The time has come to crown a champion for the 2022 Spring Split in the League of Legends Champions Korea! Throughout the entire Spring Split, two eSports teams have stood above the rest in the LCK. Two teams have dispatched the rest of the league with ease. Between the two teams, they have only dropped a total of 19 games and three series. Those three series losses? All of them were by Gen.G, and two of those losses were at the hands of T1 Esports.
Gen.G look to score the ultimate revenge by denying T1 the invitation to the Mid-Season Invitational and the Spring Split Championship. For T1, this is worth more than an invitation to an international event. Winning on Saturday will complete the greatest run that professional League of Legends has ever seen. Let’s dive in before lineups lock at 4 AM ET on Saturday.
(-400) T1 Esports v Gen.G (+280)
Cann’s Pick: Gen.G (3-2)
Fantasy Value Breakdown
T1’s Captain Pick
Favorite: Gumayusi (T1: $16,500) You cannot have T1 on a slate and not pick Gumayusi in a captain role. He was the LCK kill leader (219 kills) and had 241 assists to go along with that title. He and Keria would gain huge leads in lane, which translated into a +331 gold at 10 minutes average (best in the LCK). Watch for Oner and Faker to put a priority on making their way into the bottom lane to make sure the young ADC can scale into the late game and have the ability to carry the damage output for the squad.
Value Pick: Oner (T1: $13,800)
Gen.G’s Captain Pick
Favorite: Ruler (GEN: $15,900) Want to hear a part of this matchup that isn’t being talked about enough? Gen.G hasn’t faced T1 this season with their full five-man roster. In both matchups, Gen.G had a sub-optimal lineup, one of which Ruler wasn’t even playing. In the series he did play, he had a zero-death performance and a series scoreline of four kills, four deaths, and 14 assists. Ruler splits the carry duties with Chovy pretty evenly, but putting the ADC in the Captain role is always a pretty smart thing to do. We see more and more teams funnel gold and kills onto them and make sure protecting them in the early portions of the game is a high priority. I think it would be reasonable though to save some cash here and use the Gen.G mid laner (Chovy) in this spot.
Value Pick: Chovy (GEN: $14,400)
T1’s Flex Pick
Favorite: Faker (T1: $10,000) There aren't many reasons why you shouldn’t want to pick up the demon king somewhere on your lineup. He is relatively cheap and had a near 5.0 KDA in the regular season. Faker won’t be as aggressive in this matchup because Chovy is a serious competitor, but look for Faker to be a crucial facilitator in team fights. He will play a specific role, whether that is as a control mage or a split-pushing assassin – and he will deliver on that role. The more games in this series, his value as a leader will only go up.
Value Pick: Zeus (T1: $8,400)
Gen.G’s Flex Pick
Favorite: Chovy (GEN: $9,600) This is a huge darkhorse for this series. Everyone’s eyes will be on the bottom lane and the historical dominance of Faker. Mark my words, if Gen.G wins this series, it will be off a dagger play by Chovy. He did it in Game 7 in the DWG series last weekend and I can only expect to see another performance similar on Saturday. His 140 regular-season kills were decent, but Chovy set himself apart with his 72% team kill participation and 8+ KDA. He doesn’t die and his game knowledge means he is almost always in the right place at the right time. Time for Chovy to take the title of Demon King and represent Korea at MSI this year.
Value Pick: Peanut (GEN: $8.800)
