MLB Best Bets for July 25

Kansas City Royals at Cleveland Guardians

With August quickly approaching it is becoming do or die time for the Guardians as they sit 4 games back of the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. Lucky for Cleveland they are looking at a series against the 2nd worst team in the American League this week in the Royals and having dropped Game 1 I don't see it happening again. It's no secret that the offense in Cleveland is a major problem but in recent days they have begun to emerge a bit with 40 runs scored in the last 7 games and tonight they will get to face Royals starter Zach Greinke who is 1-10 on the season with a 5.40 ERA. That's a great matchup for Cleveland and pitching for them will be Aaron Civale and he's been their most consistent starter all season with a 2.71 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. He has been even better in July as well making 4 starts and allowing just 5 total runs for an ERA of 1.93. He has also gone over his prop of 5.5 strikeouts once this month but guess who that was against, that's right the Kansas City Royals. As you can likely tell I will be betting on the Guardians to win tonight but will have to do so on the Run Line for the sake of the odds and will tack on the Civale hits to go under as its just too juicy against a terrible Royals lineup.

Pick: Cleveland Guardians Run Line -1.5 (+105 on PointsBet)

Pick: Aaron Civale Under 5.5 Hits Allowed (-125 on BetMGM)

Pittsburgh Pirates at San Diego Padres

What do you get when the hottest pitcher in the game meets a floundering offense, you get tonight's matchup of the Pirates and Padres! Blake Snell will take the mound tonight having allowed just 1 earned run in the last 21 innings pitched for a 0.43 ERA against a Pittsburgh team that has slipped down the league's offensive pages scoring just 4.17 runs per game, the 7th lowest rate in the league. The Pirates also don't hit lefties very well hitting .235 on the season against southpaws and Snell is as good as they come right now. I don't think I will be buying into his props though as many are mispriced, the strikeout number is too high and the outs recorded is more than he normally gets too as someone that normally pitches 5-6 innings at most. Instead let's just fade the Pirates offense and take them to score under 2 runs in the 1st 5 innings while we know that Snell will be out there. I don't fully trust the San Diego bullpen either so this wager seems much better to me.

Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates 1st 5 Innings Total Runs Under 2 (-160 on DraftKings)

Oakland Athletics at San Francisco Giants

Out the west coast for the last best bet of today's slate and it features two teams that aren't the most offensively gifted but when a matchup is good you must pay attention. The Giants have struggled through the last 4 games of their losing streak scoring just 6 runs during the tail spin but they come home today after a long road trip and they get the Oakland Athletics, the worst team in the American League at 28-74 on the season. Season long stats show the Giants are due to come back to the mean as well as they score on average 4.52 runs per game and that's in the top half of the MLB standings. The stats say they are due and I want to cash in on a player prop tonight and the man I am targeting is J.D. Davis. He like the rest of the Giants had a rough road trip but he is still hitting .261 and has a way of stringing hits together. This coming in addition to the fact that the Giants have 5.09 implied run total it seems like the market is undervaluing Davis and Giants offense tonight. With that said let's go back to the well on a prop that has been my bread and butter, J.D. Davis to go over his hits/runs/RBIs number of 1.5 tonight.

Pick: J.D. Davis Over 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs (-110 on DraftKings)
