We had the rainout for Saturday’s New York Yankees game, so we moved both Jose Caballero and Jazz Chisholm to Sunday’s piece and Chisholm hit. He also hit for bigger odds than Caballero as well, so even more helpful. We’ve got some interesting pitchers to attack on the mound today, so let’s dive into the research first and then let’s get to the MLB stolen base picks today.

Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Monday, May 25:

Favorite Bets:

Luke Keaschall, Minnesota Twins (+396)

Keaschall may not be the most dynamic hitter on the Twins, but he handles left-handed pitching like a champ. We’re talking about a .353 OBP and some fantastic plate discipline against southpaws. Not only is Keaschall striking out at less than a 17-percent clip against lefties, but he’s also got an 11.8-percent walk rate. And once he gets on-base, he’s gone, notching five stolen bases against them. White Sox lefty Anthony Kay is not only allowing a .404 wOBA to righthanded hitters, but he’s also sporting an 11.7-percent walk rate against them. And the walk numbers are even worse at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Oneil Cruz, Pittsburgh Pirates (+428)

Always a risk, especially with the number of strikeouts Cruz puts up, but I’m willing to risk it for the biscuit here against righthander Ben Brown. Albeit a limited sample size, Cruz has three hits in four at-bats against Brown. The simple fact that he sees the ball coming out of his hand well. He owns a .323 wOBA against righthanded pitching with 14 of his 16 steals coming against them. With Brown allowing six stolen bases (third-most on the slate) and the Cubs catchers combining for just a 20-percent caught-stealing rate, the risk is more than worth the reward.
