA) Under 12.5 Innings Recorded (+105 on DraftKings)
- Pick: Vladimir Guerrero (TOR) Over 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs (-120 on DraftKings)
