🔥 Best Matchups for Home Runs Today, 9/18: Ballpark Factors & Weather Impact

Although the Chicago Cubs swap away from Wrigley Field to the Great American Ball Park, both are great for MLB home run picks, and both require us to check in with our MLB weather report. That’s the case across the board, and once we do, we’ll check out the starters on the mound, preferably focusing on the ones NOT mentioned above.

Whether it’s the easy targets like the stadium in Cincinnati and Coors Field (also on the menu), we’ll also break down the hitters. For both those guys and the starters, we have so much to consider like barrel and hard-hit rates, expected slugging and ISO numbers and so much more. All those go alongside bullpen performances so that we come up with the very best MLB home run picks!

Dominic Canzone (+426)

When we’ve got Coors Field on deck, why not start there? We enjoyed the San Diego Padres lineup there throughout the week, and we even had some action on the team that’s there now - the Seattle Mariners. While they don’t get our favorite target of Tomoyuki Sugano (yet), the entire Colorado Rockies pitching staff is great for MLB home run picks.

That includes their bullpen, which is likely what will be featured after removing rookie Gabriel Hughes from this scheduled start. So, while the Seattle lineup is inconsistent, that’s great news, and they do still have plenty of power. Therefore, we’re still loving that we can lead off our best MLB home run picks for today with Dominic Canzone hitting a HR (+426 at DraftKings).

Kyle Schwarber (+311)

It may not be Coors Field, but we love Citi Field tonight, even after last night’s low-scoring affair. Admittedly, Juan Soto let us down last night (so of course, expect a homer tonight!), but we’re going to swap sides. The New York Mets are starting Zac Thornton, and with the Philadelphia Phillies featuring lefties, that’s great news for MLB home run picks.

That’s because not only does Zac Thornton struggle more vs. southpaws in general with a .203 ISO allowed, but even more power could also be on the horizon, as it’s a .236 expected ISO allowed to lefties! Normally, the 45-homer hitter would be a chalk pick with unplayable odds, but that is clearly not the case here.

So, let’s take the league leader in the +300’s while we have the opportunity and add to our top MLB home run picks today with Kyle Schwarber hitting a HR (+311 at DraftKings).

Riley Greene (+375)

After those two NL West spots, we’re going to spin things to Chicago, even if it’s not Wrigley Field. We’re still more than happy with the Chicago White Sox home ballpark when they’re starting David Sandlin, who didn’t see the mound until late May, and since then, has only had six total appearances! That’s great news for MLB home run picks.

A guy not in midseason form is awesome, but what is even more ideal is that this rookie righty has VERY clear splits. It’s not the biggest sample size, but he is incredibly worse vs. lefties (.261 ISO allowed) compared to fellow righties (.068 ISO allowed). Well, that’s just fine based on the Detroit Tigers lineup; they have several southpaws that can get the job done.

Classic pick-your-poison spots can be tough, but we’re locking in Riley Greene hitting a HR (+375 at bet365) as part of our best MLB home run picks for today!
