DFS Fantasy Breakdown
Series #1: Invictus Gaming v Weibo Gaming
Game Breakdown: There are two different forces at play here that should make this a 2-1 series, regardless of who actually wins. Weibo Gaming has a much higher ceiling, with much better players who should realistically outplay the likes of IG. WBG’s biggest hurdle in the Spring Split, and why we ultimately saw them lose to JDG in the playoffs, is their ability to deliver on a game in and game out basis. Angel, SofM and huanfeng have had some of the highest highs in their careers (both were on the second-place finishing Suning team at the 2020 World Championships. They also have had some of the more disappointing performances in domestic playoffs. IG has fallen pretty tragically in terms of their overall star power in 2022. This squad has looked very lackluster after losing Rookie, a core piece of their 2021 lineup. The IG jungler (XUN) is the lynchpin to the success of this team and I believe actually better than SofM. XUN will be a player to watch for IG because if he can dictate the pace of the early game, he can negate some of the disadvantages in lane.

Game Breakdown: I wouldn’t touch FPX with a ten-foot pole at this point. Having both player and coach swaps with four days before your first match against the reigning World Champions does not give me great feelings. I do like Lele (FPX Support) but even if they had actually made this choice a while ago, there is something to be said about a learning curve on stage. Lele will need to find ways not only to sync up with his ADC (Lwx) but get lock-step with Clid for macro movements. EDG on the otherhand should have been taking the break to refocus. While they brought in a few new coaches, the core of the team remains intact. EDG is a team who had a very disappointing end of the Spring Split and will have a chance to recapture their former glory by punching their ticket to North America in October. Im looking at Scout for this slate and how he has to have the highest skill ability out of anyone. He regularly will dominate his lane opponent and then take over a game with his huge lead. Viper(EDG ADC) could also have a breakout series because of the new changes in the bottom lane for FPX.
