League of Legends European Championship & League of Legends Championship Series
2022 Spring Split Playoffs - April 2nd, 2022
In the upper bracket of both the LCS and LEC, winning can mean the difference between playing a total of three series to win a championship or having to play 4 or more series. For all four teams playing on Saturday, the ability to take one more step towards a championship banner is everything. Rogue, Cloud9, Fnatic, and 100 Thieves have all stood atop the mountain in their respective leagues and each of these teams has felt what it means to be the best. There is more pressure on Rogue because they have had all the regular-season success, but have consistently fallen short in the playoffs.
Matches
(-118) Rogue v Fnatic (-118)
(-150) Cloud9 v 100 Thieves (+117)
Fantasy Value Breakdown
LEC Series: Rogue v Fnatic
Series Breakdown: This will be a fascinating test for both teams. In their own right, both Fnatic and Rogue bring a lot of explosive energy to the rift. Fnatic will play “off-meta” champions if they suit their needs, while Rogue will find creative play patterns to try and make their strategy less predictable. This series feels like it will come down to whether or not the top side of Fnatic (Wunder and Razork) can play to their potential. Fnatic doesn’t need either their top or jungle to stomp their competition (Odoamne and Malrang) but they do need them to be serviceable. The carry potential for FNC will come from the bottom lane duo of Upset and Hylissang. This is the bottom lane duo with the most synergy, most veteran status, and longest time playing together. For Rogue, watch out for Larssen. Their mid laner had another record-setting season with 70 kills, 125 assists, and an impressive 72% team kill participation rate. If he can pull a Faker performance (in the LCK Championships on Saturday, Faker didn’t beat Chovy 1v1 but he just didn’t let him roam the map and make plays), Fnatic will be in trouble.
Favorite Picks: Upset (FNC: $11,100/$$7,400), Larssen (RGE: $7,200), Trymbi (RGE: $5,800)
Value Picks: HUmanoid (FNC: $7,000), Hylissang (FNC: $5,400), Fnatic ($4,600)
Cann’s Series Pick: Fnatic (3-1)
LCS Series: Cloud9 v 100 Thieves
LCS Series Breakdown: There will be a point in these LCS playoffs where 100 Thieves knocks C9 out, but it won’t be today. I think Cloud9 are too diverse of a team to lose so early in a tournament, but I think as teams “figure” them out over the course of multiple best-of-five series, we will see the cracks begin. Cloud9 will rely on their 1st Team All-Pro top laner in Summit to win out in the early game hard. He had the best GD @10 in the entire LCS at +424 and he had the best kill share percentage rate out of any top laner with a near 26% team kill share percentage. 100 Thieves beat them in their most recent matchup because they changed the way they approach the game. They pushed the priority of FBI lower and put an emphasis on getting their own top laner in a winning matchup. Ssumday, a former world champion, excelled in this role but over the course an entire series it may be difficult to do this consistently. I think at the first sign of trouble, we will see 100 Thieves default back to relying on FBI and it will be that poor play pattern that will lead to them losing today.
Favorite Picks: Summit (C9: $6,400), Fudge (C9: $7,400), FBI (100: $7,200), Cloud9 ($5,200)
Value Picks: huhi (100: $5,200), Ssumday (100: $6,000)
Cann’s Match Pick: Cloud9 (3-2)
