Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Without further ado, here are our top MLB stolen base picks today for Sunday, September 19th:

Favorite Bets:

Samad Taylor, San Diego Padres (+364)

Taylor has stepped into a pretty regular role over the last week plus, and despite Eury Perez having strong name recognition, he has struggled of late. Since August 1, Perez has a 5.45 ERA, 13.4% walk rate, and 1.61 WHIP. Furthermore, during the aforementioned stretch, right-handed hitters have a .304 AVG and 12.7% walk rate against him. Against RHP this season, Taylor has a .416 OBP, .366 wOBA, and a 90% success rate on the base paths. Miami’s Joe Mack has an elite 27% caught-stealing rate, but when Perez is his battery mate, his caught-stealing rate is just 10%.

Otto Lopez, Miami Marlins (+400)

Lopez is slashing .385/.478/.436 over his last 10 games, and despite Luis Campusano being strong behind the dish, Casey Mize has allowed a good number of stolen bases on the year. Lopez is 28-for-32 on stolen base attempts against RHP, and if Campusano weren’t to get the nod behind the dish today, Ethan Salas has yet to catch a runner stealing (3 att.). I expect both teams to run a lot in this one, and Lopez should join the party.
