There are no second chances now for these teams. The loser of this five-game series will go home and there are no more opportunities to move on in the 2022 Spring Split playoffs. Excel made their own history this split by making the playoffs for the first time in org history. This series should be the end of their magical run with their opponent, Team Vitality, being too much to handle. They have arguably one of the best rosters in the LEC and the most decorated player in the West. Perkz, Alphari, and Carzzy are all mechanically skilled and have World Championship experience to fall back on. One of the issues with how the Western leagues (LEC and LCS) run their normal seasons is that they are only best of one series. A squad like Team Vitality will thrive in a best of five series, and the rest of the LEC knows it.

Excel Esports (+168) v Team Vitality (-240)

Cann’s Pick: Team Vitality (3-0)

Captain

Favorite: Carzzy (VIT: $15,600) I went back and forth with this pick, and I think going Perkz would be a good pick in this spot too. I went with Carzzy here to talk about two points. The first is that Carzzy fits a really important role for Vitality. He can play the weakside and excel with limited resources. He is always playing with a deficit because VIT focuses on getting Perkz and Alphari ahead. I would watch out for a shift out of Vitality in the playoffs here. I would expect mroe traditional play and them designing around their gameplan around the ADC role. The ADC role is my second point of emphasis. The most successful teams around the world are winning through their bottom lanes and Team Vitality will need to follow suit.

Value Pick: Perkz (VIT: $14,400)

Captain

Favorite: Patrik (XL: $16,200) This is the only feasible win condition for XL. The veteran ADC with 78 kills, 102 assits, and the best KDA in the league at 16.5. Patrik has excellent play patterns in the laning phase. He is so consistent in his ability to win the small trades but also pick up great CSing numbers. He has a team kill share percentage of almost 33% and averaging almost a +400 GD@10 min average. Watch for XL to pour a ton of resources into this win condition and there is a lot of upside with this pick because of that.

Value Pick: Markoon (XL: $14,100)

Flex

Favorite: Perkz (VIT: $9,600) This is pinnacle of what Western League of Legends can be. Perkz has won LEC championships, taken home international titles, and earn some of the highest awards a player can win. He picked up 10 more kills and has had a 5% higher team kill participation rate than his opponent, nukeduck. Throughout their careers, Perkz has almost always seemed to get the best of him, and with a more aggressive jungler (SelfMade) I don’t see that being any different on Sunday.

Value Pick: Alphari (VIT: $8,000)

Flex

Favorite: Nukeduck (XL: $10,200) I think there should be other players to look at here, but statistically speaking, he has the second best production on the team. He is one of the safer mid laners with a 4.1 KDA and only accounted for 13.6% of his team’s deaths. His kills won’t be as high as other players but you will avoid losing points with the death penalty.

Value Pick: Mikyx (XL: $7,600)
