CFB DFS College Football Week 2
Before we dive full into this Week 2 slate, it's important to note a few things. DraftKings has a main slate consisting of games in the Saturday afternoon block including the 12 pm ET games through the 4 pm ET kickoffs. However, FanDuel does things differently with an all-day slate beginning early and including some night games starting at 7 pm ET and later. FD also has early-only and night-only slates. This makes lineup strategy very different for the early games whether you're playing on FD or DK. In this playbook, we will mostly focus on the top plays for the DraftKings early main slate. There will be some players that are also on the main FD slate, but be sure to check out Pete Cole's night slate playbook for more top plays on the FD side of things. Without further ado, let's get into the CFB DFS top plays for Saturday's College Football Week 1 afternoon matchups.

CFB DFS Quarterbacks Week 2 (Sat Early)
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Bryce Young | BAMA | UT | 10200 | 46.8 | 11800 | 43.80 |
| Even as the most expensive player on both sites, Young should be strongly considered in all formats. The reigning Heisman winner tossed five TDs and added a rushing score in the season opener and could easily replicate those 40+ DFS points. The Alabama offense will be centered around Young all season and it continues this week. Texas’ defense was suspect last year and has yet to be tested this season. Despite the hefty price tag, assume Young will be popular in cash. | ||||||
| Sam Hartman | WAKE | VANDY | 8000 | 0 | 11000 | 30.60 |
| After sitting out Week 1, Hartman has been medically cleared and is back as Wake's starter against Vanderbilt this week. To give you an idea of how Vegas views Hartman’s impact, the spread jumped nearly a full touchdown in Wake’s favor after the news broke and the total increased as well. There’s some risk rostering him in his first game back, but it wasn’t a typical injury for Hartman and instead a blood clot that kept him out. Assuming he’s back to full strength, he could be in line for a big game against a still unproven Vandy defense. Hartman tossed 4,228 yards and 39 TD with 11 rush TD added in over 14 games last year. The 8k price tag on DK might be the cheapest we see him all season. | ||||||
| Hendon Hooker | TENN | PITT | 7800 | 30.04 | 11200 | 30.04 |
| Hooker and the Tennessee offense took care of business in the opener with 59 points over Ball State. Though Pitt’s defense presents a tougher challenge on the road, the unit did give up 31 points to West Virginia last week and could be vulnerable to a potent Vols attack. Hooker is still one of the top dual-threat QBs in the country and it was a good sign to see him score two times on the ground last week in addition to an efficient passing night. His $7800 price tag on DK makes him a much better play than on FD. | ||||||
| KJ Jefferson | ARK | SCAR | 7400 | 32.12 | 9600 | 31.12 |
| Jefferson’s rushing ability always puts him in play as the main catalyst of the Arkansas offense. In last week’s opener, we saw him carry the ball 18 times for 62 yards and a rush TD as he split backfield carries with lead RB Raheim Sanders. It looks like that could be the case moving forward at least in the short-term with backup RB Dominique Johnson returning from injury and the offense needing to replace Treylon Burks’ rushing threat. Jefferson should have the ball in his hands a lot against an SEC opponent this week, whether it’s throwing or running it. Don’t be surprised at close to a repeat of his 30+ DFS points from last week. | ||||||
| Clayton Tune | UH | TTU | 6500 | 34.34 | 10400 | 33.34 |
| Tune was involved in an offensive shootout last week and put up 34 DK points with four total TDs. He’ll be in another high-scoring, back-and-forth offensive battle with Texas Tech and should post similar fantasy stats in Week 2. For whatever reason, DK has priced Tune down from his $7900 price tag last game. Expect him and a pairing with Nathaniel Dell to be popular in cash for a second straight week as Houston benfits from facing a subpar Texas Tech pass defense. | ||||||
| Tyler Van Dyke | MIA | USM | 6400 | 14.42 | ||
| The Miami offense exploded for 70 points last week in an easy matchup and now gets another soft opponent in Week 2. Though Van Dyke only had 14 DK last game, he still completed 81% of his passes and tossed two TDs before the blowout factor kicked in. Let’s hope Southern Miss keeps it just close enough to allow Van Dyke and the starters to rack up more DFS production overall. Van Dyke, though, is way too cheap on the DK slate compared to his upside and should be considered in GPPs. | ||||||
| Brennan Armstrong | UV | IL | 6300 | 36.34 | 10000 | 33.94 |
| After a productive DFS season last year, Armstrong picked up right where he left off with a solid performance in Week 1. The UVA dual-threat put up 36 DK with his 246 passing yards, two pass TD, 105 rushing yards, and a rushing score. The running potential is what we love about Armstrong, though his arm talent makes him a good option either way. Considering the Virginia defense was terrible last year and may struggle against better teams again this season, Armstrong will be running and throwing it a ton to anchor the offense. He’s really cheap on DK for someone that can put up 25-30 DFS points on a regular basis. | ||||||
| Mike Wright | VAND | WAKE | 5400 | 45.67 | 9500 | 42.14 |
| Simply put, Wright is massively underpriced on the DK slate and should be very popular as a Super-Flex in cash. The dual-threat QB already has 247 rushing yards and four rush TDs through Vandy’s first two games. It looks like the coaching staff is going to let Wright run as much as he wants as long as it keeps the team competitive. Though the early-season production came against two lesser defenses than Wake Forest, the rushing still gives him a solid floor to pay off the cheap DK price. | ||||||
Also Consider:
- Sean Clifford – Penn State (Cash)
- Haaziq Daniels – Air Force (Cash)
- Cameron Ward – Washington State (GPP)
CFB DFS Running Backs Week 2 (Sat Early)
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Raheim Sanders | ARK | SCAR | 7900 | 18.9 | 7800 | 14.40 |
| Sanders saw a ton of work in the season opener with 20 carries for 117 yards and three receptions added in. His heavy workload should continue in another tough battle against South Carolina this week. The Arkansas offense will feature Sanders and QB KJ Jefferson a lot this year with Trelon Smith and Treylon Burks gone from last season. Plus, backup RB Dominique Johnson is still coming off an injury and didn’t play at all last week. Meanwhile, South Carolina’s defense gave up 200 rushing yards and 5.0 ypc to Georgia State last game. Sanders is slightly underpriced on FD compared to other top RBs. | ||||||
| Deuce Vaughn | KSU | MIZZ | 7600 | 22.8 | 9500 | 24.85 |
| Vaughn was a stud all last year and he started this season out on a good note with 126 rushing yards and a TD on 18 carries in Week 1. While that did come in a soft matchup, Vaughn should continue his ground dominance this week against a shaky Missouri run defense that repeatedly got torched last year. In fact, Mizzou ranked 124th out of all FBS schools in terms of rush yards allowed per game in 2021. Expect Vaughn to go for at least 100 yards and 20-25 DFS points as your cash RB anchor. | ||||||
| Braelon Allen | WISC | WSU | 7000 | 29.8 | 10800 | 18.56 |
| As a true freshman last year, Allen broke onto the scene and quickly took over as Wisconsin’s workhorse RB. He averaged 6.8 ypc, scored 12 times, and racked up 1,268 rushing yards despite not being the Badgers’ lead back until early October. In last week’s opener, Allen picked up right where he left off with 148 yards and two TDs on 14 carries in a blowout win. Expect him to be very productive on the ground against a Washington State defense that allowed Idaho to hang around last week. Wisconsin will likely feed him 20+ touches as he anchors your cash lineups. The DK price is way too cheap for his actual floor/ceiling. | ||||||
| Devon Achane | TA&M | APPST | 6800 | 12.1 | 8600 | 16.05 |
| Despite getting 18 carries last week, Achane only gained 42 yards on the ground. That’s a bit worrisome against a soft Sam Houston State defense. Still, the heavy workload in Week 1 is a good sign as Achane steps into a bigger role for A&M with Isaiah Spiller gone. He could easily go for 100+ yards and multiple scores this week against an App St defense that got torched for 63 points last week vs. UNC with 215 rushing yards and three rush TDs allowed. The blowout factor is in play just like it was last week for A&M’s stars, but Achane has the ceiling to smash his price tags in GPPs. | ||||||
| Chase Brown | IL | UV | 6400 | 32.6 | 9800 | 28.60 |
| Brown has looked like a beast over the first two games so far. The Illinois workhorse had 167 total yards and three scores on 22 touches in Week 0 and then went off for 199 rushing yards on 36 carries last week. He’s clearly going to be fed every game as the headliner in the Illini offense and that shouldn’t change for Week 2. Brown will get a favorable matchup against a UVA defense that gave up 170 rushing yards to Richmond last week and was torched all last year on the ground. Brown looks like a very good cash option, especially on DK. | ||||||
| Chris Tyree | ND | MRSHL | 5800 | 4.4 | ||
| It was a rough Week 1 for Tyree and the Notre Dame offense against a stout Ohio State D. Things should get much easier for the Irish against Marshall at home this weekend. After backing up Kyren Williams last year, Tyree is expected to take a big jump as a top playmaker for the Notre Dame offense this season. He’s too cheap on the DK slate for the potential 100+ yards, multiple scores and 20+ DFS points. Don’t be fooled by last week’s stats; Tyree is the lead RB for a three-touchdown favorite and should bounce back big time. | ||||||
| Jaylen Wright | TENN | PITT | 5200 | 14.8 | 6600 | 14.80 |
| While Jabari Small is the headliner in Tennessee’s backfield, Wright shouldn’t go overlooked for DFS lineups. The Vols used multiple RBs on a weekly basis last year and that should continue this season under Josh Heupel. In the Week 1 blowout win, Wright had 88 yards and a TD on 14 carries while Small had 63 yards and a TD on 13 carries. It was a pretty even workload split and that may be the case again this week and moving forward in general. Both guys have the upside to go for 100+ yards and a TD in what should be a high-scoring matchup with Pitt’s defense that struggled at times against the run vs. West Virginia last week. When comparing the prices, though, Wright is the better value than Small. | ||||||
| Jirehl Brock | ISU | IOWA | 4300 | 21.7 | 6500 | 2.85 |
| In general, we should stay far away from this Iowa-Iowa State barn burner of a rivalry as yards, points, and DFS production will be hard to come by in this low-scoring contest. Still, Brock is worth a look in GPPs at very cheap price tags. He’s now Iowa State’s lead back with Breece Hall gone and he had 104 yards on 16 carries in last week’s opener. Brock has the upside to break off a long run or two and find the end zone once or twice even in a defensive matchup like this one. Don’t overdo it in cash, but $4300 on DK is too cheap for a lead RB who could see 20 touches. | ||||||
| Cody Schrader | MIZZ | KSU | 4200 | 13.2 | 7000 | 12.70 |
| We mentioned Schrader last week as the guy to watch among Missouri’s RBs and he didn’t disappoint with 70 yards and a TD on 17 carries. Though the Mizzou backfield is still a split situation, Schrader was better than Young and Peat last week and could see the majority of touches moving forward. This matchup vs. Kansas State as underdogs makes it tough to trust Schrader in cash lineups, but he’s worth a look in GPPs – especially at that cheap DK price. | ||||||
Also Consider:
- Jahmyr Gibbs – Alabama (GPP)
- Bijan Robinson – Texas (GPP)
- Nicholas Singleton – Penn State (GPP)
- Nakia Watson – Washington State (GPP)
CFB DFS Wide Receivers Week 2 (Sat Early)
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Cedric Tillman | TENN | PITT | 7300 | 12.8 | 8400 | 9.80 |
| By Tillman’s standards, his 12.8 DK points in Week 1 were a disappointment. However, the talent and solidified role as Tennessee’s No. 1 wideout make him a good play once again – especially if this matchup vs. Pitt ends up being a shootout. Despite the pedestrian DFS stats, Tillman still had six catches for 68 yards last week and could’ve done a lot more if the Vols didn’t blow out Ball State. In a closer matchup this time, expect Tillman to be safe for cash. | ||||||
| Isaiah Williams | IL | UV | 7100 | 19.4 | 7600 | 13.90 |
| We love volume of any kind for CFB DFS and when it comes to receivers, target hogs are a wonderful thing. Isaiah Williams is that for Illinois as the clear-cut top receiver and an obvious favorite target for QB Tommy DeVito. In the first two games so far, Williams had seven receptions in Week 0 and then nine receptions in Week 1 with a huge target share compared to the other Illini pass-catchers. Now he gets to face a UVA defense that was terrible last year and could have trouble stopping Williams. He’ll go overlooked on this slate compared to other receivers, but Williams is worth a GPP play. | ||||||
| A.T. Perry | WAKE | VAND | 6900 | 7.7 | 9200 | 19.02 |
| Perry didn’t do much in the opener with just three catches for 47 yards in Wake’s blowout win. Expect a much better DFS performance this week with Sam Hartman back under center and a tighter game against a shaky Vandy defense. Perry has the upside to go for 100+ yards and multiple scores as Hartman’s top target this week and the two should connect often. The DK price is pretty attractive considering he could be priced well above 7k the rest of this season. | ||||||
| Traeshon Holden | BAMA | UT | 6800 | 24 | 8300 | 21.50 |
| All of the Alabama receivers are in play on this slate, especially if you’re looking to pair one with Bryce Young. It’s only one game, but the early returns tell us that Jermaine Burton and Traeshon Holden are the front-runners to be Young’s top targets this season with Jameson Williams and John Metchie gone. Both Burton and Holden caught two TDs with 20+ DFS points in Week 1. Either or both could have big games again, but Holden has the slight edge because he’s cheaper. You can also look at Kobe Prentice, Cameron Latu, and Tyler Harrell as less popular Bama pass-catchers. | ||||||
| Nathaniel Dell | UH | TTU | 6000 | 24 | 9600 | 21.50 |
| Dell didn’t disappoint in Week 1 with his two TDs and 24 DK as the pairing with Clayton Tune ended up working out. For some reason he’s only 6k on DK, which should make him very popular in cash games – especially if you want to pair with Tune again. This matchup vs. Texas Tech should feature plenty of offense on both ends and Dell should have a better stat line than his five catches for 50 yards from last week. Expect him to be chalky in cash. | ||||||
| Mitchell Tinsley | PSU | OHIO | 5700 | 21.4 | ||
| Even after just one game with Penn State, it’s clear that Tinsley will be a top playmaker in his new offense and a favorite target of Sean Clifford’s. The Western Kentucky transfer had seven catches for 84 yards and a TD in the season opener vs. Purdue and is still very affordable on the DK slate. Tinsley is too cheap for what his apparent role is on a Penn State team projected to be among the top-scoring teams of this slate – simply put. Roll him out in cash or GPP. | ||||||
| Jerand Bradley | TTU | UH | 5000 | 31.8 | 7200 | 2.50 |
| There are a ton of receiver options in this Houston/Texas Tech matchup. Bradley is one of them and a very affordable way to get exposure to a likely shootout. He had six catches for 108 yards and two TDs in Week 1 and caught both his scores from new starter Donovan Smith, who’s filling in for Tyler Shough. The 5k price tag on DK is way too cheap. Don’t expect 30+ DFS points again, but he can easily return value in a high-scoring matchup. | ||||||
| Trey Knox | ARK | SCAR | 4100 | 25.5 | 6500 | 22.50 |
| The tight end was Arkansas’ top pass-catcher last week with six catches for 75 yards and two TDs. It looks like Knox will benefit a lot this season from Treylon Burks’ departure in the receiving corps. He’s still too cheap, especially on DK, for someone who could provide a solid DFS floor on a weekly basis this season. | ||||||
| Michael Mayer | ND | MRSHL | 3900 | 8.2 | ||
| In what world is Michael Mayer priced below 4k and the fifth-most expensive receiver on his own team? In the DraftKings world, apparently. Let’s just take advantage of the mispricing as Mayer is laughably cheap here. He’s arguably the best tight end in the country and will be the top pass-catcher for Notre Dame all season. Mayer had five catches in Week 1, albeit for just 32 yards, and will provide a safe floor for DFS. Plus, he has the ceiling to smash this slate against an easier Marshall defense. | ||||||
| Dashaun Davis | APPST | TA&M | 3800 | 21.2 | 6400 | 18.20 |
| We suggested Davis last week and he came through with six catches for 72 yards and a TD. App State is still trying to replace their top three receivers from last year and Davis looks like he’ll be a big part of that. He was a favorite target for Chase Brice last game and could be a safety outlet against a tough Texas A&M defense this week. Temper expectations, though, because of the matchup and potential that App State gets shut down. | ||||||
| Lavel Davis Jr. | UV | IL | 3500 | 18.9 | 5500 | |
| Lavel Davis is yet another mispriced player on this slate and this time by both sites. After missing all of last year due to injury, he’s back and looking like a top target for QB Brennan Armstrong right away. Davis had four catches for 89 yards and a TD in Week 1 and is somehow still very cheap on both DK and FD. This UVA-Illinois game should be one of the higher-scoring matchups of the slate and Davis is a great way to get a piece of it. | ||||||
| Ja'Tavion Sanders | UT | BAMA | 3000 | 20.5 | 6200 | 17.50 |
| Sanders came out of nowhere with six catches for 85 yards and a TD in Week 1. The Longhorns’ tight end could end up being a favorite target for Ewers this year. The min price on DK is a mistake and Sanders could easily catch 5+ passes again with Texas likely trailing and throwing a ton in this one. It’s always risky playing guys against Alabama, but Sanders should be on your radar. | ||||||
Also Consider:
- Jermaine Burton – Alabama (GPP)
- Ainias Smith – Texas A&M (GPP)
- Myles Price – Texas Tech (Cash/GPP)
- Loic Fouonji – Texas Tech (GPP)
- Evan Stewart – Texas A&M (GPP)
- De'zhaun Stribling – Washington State (Cash/GPP)
- Cameron Latu – Alabama (Cash/GPP)
- Matthew Golden – Houston (Cash)
