MLB Best Bets for September 1

Seattle Mariners at New York Mets

A lot of betting in the MLB this late in the regular season if identifying what teams are playing for something and which teams are not and this matchup between the Mariners and Mets is just that! Seattle was one of the best teams in baseball in August winning 22 games while catapulting themselves into a tie for the AL West Division lead with the Astros. Now they begin a new month with a trip to New York and with the Mets in the gutter I see the good times continuing for these streaking Mariners. The pitching matchup will be a good one between Logan Gilbert and Kodai Senga as both have ERAs in the low to mid 3s but given the lack of production from the Mets offense that is averaging just 4.34 runs on the season it could be tough for Senga to get some support. The Mariners are also 37-28 at home this season and have an expected run total of 4.73 in the model while the Mets are slated for 4.17, pretty big disparity there so give me Seattle to win this one on the Money Line.

Pick: Seattle Mariners Money Line (-110 on PointsBet)

Toronto Blue Jays at Colorado Rockies

Anytime you have a game out in Colorado you're going to want to look at bets and player props in those games as the offenses normally pop off up in the mountains! Today is one of those days as the Blue Jays visit the Rockies very much in the playoff hunt and looking to continue their offensive run they've been on. Over the past 5 games Toronto has totaled 32 runs which averages to over 6 runs per game and as luck would have it their line for total runs tonight is 6.5 and that is a doable number. That is especially true given the starter on the mound for the Rockies today as Chris Flexen and his 6.94 ERA will open and then the bullpen will take over for the Rockies and that bullpen is dreadful. Give me the Blue Jays to continue their production on offense and go over that team total runs! Let's also add a player prop because if runs are coming tonight I want to double down. There are a few different options to pick from but I want Vladimir Guerrero Jr.. Jr. on my tickets tonight as he is a walking home run and his hits, runs and RBIs line is 2.5 tonight. That number is normally high but a normal warning track pop fly from him will go yard in this stadium so I am not shying away given the inflated line.

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays Team Total Runs Over 6.5 (-130 on BetRivers)

Pick: Vladimir Guerrero Jr.. Jr. Over 2.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs (-150 on DraftKings)

San Francisco Giants at San Diego Padres

Final best bet of the day here as the Giants and Padres reignite their division rivalry at Petco Park tonight. Don't get me wrong the Giants are a impressive team given their roster this season and the Padres have been a disappointment but one thing is sticking out to me in this matchup and its the amount of times the Giants swing and miss on average. As a road team the Giants strikeout more than any team in the MLB at an average of 10.49 times per game, that's an absurd amount! You would think that opposing starters would get inflated strikeout props but as luck would have it Michael Wacha is starting tonight and his number to beat is just 4.5 Ks. Wacha isn't necessarily a strikeout machine as he has just 90 over 101.1 innings pitched but in his last 3 starts he has topped 4.5 Ks in all 3 of them and has topped this number in 9 starts this season. It may be a nail biter but I will rock with Wacha tonight against this Giants offense that just can't help but punch out.

Pick: Michael Wacha Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-150 on BetRivers)
