CFB DFS Week 11 MAC Tuesday Top Plays
Collin Schlee – Kent QB ($8.3K DK/$11.0K FD)
This is a Sean Lewis team- and that means lots of offense. Schlee is completing 60% of his passes for 1,731 yards and nine touchdowns to four picks. KSU is second in the MAC in total offense, averaging 431 yards per game and Schlee returned last week after a one-game absence due to a knee injury and threw for 188 yards and a touchdown in their 27-20 loss to Ball State. Before this last game, he was averaging 216.36 yards per game passing and Schlee comes into tonight with the highest implied total of the slate against a BGSU team allowing 261.4 passing yards per game.
Marquez Cooper – Kent RB ($7.1K DK/$10.0K FD)
Cooper is the nation’s 12th leading rusher with 1,013 yards on the season and is the MAC’s second-leading rusher and has nine touchdowns. Even though the Golden Flashes QB Schlee is in a good spot tonight, this is still a run-first offense that is ranked 18th nationally and first in the MAC, averaging 211.3 yards per game. Cooper is also second in the MAC in rush yards per game (112.6) and is coming off a monster 32 carries, 168 yards, and one score game against Ball State. Cooper has also run for 100 or more yards in four out of the five MAC games and is a real bell cow with 28.8 carries per game in conference play.
Lew Nichols- Central Michigan RB ($6.9K DK/$9.0K FD)
This is the biggest question mark of the slate. To play Lew Nichols or to not play Lew Nichols? Nichols led the entire nation in rushing last season with 1,848 rushing yards but his production has dropped significantly this season as he's producing just 3.5 yards per carry and only 80.1 yards per game. There are some reasons for this as CMU has an entirely new and young offensive line but Nichols also just can’t hold on to the ball and last week he was responsible for two of the team's three lost fumbles. Last week against NIU, Central Michigan didn’t allow a single sack and as a team, they put up 245 yards on the ground. Nichols had 92 of them and his fantasy output would have been much better than the 7 DKFP if it wasn’t for the ball on the ground three times. If the Chips can do the same this week and Nichols takes care of his ball security issues, we could see a huge “get-right” game out of the CMU star runner.
Corey Crooms- Western Michigan WR ($7.4K DK/$8.7K FD)
NIU comes into the contest ranked 115th of out 131 teams in opponent points per game, one of the worst in college football and their major weakness is it's secondary as the unit has allowed 261.3 yards per game through the air. Enter wide receiver Corey Crooms- one of the very best in the MAC. The junior is coming off his biggest game to date, as increased usage led to season-highs of eight receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown. He also has scored four of his five TDs in the last five games. Look for HC Tim Lester to continue to have young Treyson Bourguet get the ball to Crooms tonight, as his dynamic playmaking ability will be a nightmare for the NIU secondary.
CFB DFS Week 11 MAC Wednesday Value Plays
Nevan Cremascoli – Northern Illinois QB ($4.5K DK/$8.2K FD)
With Rocky Lombardi and Ethan Hampton both questionable tonight it looks like freshman Nevan Cremascoli will get his second straight start after taking his first career snaps last week in their 35-22 loss to Central Michigan. In that game, Cremascoli went 13/33 for 158 yards with two touchdowns and one interception and was on the optimal winning DFS lineup. GPP-only play due to a strong WMU front seven but if you can get another 15-18 fantasy points out of a $4.5K signal-caller then you are in pretty good shape. While Cremascoli is the DK value QB, on FD you can look towards Western Michigan's Treyson Bourguet ($7.5K FD)
Ja’Shaun Poke- Kent WR ($4.9K DK/$7.6K FD)
With WR1 Dante Cephas out for last week's loss to Ball State, and WR2 Devontez Walker leaving early because of injury, Poke had a huge game. He was targeted 18 times and caught 13 passes for 87 yards. At this point, both Cephas and Walker are questionable which would upgrade
Poke yet again as they face a Bowling Green secondary that is ranked eighth in the MAC in pass efficiency defense and allowing 32 points a game.
Christian Sims- Bowling Green WR ($4.6K DK/$5.9K FD)
Value is severely lacking on this slate so why not take a shot on a tight end that is involved in his team’s passing game. Sims’ 30 catches are second on the team only to Odieu Hiliare and the Falcons are not a team that looks for big plays from the outside. BG’s quarterback Matt McDonald likes to implement a short-to-midrange passing game and that will include Sims who is averaging 5.8 targets over his last four games. The tight end will not win you a GPP due to a very low ceiling, but he has a floor that has produced between 5 DK fantasy points and 13 DK fantasy points in every game this season.
Other Plays to Consider:
Cole Snyder- Buffalo QB ($7.5K DK/$8.8K FD) Has turnover issues- but don’t most MAC QBs? Has had two 30+ DKFP games this season
Harrison Waylee- Northern Illinois RB ($6.8K DK/$8.7K FD) NIU lead back has picked up 863 yards on 151 attempts with five TDs
Sean Tyler- Western Michigan ($6.7K DK/$8.5K FD) Nice FD price for a RB that is carrying the ball 20x a game over last 4 (82 yard average)
Taron Keith- Bowling Green RB ($5.2K DK/$5.9K FD) Splits carries with Patterson but gets some work in passing game- solid price
Cole Tucker- Northern Illinois WR ($7.1K DK/$8.5K FD) Leads his team in receptions and yards by a significant margin with 39 and 572, respectively.
Quian Williams – Buffalo WR ($5.8K DK/$7.3K FD) Teams WR1 averaging 6.1 targets and 5.2 receptions per game – GPP play
Devontez Walker- Kent WR ($5.6K DK) Walker has the Q tag but if he plays this is one of the better point per dollar plays of the slate
Justin Marshall- Buffalo WR ($5.3K DK/$8.0K FD) Will be the WR1 before the season is over – safer than Williams at this point
Odieu Hiliare- Bowling Green WR ($5.1K DK/$6.6K FD) Coming off DK fantasy point games of 18 and 14- just wish McDonald was a little more dependable
Trell Harris- Kent WR ($3.5K DK/$5.5K FD) If Cephas and/or Walker are out Harris becomes a top value WR along with Poke
