Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Monday, July 20:

Favorite Bet:

Julio Rodriguez, Seattle Mariners (+248) – Call me crazy, but we’re going right back to Julio Rodriguez, who posts a .361 wOBA with seven stolen bases against southpaws this season. Reds lefty Andrew Abbott has allowed a slate-high 19 stolen bases on the year while his battery-mate, Tyler Stephenson, has just an 18-percent caught stealing rate on 57 attempts. We almost have to go back to the well again.

Longshot:

Brayan Rocchio, Cleveland Guardians (+507) – As I’ve mentioned in the weekly Stolen Base Report before, it can be tough to pick stolen bases against some of the top starters despite the fact that they’ve allowed so many before. Twins righty Joe Ryan has allowed 15 steals on the season, but we know by his 2.85 ERA and 1.05 WHIP that getting on base against him is difficult. But we’ll make a longshot pick here as Rocchio owns a .340 wOBA against righties and is 3-for-7 in his career against Ryan. Twins catcher Victor Caratini has been awful throwing out baserunners (10 percent caught stealing), so everything seems to be lining up well for us.
