Brewers vs. Cardinals Prediction: Thursday, August 22nd

It’s a NL central matchup that has my attention as the marquee game of this MLB best bets article as the Brewers take on the Cardinals! Anytime Miles Mikolas is starting for St. Louis I have to fade that side, so with that known, let’s dive in on the Brewers money line tonight as they are 35-29 on the road this season and are 7-2 against the Cardinals this season! Great value as I see it on the books as well given the projections. 

Next up for MLB picks today, we move into the full fade of Mikolas whose August has been dreadful with an ERA of 9.22 and having allowed 23 hits in his last 13.2 innings pitched. He is a righty of course and who better to bet on than the catcher William Contreras? He’s hitting .381 over the past week and .274 overall on the season against righties. He will bat cleanup tonight in the 4 spot which is another great spot as his hits+runs+RBIs prop stands at 2.5 and he should have plenty of RISP to hit in! 

The final wager for MLB best bets today will be against Mikolas head on as he has failed to go over 17.5 outs in each of his last 3 outings. I just don’t see him getting to 6 innings pitched this afternoon against this Brewers offense and with his home splits showing an ERA of 6.53 and allowing an average of .286 against right- and left-handed batters. It's going to be a long outing for him, so give me the under on the outs recorded.
