Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:
Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. We’ve got an interesting group of notable base-stealers at shorter odds, so here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Tuesday, August 11:
Favorite Bets:
Jake Mangum, Pittsburgh Pirates (+245) – Why wouldn’t we attack the starting pitcher who continues to lead the league in stolen bases allowed? Marlins righty Eury Perez has allowed 25 stolen bases this season, and while catcher Joe Mack has a league-average caught-stealing rate, runners are constantly testing him with Perez’s slow delivery to the plate. Mangum has a .357 OBP with 17 stolen bases against righties this season, so I expect his total to increase tonight.
Bryson Stott, Philadelphia Phillies (+304) – Stott is squaring up against Cardinals righty Andre Pallante, who has allowed 12 stolen bases this season and is allowing lefty hitters to post a .313 wOBA against him. While you may not think that’s too bad, it’s still 40 points worse than what he’s allowing to righties. With Stott posting a .321 wOBA with 19 steals against righties, we’ll take a look at him tonight, especially when the Cardinals catchers have a combined caught-stealing rate of just 17.4-percent.
