Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:
Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. We’ve got an interesting group of notable base-stealers at shorter odds, so here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Thursday, August 27:
Favorite Bets:
Bobby Witt, Kansas City Royals (+198)
The odds are lame, but we’re going to go back to the well here considering how bad this slate looks for stolen bases. This is what happens when there are only seven games on the day. But Witt is a beast; he crushes right-handed pitching. Spencer Arrighetti has allowed the most stolen bases on the slate (20), and Alejandro Kirk, who allowed two stolen bases yesterday, continues to struggle with a 16-percent caught-stealing rate.
Corbin Carroll, Arizona Diamondbacks (+299)
We typically prefer Carroll when he’s facing a southpaw, but on a slate like today, you have to lean into some of the better odds. With Landen Roupp on the mound for the Giants and him allowing a .300 wOBA to lefties, we’re going to take a stab at the Giants backstops who have just a 23.8-percent caught-stealing rate. Carroll owns a .322 wOBA with an 11.6-percent walk rate and 13 steals against righties, so let’s see what he does for us today.
