2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: The 108 games Fortes played in 2023 were more so because a team is required to have a catcher in the lineup than anything else. The stat line isn’t really anything to write about at a .204/.263/.299 slash line with six homers, 33 R, 26 RBI, and four steals. That’s a whopping 0.2 fWAR.

2024 Outlook: He’s technically considered the starting catcher in Miami, but that’s more because he knows the starting staff rather than his overall value. We should see improvement in his slash line and counting stats as he was a little unlucky in 2023, a .234 BABIP compared to a .259 mark in 2022. However, even with a few more homers, R, and RBI, we’re only looking at him in the deepest formats — 14+ team leagues with two catchers.
