Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. We’ve got an interesting group of notable base-stealers at shorter odds, so here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Wednesday, September 9:

Favorite Bets:

Chandler Simpson, Tampa Bay Rays (+167) – It’s a little cheap with the short odds and Simpson swiping his 40th bag of the season yesterday, but the guy’s on a roll with hits in six of his last eight games and a stolen base in each of his last two. Normally we’d back off, but he’s facing righty Reynaldo Lopez and has a .361 OBO against righties. He’s also going to be facing Drake Baldwin and his dismal eight-percent caught-stealing rate. That’s a win, baby!

Kevin McGonigle, Detroit Tigers (+780) – With the run we are on, we can afford to take a few chances here and there, right? Play it safe with Simpson; have some fun with McGonigle. We tried him out a few days ago, and he homered instead of stealing a base, so a losing bet, but we knew he was in a good matchup. Today, he takes his .395 OBP against righties and faces Zebby Matthews. But more importantly, he’s got Victor Caratini and his 13-percent caught-stealing mark over 47 attempts. We’ll lean into this and keep our fingers crossed for an immense hit at these odds.
