Happy Saturday to all of you out there in the Fantasy Alarm family! Friday was an awesome day on the best bets as Juan Soto carried us to a winning night in the bottom of the 9th inning with a home run, what a sweet boy! After that I can't wait to keep the ball rolling with today's full slate of action with all 30 teams playing this afternoon/night. In today's article there is a team total, a player prop, a game total bet and a pitching prop to dive into. Feeling great on a weekend right now, let's get it going some more with today's MLB Best Bets for August 5th!

MLB Best Bets for August 5

New York Mets at Baltimore Orioles

Its a tale of two different seasons and outcomes to expectations as the Mets take on the Orioles today. Not many would've tabbed the results of the Mets floundering and the Orioles flirting with the best record in the MLB but here we are. Starting first with New York it appears they have given up emotionally on the season that's evident as they've lost 4 straight games including getting swept by the lowly Kansas City Royals and getting hammered yesterday by the O's 10-3. They will start Tylor Megill tonight and with his ERA of 5.17 and 1.67 WHIP he may be in deep trouble against this Baltimore offense. The Orioles average 4.91 runs per game, the 8th most in the MLB but over the last 3 games they have posted 6.67 runs per game! The matchup has me watching their team total runs tonight as the Money Line is a bit chalky and the Run Line isn't something I want to reach out for. The line is 5 runs too which makes it inviting given this matchup so I will start there. I'm then going to add a player prop on one of Baltimore's hottest bats in Anthony Santander who is projected to hit 3rd tonight in the lineup. Santander has gone over 1.5 hits/runs/RBIs in 5 of his last 7 starts and should be set up well at home too where he is hitting .268 this season, so give me the over there as well.

Pick: Baltimore Orioles Team Total Over 5 Runs (-130 on Caesars)

Pick: Anthony Santander Over 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs (-140 on DraftKings)

Washington Nationals at Cincinnati Reds

Any game with the Reds should constitute an over bet you'd think but in this matchup that's not the case! This is for several reasons, the first of which is their opponent today in the Nationals who score just 4.29 runs per game and have had the majority of their games go under this season. Another reason is that Andrew Abbott will be on the hill for the Reds and scoring against him has been a chore for teams this season. With his ERA of 2.35 and WHIP of 1.03 Abbot is one of the best pitchers in the National League and more recently he has been awesome allowing just 13 earned runs on 35.1 innings of work in the month of July. Then there's the Reds offense which is awesome but they are projected just 5.05 runs tonight according to the model and that may not be enough to carry the total. The overall projection for the game today in the model is 9.6 total runs and the line sits at 10.5 right now so that's an under wager. I am also going to add Andrew Abbott to go over 17.5 outs recorded today as he should go 6 innings no problem.

Pick: Nationals & Reds Under 10.5 Runs (-110 on BetRivers)

Pick: Andrew Abbot Over 17.5 Outs Recorded (-115 on DraftKings)

**all bets are one unit unless specifically mentioned.
