The MLB trade deadline is rapidly approaching now that July is in the books, and for this first weekend of August, let’s make it as exciting as ever with the best MLB home run picks. Real-life weather aside, it’s going to be tough to be as hot in August with winners as we were in May through July - we ended it with TWO of our three guys going yard with Dillon Dingler AND Carter Jensen! This weekend also features the likes of Wrigley Field, Coors Field and Sutter Health Park, so we’ve got some prime spots for MLB home run predictions!

🔥 Best Matchups for Home Runs Today, 8/1: Ballpark Factors & Weather Impact

As always, we’re not only here to provide you with the names of our best MLB home run picks, but also the why. There are countless factors to consider, but the first one that we always share with you is our very own MLB weather report. After all, windy Wrigley Field being in play makes that a must-have.

From there, it’s all about seeing who will be starting for each team today and how they perform against righties/lefties, their pitch mix, expected slugging/ISO numbers and more. After that, it’s all about the hitters themselves - that means more righty/lefty splits and pitch type performance. It will all be considered as we fully break down each of our top MLB home run picks today.

Jac Caglianone (+299)

You saw us cash with the Coors Field matchup to round out our top three targets to start the weekend, and it’s how we’re leading off our top trio today. The location speaks for itself for even the most casual fans, and to expand on that, Colorado’s bullpen remains among the worst. In other words, among the best for MLB home run picks!

Before we even get that far, though, we get to pick on Ryan Feltner. The Rockies righty starter has allowed both sides of the plate to go yard - seven homers and a .481 slugging to lefties and eight homers and a .521 slugging to fellow righties. It would be nice to target Bobby Witt, Jr. in this spot, but alas, that’s not possible right now.

While it’s going to be some of the shortest odds we’ve shared all season long, we’re going to lead off our best MLB home run picks for today with Jac Caglianone hitting a HR (+299 at Novig).

Riley Greene (+345)

We very much want to head to another one of our favorite HR spots, but with rain almost a certainty at the Great American Ball Park, let’s avoid one of our plays getting postponed (consider Bryan Reynolds there and it will just be a void if the game doesn’t play). As for our official MLB home run picks, we’ll go back to the other spot we cashed with last night.

The Tigers put up 13 runs against the A’s and we saw top prospect Max Clark go 3-for-4 as well. As a lefty, you could absolutely roll with him hitting his first career homer, but we’re going to go with the more established lefty (and 2026 All-Star) thanks to his .513 slugging vs. righties with the A’s starting Jack Perkins tonight.

Along with their bullpen being subpar as well, we love adding to our best MLB home run picks for today with Riley Greene hitting a HR (+345 at BetMGM).

Corey Seager (+315)

Look, this one isn’t going to be a fan favorite with the overall season Seager has had, but as of late, he’s come alive. He homered in his last game before missing two weeks, and since coming back for the past five games, he’s already homered again. Also, the pure fact that he’s a lefty is reason enough for him to be part of our top MLB home run picks today.

That’s because the Astros are starting Ronel Blanco, who has a massive southpaw problem. They have a .625 slugging against him, and while it’s a small sample size, it was more of the same last season as well (.522 slg). Seager still has one of the top barrel rates as well at 15.4% and much prefers righties like Blanco (.430 slg compared to .250 slg vs. lefties).

Let’s see him give Jacob deGrom some run support while coming through for our best MLB home run picks with Corey Seager hitting a HR (+315 at FanDuel).

🚀 Longshot Home Run Picks Today

There truly is no going wrong with just sticking with the targets above and that bonus newsletter pick, but for an extremely valuable way to add to our best MLB home run picks today, here’s a longshot option for you.

This is an absolute massive price for a guy looking to hit double-digit homers while getting to face Braves starter Reynaldo Lopez. He doesn’t scare us in the slightest, and it’s actually righties who have had more success against him. It’s still quite an MLB home run longshot pick, but one that is extremely valuable!
