League of Legends European Championship & League of Legends Championship Series

2022 Spring Playoffs / April 9th, 2022

The past weekend for both the LCS and the LEC has given us our upper-bracket finals matchups but it is now time for both leagues to make their way through the lower bracket gauntlet. For the LEC we are looking at a rematch of the first-round match of Fnatic and G2 Esports and it should be an absolute barn burner. These two teams have so much history and we will see some of the best League of Legends Europe has to offer on Saturday. The LCS is giving us the possible redemption story of Cloud9 as they look to bounce back from a horrible 0-3 series sweep loss at the hand of 100 Thieves. Many people scratched their heads looking at the C9 draft and approach to the game. This team will need to come locked and loaded as they face a scrappy Golden Guardians in the first lower-bracket match. Let’s dive in!

MATCHES:

(-185) Fnatic v G2 Esports (+141)

(-480) Cloud9 v Golden Guardians (+330)

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Series #1: Fnatic v G2 Esports

Game Breakdown: This could be seen as a legitimate finals series in its own right. We see two titanic teams collide for the second time in this playoff run. We are looking at two different set of strengths for each team, which makes this series so incredibly exciting. For FNC, they will rely on their bottom lane duo of Upset and Hylissang to output the damage in the late game team fights with the utility support from their other teammates. For G2, they are praying on the BrokenBlade win-condition and hopefully a smart marco play out of their jungler, Jankos. If G2 can get BB ahead early, you can avenues for G2 to take this series, but constantly beating the best ADC in the LEC will require a top-tier performance out of G2’s Flakked.

Favorite Picks: Upset (FNC: $11,400/$7,600), Humanoid (FNC: $7,200), Hylissang (FNC: $6,000), Fnatic ($5,000)

Value Picks: Caps (G2: $6,800), Broken Blade (G2: $6,200), Jankos (G2: $6,200)

Cann’s Match Pick: Fnatic (3-1)

Series #2: Cloud9 v Golden Guardians

Game Breakdown: As you can see in my mock lineup, I really tried to avoid this matchup as much as possible. I cannot help but agree with certain analysts’ critique of Cloud9 and how there has to be something wrong within that team. The last 6 to 7 games played have looked horrible and with the 2022 Spring Split MVP in Summit on your team, these games shouldn’t look so hard. Cloud9 also lacks any way to consistently apply early pressure outside of Summit, which makes it really difficult for Berserker to scale into the animal we expect in the late-game. I would imagine that both in the draft and in Pridestalkr’s pathing, GG will look to pressure Summit in the top lane. I think it may be a series where the former best top laner in NA (Licorice) can rediscover himself.

Favorite Picks: Fudge (C9: $11,100/$7,400), Berserker (C9: $11,100/$7,400), Summit (C9: $6,600)

Value Picks: Lost (GG: $10,500/$7,000), Pridestalkr (GG: $6,400), Licorice (GG: $5,800)

Cann’s Match Pick: Cloud9 (3-1)
