CFB DFS Playbook Week 6 Saturday Night

CFB DFS Quarterbacks

Caleb Williams (USC) vs. WSU ($10.2K DK/$10.7K FD)

Williams tossed three touchdowns but threw his first interception of the season last week against Arizona State. He has now totaled 1,402 yards through the air on the season with 12 touchdowns and the lone interception. Williams also has 144 yards and three scores on 44 attempts as a runner, so we have what should be the highest-scoring QB of the slate but be ready to pay through the noise — $10.2K on DK. I will still try to get him in my cash lineups due to a matchup with a Washington State defense that is allowing an average of 275.4 yards in the air per game (116th in the country).

Bo Nix (Oregon) @ARIZ ($8.9K DK)

Besides the game against Georgia to open the season, we have seen a very different Bo Nix — this is now one of the top quarterbacks in the nation through five games with his new Oregon team. Nix is having the best season of his collegiate career since his freshman season when his OC at Auburn was Kenny Dillingham. Guess who the new OC is at Oregon? You guessed it — Kenny Dillingham. He now has a QB rating of 109.3 after five games with a 12:3 TD/INT ratio and faces an Arizona defense that is allowing 31.2 points per game. Nix is a cash-game lock at only $8.9K on DK

DJ Uiagalelei (CLEM) @BC ($7.6K DK/$9.8K FD)

Five games into the 2022 season and Uiagalelei looks as effective and confident as we have ever seen him. He’s thrown for 1,242 yards with 11 touchdowns and just one interception. Per PFF, his 10.5-yard average depth of throw is the highest of his career, and his 76.2% adjusted completion percentage is up almost 10% from last season. He is also a dual threat and is on pace for a career-high in yards since he already has 272 yards on the ground. Through five games, has already forced 19 missed tackles compared to 12 over the entire season in 2021. He comes into tonight’s game with a 34.5 implied team score against a bad Boston College defense that got shredded by Jordan Travis two weeks ago.

Other Top Quarterbacks:

  • Jayden de Laura, ARIZ ($6.7K DK) Top-value QB with back-to-back 400-yard passing games and eight TDs combined in both.- perfect game script
  • Bryce Young, BAMA ($9.7K DK) Likely out.
  • Jalen Milroe, BAMA ($8.0K DK$9.0K FD) Up to the task if Young is out — dual threat and in play today.
  • Adrian Martinez, KSU ($8.4K DK/$10.4K FD) My favorite GPP QB.
  • Sam Hartman, WAKE ($9.3K DK/$11.5K FD) 458 yards and five touchdowns last year at Michigan — could easily be the top-scoring QB today.
  • Cameron Ward, WSU ($5.6K DK$9.7K FD) Favorite punt QB and possibly a QB superflex in cash- DK misprice
  • Tommy Devito, ILL ($6.0K FD) Top FD GPP punt play.

CFB DFS Running Backs

Jahmyr Gibbs (BAMA) vs. TA&M ($7.6K DK/$8.6K FD)

Gibbs was just named the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week after rushing for a career-high 206 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries last week at Arkansas. His 11.4 yards-per-carry was the highest by any Crimson Tide player with at least 15 carries since Shaun Alexander in 1996 — plus the Georgia Tech transfer added 20 receiving yards on two catches to give him a game-high 226 all-purpose yards. Gibbs has now rushed for a team-high 378 yards and two touchdowns while his 8.79 yards-per-carry average is fifth in the nation. The top RB spot is between Gibbs and Deuce Vaughn, and I lean toward Gibbs by a sliver. Update: With Young OUT I would expect the same type of heavy workload for Gibbs as last week

Chris Rodriguez (UK) vs. SCAR ($6.0K DK$9.7K FD)

Rodriguez played his first game of the season Saturday in UK’s 22-19 loss at Ole Miss and he was a welcome sight for a running game that ranks 124th out of 131 FBS teams in rushing yards (86.8 per game). Rodriguez ran for 72 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries and it was obvious that they are a different running team than they were in his absence as he picked up some of the tough yards that UK’s runners failed to do in previous weeks. He has a much easier matchup this week against South Carolina.

Audric Estime (ND) vs. BYU ($5.5K DK/$7.7K FD)

Estime is being called “Baby Bus” due to his similar level of physicality and speed that Jerome Bettis displayed at Notre Dame 30 years ago. His 17-carry, 134-yard, two-touchdown performance in Notre Dame’s 45-32 victory over North Carolina was the sophomore runner's first big performance for the Irish but he wasn’t too shabby in Week 3 when he carried the ball 18 times for 76 yards, and a TD against California. This week, he gets another solid matchup against a BYU run defense that has allowed at least 130 rushing yards in every game this season while ranked 93rd in the nation by allowing an average of 162.6 yards per game on the ground.

Noah Whittington (ORE) @ ARIZ ($3.5K DK)

There is no clear-cut value at running back on this slate. Whittington, though, is a solid punt play as he has now carried the ball at least 11 times in three straight games. Arizona’s main weakness on defense is their rush attack as they are allowing over 200 yards on the ground per game this season. This is a welcome sight to both Bucky Irving and Whittington as Oregon’s offense averages over 220 yards on the ground and recorded 351 yards last week against Stanford. Expect the Ducks to run the ball 30-plus times tonight to shorten the clock which should allow both runners to put up big rushing numbers.

Other Top Running Backs:

  • Deuce Vaughn , KSU ($7.3K DK/$9.5K FD) Projected to be 2nd-highest rostered RB — double-digit fantasy points in every game.
  • Chase Brown, ILL ($9.2K FD)
  • MarShawn Lloyd- SCAR ($5.4KDK/$8.5K FD) Teams can run on UK
  • Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, NCST ($5.0K DK/$8.0K FD) A sneaky GPP play.
  • Devon Achane, TA&M ($6.0K DK/$8.3K FD) A top GPP play.
  • Jirehl Brock, ISU ($6.2K DK/$7.2K FD)
  • Travis Dye. USC ($7.1K DK/$8.9K FD) Best point per $ play for USC
  • Will Shipley, CLEM ($6.9K DK/$8.8K FD) A top FanDuel Play- will be leaning on Shipley in cold weather
  • Nakia Watson, WSU ($4.7K DK) A top value play.
  • Bucky Irving, ORE ($5.4K DK)
  • Michael Wiley,  ARI ($5.3K DK)
  • Justice Ellison/Christian Turner, WAKE Both RBs are in play today.

CFB DFS Wide Receivers

Xavier Hutchinson (ISU) vs. KSU ($8.5K DK/$9.6K FD)

ISU wants the ball in wideout Xavier Hutchinson’s hands as much as possible and he hasn’t disappointed with 49 receptions and 504 yards — which leads the Big 12 in both categories. He finished 2021 with 83 catches, an FBS-top 20 mark, and last week was targeted 19 times against Kansas finishing with 13 catches for 101 yards. Two weeks ago, against Baylor, Hutch had 13 targets with 10 receptions and 84 yards so expect more of the same against Kansas State tonight. Hutchinson is viable in all formats as the top-overall receiver on the slate.

Jacob Cowing (ARIZ) vs. ORE ($7.8K DK)

Cowing was one of the most heavily pursued transfers of the offseason after hauling in 1,367 receiving yards last season at UTEP. He has not disappointed at Arizona as he has grabbed 40 catches for 566 yards and seven touchdowns so far — all bests in the Pac-12 and among the top-five nationally. Oregon’s secondary will face probably its toughest test of the season tonight from an opponent’s receiving corps as Arizona leads the nation with 31 passes of 20-plus yards. Cowing is the main slot receiver and is dangerous in space making him another top play in all formats.

Zay Flowers (BC) vs. CLEM ($5.7K DK/$7.5K FD)

Boston College senior wide receiver Zay Flowers leads all ACC pass catchers in receiving yards (481), receiving yards per game (96.20), and receptions (34) plus he is tied with Wake Forest’s Jahmal Banks with five touchdowns. He is coming off a monster game against Louisville where he went off for 151 yards receiving and two touchdowns on five catches. The do-it-all slot man is BC’s main playmaker and has been targeted over three times as many times as any other receiver on the team. This guy is near impossible to cover and at a discount price of $5.7K DK, Flowers is one of the top point-per-dollar plays of the slate against Clemson, who allows 262.6 passing yards per game.

Michael Mayer (ND) vs. BYU ($5.6K DK/$7.7K FD)

Mayer has certainly been new QB Drew Pyne's security blanket and has now scored a touchdown in each of the last three games for the Irish. He has been targeted 10-plus times in two of his last three games which gives him a nice high floor at a reasonable price on DraftKings. No one has emerged as the alpha receiver yet for the Fighting Irish, so expect Pyne to continue to look for his big tight end who has scored 22 and 27 DK fantasy points in two of the last three weeks.

Robert Ferrel (WSU) @USC ($3.5K DK/$7.4K FD)

Robert Ferrel is not the biggest guy on the field at 5-foot-8 and 173 pounds, but the addition of his speed has been key to the Washington State offense over the last few weeks. He is averaging seven targets a game over the last two games with 14 catches and a score each week against Oregon and Cal. Ferrel came to Wazzou with QB Cam Ward and OC Eric Morris from Incarnate Word where he had 74 receptions for 815 yards and nine scores and he has been compared to former WSU slot players River Cracraft and Brandon Arconado but faster.

Other Top Wide Receivers:

  • Jordan Addison, USC ($9.4K DK/$9.3K FD) GPP
  • Mario Williams, USC ($7.0K DK/$6.8K FD) FD Value
  • AT Perry, WF ($7.2K DK/$9.0K FD)
  • Johnny Wilson, FSU ($6.7K DK$7.5K FD) FSU has a real WR1 finally
  • Gunner Romney, BYU ($6.0K FD) FD Value
  • Isiah Williams, ILL ($6.2K FD) FD Value
  • Dorian Singer, ARIZ ($5.0K DK) 100-yard games back-to-back weeks
  • Antonio Williams- NCST ($3.5K DK/$5.5K FD) slot guy- trending up- led team in targets last week
  • Dimitri Stanley- ISU ($4.3K DK/$5.5K FD) getting more playing time- trending up
  • Tayvion Robinson, UK ($5.8K DK/$7.7K FD) Back-up QB may help - since most of his targets come around the line of scrimmage
  • Troy Franklin, ORE ($5.1K DK)
  • Renard Bell, WSU ($4.8K DK/$7.6K FD) A top DK value.
  • Evan Stewart, TA&M ($3.8K DK/$5.6K FD) A top DK/FD value.
  • Tetairoa McMillan, ARIZ ($4.2K DK) A top DK value.
  • JoJo Earle, BAMA ($3.2K DK/$4.1K FD) A sneaky value GPP play.
