MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 9/5

Dodgers vs. Orioles Predictions

The Dodgers remain on the eastern side of the country this weekend and will try to pick themselves up after a sweep at the hands of the Pirates as they start a new series with the Orioles. There are a couple of different wagers I love in this game, so let’s dive into the matchup. 

Tyler Glasnow will start for the Dodgers on the bump, and he had a great August, as through 5 starts he held down a 3.45 ERA and allowed just 19 hits on 28.2 innings pitched. He also racked up 32 strikeouts during that time, and that’s where the first wager comes in. The Orioles' lineup over the past month of games has a K-rate of 24.6% the 3rd highest mark in MLB, and it doesn’t appear that’s going to end anytime soon, with a team wOBA of .315, which is bottom half of the league. With Glasnow throwing heat, he should mow down the Birds’ batters tonight so I like him to go over his 6.5 strikeout prop tonight. 

In addition to backing Glasnow, I like the spot for the Dodgers bats tonight, too, as Dean Kremer continues to be painful to watch. He has a 5.59 ERA in the past month and has surrendered 32 hits in the last 29 innings pitched. He’s weaker against lefties too allowing a .288 average in the month of August against them. That’s enough to go on to bet Shohei Ohtani to get going tonight as he’s hitting .304 with a .950 OPS over the past week. I like him to go over his hits/runs/RBIs tonight, hitting leadoff for this offense. 

 

 


 

Padres vs. Rockies Predictions

How does a team that is struggling offensively snap out of a slump? With a trip to Coors Field to take on the Rockies! The numbers for the Padres have been low recently with ISO and BABIP, but I like their spot tonight against Kyle Freeland!

Freeland has a 5.33 ERA over the past 6 starts and has allowed 35 hits on 27 innings pitched during that span. The Padres ought to make this matchup their own, given how most of the lineup hits against left-handed pitching and the fact that at home, the Rockies' southpaws allow a batting average of .355! 

The Padres also have Nick Pivetta pitching for them tonight, and he’s been nails with a 2.95 ERA over his last 6 starts that have spanned 36.2 innings! Due to this, I will be taking the Padres on the Run Line as they continue to push the Dodgers in the National League West for the division crown!
