Monday, Monday so good to me! What a night on the MLB Best Bets yesterday as it was a clean sweep of winners thanks to mostly Max Scherzer who struck out 11 against the Angels and made me look very smart. Let's not rest on the laurels into a new day of action though as we all know how humbling sports betting can be! With that said here are today's MLB Bets and they include a game total, a team total, a player prop and an underdog Money Line! Enjoy the slate and your Tuesday everyone, I will see you right back here tomorrow!

MLB Best Bets for August 15

Philadelphia Phillies at Toronto Blue Jays

Its an interleague matchup of two potential playoff teams tonight as the Phillies travel north to kick off a series against the Blue Jays. Both teams come into the series playing good baseball and each have won 6 of the last 10 games but what I am really looking into is the number of runs being scored, especially on the away side. In the last 10 games the Phillies have been involved in games that totaled 102 runs which is way over the usually over under number in baseball for around 8.5 as we are of course talking about 10.2 runs being scored per game. The Blue Jays have been in a similar boat coming out of a series with a the Cubs that saw 32 runs in 3 games! Add that together and its a bit puzzling why the game total is just 7.5 runs for tonight's game. I understand that Zack Wheeler and Yusei Kikuchi are very good starting pitchers with mid 3 ERAs but the line is just too low with these offenses going head to head and the projected total on the model is sitting at 8.8 total runs so give me that over tonight in this game and let's hope trends continue.

Pick: Phillies & Blue Jays Over 7.5 Runs (-115 on DraftKings)

Chicago White Sox at Chicago Cubs

The cross town rivalry is back this week as the White Sox and Cubs face off for the 3rd time this season! The Cubs won both meetings as they outscored the White Sox 17-10 over two games which is a lot of runs indeed. I expect much of the same from the Cubs tonight as they are one of the hottest offenses in baseball right now scoring 5.54 runs per game at home, the 4th highest rate in the MLB. The model has them projected at 5.01 tonight so a bit lower than the average and the books have them implied at around 4.84 but either way the line for their team total runs is currently at 4.5 on most sportsbooks. If there's a lean on that number its for sure on the over and given the matchup against the White Sox starter Touki Toussaint who has allowed 8 earned runs over the last 2 starts I would say the Cubs are set up nicely tonight. I am also going to tack on Nico Hoerner on a prop here as he leads the Cubs in total bases this season and is hitting right handed pitching pretty well this season with a .777 OPS to go with 43 RBIs and 52 runs. He has topped 1.5 hits, runs and RBIs in 4 of his last 6 games and has a hit in all 6 of those games so let's ride it!

Pick: Chicago Cubs Team Total Over 4.5 Runs (-118 on BetRivers)

Pick: Nico Hoerner Over 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs (-145 on DraftKings)

Pittsburgh Pirates at New York Mets

Somebody somewhere is rolling there eyes right now seeing this game in the best bets with both teams just tanking right now. When there is an edge to be had though I don't mind dumpster diving and I think the Pirates Money Line is going to come up smelling like roses. For all their faults Pittsburgh has played competitive ball in the month of August winning games and series against the Brewers, Braves and Reds just to name a few. Part of the reason has been the offense finding a rythmn and tonight against David Peterson they could go off! Peterson is a very bad pitcher with a 5.61 ERA and 1.61 WHIP and he will face a Pirates team that has scored over 4 runs per game over the last 5 games, that may not seem like much but considering the Mets offense is in the crapper it makes the game interesting and getting the Pirates at plus money is a value that I will take a shot on.

Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates Money Line (+125 on FanDuel)
