League of Legends Pro League
Spring Split Playoffs – Round 3 Match 1
Lineups Lock Wednesday @ 4:45 AM ET
(+140) LNG Esports v TOP Esports (-190)
We are racing through the League of Legends LPL playoffs and Wednesday is bringing up the first match of the third round with TOP esports taking on LNG Esports. This match between the fourth and fifth-place teams should be electric as both squads have shown glimmers of exceptionalism, but have also failed to deliver in matches where they should have been the favorites. The regular-season meeting between these two teams took place a little over three weeks ago and saw TES coming out on top with a 2-1 scoreline. Things change in the playoffs and we have already seen teams adapt with unique picks, new strategies, and heightened aggression to try to gain an edge on their opponents. The only guarantee we have from this match is explosive play and top-tier League of Legends to come! Let’s dive in!
Series #1: LNG Esports v TOP Esports
Cann’s Pick: TOP Esports (3-2)
Fantasy Value Breakdown
Captain
Favorite: Knight (TES: $15,600) When you talk about Knight, you have to get visions of the TES of old and the domination that Knight had in the LPL. As one of the world’s most dominant mid laners, Knight would find ways to punish his opponent in lane and then rotate to side lanes to transfer his advantage to his teammates. If Knight can find an advantage over Doinb in lane, even if it is just the ability to push the wave, TES can snowball this game quickly. LNG relies so heavily on the advantages that Ale (Top) and Light (ADC) can gain in the laning phase that if one/both of them fall behind, there usually is little hope for them to win. Knight was third among mid laners in kills (157) and had a 5.7 KDA to go along with it. I want to see him on aggressive pick that can influence in the mid-game.
Value Pick: Tian (TES: $14,100)
Captain
Favorite: Light (LNG: $16,200) This is the key to an LNG victory. Light has to be able to carry in these matches. His 221 kills are second in the league (only behind B5’s Photic) and he has a 7.8 KDA overall. He can play the more stock ADCs like Jinx and Aphelios but he has also mixed in more fringe picks like Zeri, Samira, and Caitlyn. His ability to play out any style of ADC is such an asset to LNG when they are drafting. You cannot use the draft to get him on a bad champion pick and there is almost no way to make him irrelevant for the entire game. Watch out for Light to flip a few team fights and win a few matches almost entirely on his own.
Value Pick: Doinb (LNG: $14,700)
Flex
Favorite: Wayward (TES: $8,400) For a top laner that is only averaging 10 fewer FPPG to be valued at this price point is an absolute steal. His 4.2 KDA is best among LPL top laners and he is averaging over three kills and nearly five assists per game. His champion pool and his playstyle are so diverse and fit whatever the needs are of his team. In their last match against BLG, he played one carry Tryndamere game where he went 5-1-5 and racked up nearly 16K gold in 31 minutes. In that same series, he also went a tank (Malphite) and went 0-1-9 and had more gold than the opposing top laner who was playing that carry Tryndamere pick himself. Wayward will be consistent in team fights and I am excited to see what he can do against Ale in this series.
Value Pick: Mark (TES: $7,200)
Flex
Favorite: Tarzan (LNG: $8,800) Tarzan plays with heightened aggression and that aggression is key to their success. We see with his champion picks of Jarvin IV, Lee Sin, and Volibear. Each of these champions Tarzan has to be the initiator for LNG and the player who directs them through the mid and late game macro movements. He has the most assists among LPL junglers (343) and a whopping 75% team kill participation rate. This production should have huge dividends for your lineup.
Value Pick: Ale (LNG: $7,800)
