Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. We’ve got an interesting group of notable base-stealers at shorter odds, so here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Thursday, September 10:

Favorite Bets:

Bryson Stott, Philadelphia Phillies (+403)

Houston righthander Cristian Javier has allowed six stolen bases in his limited action this season, so we’re going to look to expose that and his catchers’ 24.4-percent caught-stealing rate. It’s better than what we’re usually up against, but still below league-average. Stott has more than proven his mettle on the bases, posting a .321 OBP with 21 stolen bases against righties this season. Not a bad bet to lock in on the short slate.

Wyatt Langford, Texas Rangers (+529)

We’re on a heater, and it’s a short slate, so let’s have some fun with some longer odds. The Mariners are throwing Logan Gilbert, who is a tough pitcher to face, but he’s also given up 13 stolen bases, and his catcher Cal Raleigh has a miserable 14-percent caught-stealing rate. Langford has a .344 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season, and that comes with 10 stolen bases. He’s also swiped two bags in his last three games, so you know he’s running. Not a bad way to cap off your night, right?
