MLB Postseason Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 10/8

Brewers vs. Cubs Predictions

A pair of games are in the books for this series, and with the Brewers winning both games at home, the Cubs are on the brink of elimination this afternoon at Wrigley Field! We have a pair of solid pitchers on the docket today in Quinn Priester and Jameson Taillon, so let’s get into the wagers. 

The angle that immediately sticks out to me is the play of the Cubs' batters and how much they are striking out this postseason. Over the course of 5 games, they have a K-rate of 34.5% which is the highest of any team left in the playoffs. That really opens the door for Priester today as he’s collected 25 strikeouts over his last 23 innings pitched while allowing just 5 walks. The Cubs will continue to be aggressive, I would imagine, so the play on the Brewers pitcher to go over his strikeouts seems like a good one to make. 

In addition to that, I like the Cubs to have the advantage, though, as Taillon has been magnificent since August on the bump. His 38.1 innings pitched during that span while allowing just 6 earned runs speaks for itself, and while the Brewers lineup is loaded, I think for one game, Taillon can stifle them and get the Cubs the win at home to extend the series. Cubs on the Money Line for me today, please!
