Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:
Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. We’ve got an interesting group of notable base-stealers at shorter odds, so here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Monday, September 7:
Favorite Bets:
Elly De La Cruz, Cincinnati Reds (+292) – De La Cruz is white-hot at the plate, posting four-straight multi-hit games and hitting safely in 13 of his last 14. He’s even got a pair of stolen bases mixed into that. He’s got a .339 wOBA against righties and is facing righty Emmet Sheehan, who is just returning from Triple-A to make today’s start. With the Dodgers catchers posting a combined 20.5-percent caught-stealing rate, we’ll make this bet today.
Kevin McGonigle, Detroit Tigers (+549) – Early in the season, Twins righty Joe Ryan was allowing a ton of stolen bases. Then he got really hot on the mound and shut everyone down for a little while. But then he got hurt, and today starts over the entire process. Ryan is working himself back into shape following some arm issues and makes his return today. For that, we will invest in the Tigers infielder who posts a .371 wOBA with a .390 OBP, a 15-percent walk rate, and 10 stolen bases against righties. Meanwhile, Ryan’s batter-mate, Victor Caratini, is one of the worst at throwing out base-runners. For these odds, we will happily make this investment.
