🔥 Best Matchups for Home Runs Today, 9/16: Ballpark Factors & Weather Impact
You’ve seen the names, but why are those our top MLB home run predictions for today? For starters, we’ll check in with windy Wrigley Field and other conditions with our MLB weather report. We’ll then break down the starters - even the studs like Snell, Henderson, and Wheeler - for their ISO allowed, righty/lefty splits, hard-hit rates, and more.
The hitters actually cashing MLB home run picks have just as many metrics to break down. Many of them are parallel with those of pitchers, like barrel rates, whiff rates, and more, but they also have the added component of launch angles. We also can’t forget bullpen action, especially because we can’t expect the starters we love targeting to be in the game forever.
After considering everything you can imagine, here is why the three names above made the cut for our best MLB home run picks today!
Cal Raleigh (+350)
We were on a lefty in the Seattle Mariners lineup last night, and with a lefty now on the mound for the Los Angeles Angels, we’re going to switch things up while still enjoying the same matchup. You’ve seen us target Yusei Kikuchi in each of his starts since his return from injury, as missing nearly four full months sounds great for cashing MLB home run picks.
While he didn’t help us cash with the Washington Nationals last time out, he still looked shaky with four walks and lasting just four innings. Even still, we expect to see what we saw the last time he faced Seattle at home - multiple HRs allowed. We know that Cal Raleigh being back in form makes him the chalk pick these days, but we still love this price with that being the case.
As he continues to get his numbers vs. lefties back to where they were last year, we’re leading off our best MLB home run picks for today with Cal Raleigh hitting a HR (+350 at bet365).
Kyle Stowers (+492)
Another one of the matchups featuring a team out west is Marlins vs. Diamondbacks, so while it means that we’ll have to wait for picks to hit, we still love seeing Merrill Kelly on the mound. We’ve dogged on him so much this season that it’s starting to feel bad, but we like winners more. So, it’s back to a guy that is great for MLB home run picks.
Kelly can get crushed by both sides of the plate, but it’s lefties displaying immense power against him to the tune of a .226 ISO with a .252 expected ISO. Southpaws are something that Miami has, and that means we have a few options here. What has swung us in the direction of our target is his incredible .233 ISO vs. righties.
Griffin Conine is the clear pivot here, but we’re adding to our top MLB home run picks today with Kyle Stowers hitting a HR (+492 at DraftKings).
Isaac Paredes (+550)
Why do they keep doing it? Daniel Lynch clearly isn’t a guy who excels when starting games, and even as a reliever, the Kansas City Royals bullpen is absolutely dreadful. Unfortunately for him, the team is yet again giving him the first pitch, and now it comes against the Houston Astros. Therefore, this matchup is also part of our best MLB home run picks for today.
Ok, admittedly, Lynch has gone deeper into games in his last two starts, but the Toronto Blue Jays and Arizona Diamondbacks have not been exceptionally scary this season. Another added component to this is that Lynch is much better lefty vs. lefty, while Yordan Alvarez is historically great lefty vs. lefty as well.
He is always live to homer in back-to-back games, but we’re going to go under the radar with the third baseman and round out our best MLB home run picks for today with Isaac Paredes hitting a HR (+550 at bet365).

🚀 Longshot Home Run Picks Today
A FREE bonus pick (which we hit last night) is just the first of multiple ways that we love adding to our MLB home run picks. Next up is our favorite longshot for today…
That’s right - it’s back to picking on Merrill Kelly. It’s not our fault that he makes it rather easy, and it’s awesome locking in our best MLB home run longshot pick for today on a lefty against him that has a .192 ISO vs. right-handed pitching.
