College Football CFB DFS Picks – Tuesday, December 27th Bowl Games

College Football DFS Top Quarterbacks

Holton Ahlers, East Carolina vs. Coastal Carolina ($7.3K DK/$11.2K FD)

Ahlers still has one final game left to play in an East Carolina uniform after a storied career playing through pain and putting up big-boy numbers. He is considered one of the premier senior quarterback NFL prospects due to his size, arm strength and ability to read through progressions and finds himself in a nice spot with the highest team total (36.0) against a Coastal Carolina defense that is allowing 282 passing yards per game and 9.3 YPA. Besides the Houston disaster (6.0 DraftKings fantasy points on 15-30, 182 yds.) Ahlers has put up at least 20 DK fantasy points in five of his last six and could easily nuke this slate in his swan song game.

Cole Snyder, Buffalo vs. Georgia Southern ($5.2K DK/$8.0K FD)

After three seasons as a Rutgers backup (31 passes in eight games), Buffalo native Snyder transferred back home and won the starting job in training camp last summer. He put together a solid season in the MAC, completing 250 of his 422 passes (59.2%) for 2765 yards, 17 touchdowns and five interceptions plus he ran for 140 yards and four touchdowns on 104 carries. Snyder attempted at least 30 passes in every game but three this season and even though he will throw a pick or two, he will be slinging to keep up with Georgia Southern and Kyle Vantrease. With all the attention going to former Bulls' signal caller Vantrease in his revenge bowl game, Snyder may slide through the cracks at this discount $5.2K DK price in the highest implied game total of the slate.

Other Quarterbacks In Play:

  • Kyle Vantrease, Georgia Southern ($7.5K DK/$10.4K FD) GPP play and he faces his former team Buffalo to lead the Eagles' Air Raid offense. Threw for 3,901 yards and 25 TDs and will be throwing today but is not mobile which keeps him as GPP-only.
  • Cooper Legas, Utah State ($6.3K DK/$9.0K FD) GPP- Favorite tourney QB — torched Oregon State for two TDs in last year’s bowl game.
  • Seth Henigan, Memphis ($7.7K DK/$11.0K FD) GPP- At one point, Henigan was fantasy gold this season but has dropped significantly with three straight games of 16 DraftKings fantasy points or less.
  • Grayson McCall, Coastal Carolina ($7.9K DK/$10.6K FD) GPP play and McCall entered the transfer portal but is still scheduled to play? Foot injury also concerning. He's a fade for me but has the talent to nuke the entire slate.

College Football DFS Top Running Backs

Keaton Mitchell, East Carolina vs. Coastal Carolina ($7.7K DK/$10.5K FD)

Mitchell had already put together one of the greatest regular seasons from an East Carolina running back and added the cherry on top in the finale of their remarkable 49-46 win over Temple. Mitchell was a beast and even turned a broken play into a career-long touchdown reception. When it was all over, Mitchell had accumulated 300 all-purpose offensive yards and four total touchdowns and tied his career high with 222 rushing yards on 27 carries and averaged 8.2 yards per carry. Mitchell still has a bowl game against Coastal Carolina, yet his 1,325 rushing yards already rank fifth in program history for a single season. If Braelon Allen of Wisconsin sits tomorrow, then Mitchell is the top overall runner of the slate.

Braelon Allen, Wisconsin @ Oklahoma State ($6.9K DK/$9.5K FD)

Allen is one of the best backs in the country and he is talking like he is going to play in their bowl game against Oklahoma State. Wisconsin will need to lean on the stud running back since both quarterback options for Wisconsin are not experienced, OSU’s defense has given up more than 100 yards rushing in 10 games this season, and given up more than 200 in four games. The Cowboys will be without defensive lineman Tyler Lacy who declared for the NFL draft as well as defensive lineman Trace Ford and linebacker Mason Cobb who both entered the transfer portal. Allen is averaging 18.9 rushes and 120.4 yards per game with 10 touchdowns and even though he may not break the slate like Mitchell, he is still in a smash spot and could easily be the highest scoring play if he suits up.

Mike Washington, Buffalo vs. Georgia Southern ($4.2K DK/$7.5K FD)

Buffalo has been inconsistent at the RB position all season but you have to like Washington’s pass catching ability out of the backfield as the season went on with 12 receptions on 17 targets over his last two games. Georgia Southern has a mediocre run defense as they are allowing a slate worst 239.9 yards on the ground per game while Washington has put up double-digit DraftKings fantasy points in three of his last four games. At this price, he is well worth a shot in cash and GPPs.

Other Running Backs In Play:

  • Calvin Tyler, Utah State ($6.3K DK/$8.4K FD) Becomes the RB2 in cash lineups if Allen sits. A tough matchup but is the man at Utah State and capable of touching the ball 20 times for 100+ yards and a score.
  • Asa Martin, Memphis ($6.1K DK/$8.1K FD) A GPP play – Utah State has allowed 200+ yards on the ground in four of last five games and Martin has double digit DraftKings fantasy points in five straight games.
  • Jalen White, Georgia Southern ($5.1K DK/$9.0K FD) A GPP play. Buffalo allowed 23 TDs on the season.
  • Chez Mellusi, Wisconsin ($5.3K DK/$6.8K FD) A GPP play. Mellusi has led the Badgers in rushing last two games and in play in GPPs even if Allen starts.
  • Ollie Gordon, Oklahoma State ($4.5K DK/$5.7K FD) GPP- A favorite value- GPP play only due to the elite Wisconsin defense, but this is the future of the Oklahoma State run game (Dom Richardson is now at Baylor). 17-136-1 in regular season finale against West Virginia.

College Football DFS Top Wide Receivers

Isaiah Winstead ($7.2K DK/$6.7K DK)
CJ Johnson ($8.7K FD/$9.2K FD)
East Carolina vs. Coastal Carolina

With Ryan Jones opting out, Winstead and Johnson take up 55% of the ECU target share and they get to face a Coastal Carolina pass defense that is filled with holes — allowing 282.0 air yards per game and ranked 112th in wide receiver fantasy points allowed per game (41.3). Besides the Houston game in Week 12, Winstead has been a straight stud and has been in double-digit DraftKings fantasy points in every game. He is averaging 7.1 targets for 6.8 receptions, 84.4 yards per game with four touchdowns, and an 18.0 DraftKings fantasy points per game average.

I may be more intrigued with Johnson who is playing his last game with Ahlers going back to their high school days. He is one of those most dynamic players in the nation and caught 60 balls this year for 933 yards and nine touchdowns (18.0 DraftKings fantasy points per game — just like Winstead). One of these two should be in your main lineup today.

Khaleb Hood, Georgia Southern @ Buffalo ($5.9K DK/$8.2K FD)

The Georgia Southern/Coastal Carolina game is the highest game total of the slate (67 points) with Georgia Southern putting up a healthy 35.5 implied points per Vegas. That means Vantrease will be slinging the ball and Hood is the alpha of the offense even with the value WR2 Jeremy Singleton fully in play. Georgia Southern throws 62% of the time, so expect Hood to get his fair share of action due to a 7.8 target average on the season catching 80 passes for 896 yards and 3 TDs. We also can’t forget that he is coming off a 10 target/10 catch 100-yard game against Appalachian State.

Jeremy Singleton, Georgia Southern @ Buffalo ($3.0K DK/$8.1K FD)

I assume Singleton will be the chalk value of the slate as this is a straight DraftKings misprice. The Houston transfer struggled to start the season but with injuries to the GSU receiving corps, Singleton has risen from the ashes to become a potent one-two punch with Khaleb Hood. He has 66 receptions on the year for 714 yards and two touchdowns but more importantly has seen 30 targets over the last two games highlighted by a 10 catch,10 target game (like Hood) against Appalachian State where he went for 133 yards (26 DraftKings fantasy points).

Other Wide Receivers In Play:

  • Justin Marshall, Buffalo ($5.5K DK/$8.3K FD) ALL- 33 targets last four games and Buffalo will be slinging the ball.
  • Sam Pinckney, Coastal Carolina ($6.6K DK/$8.0K FD) A GPP play. Had a huge game in Sun Belt championship (11 catches for 81 yards and a TD) and if McCall does play, Pinckney can take over the slate.
  • Caden Prieskorn, Memphis ($6.2K DK/$7.1K FD) GPP- Leads team in touchdowns but price is a bit too much for cash.
  • Brian Cobbs, Utah State ($6.8K DK/$7.8K FD) ALL- With 70 receptions and 109 targets, my top Aggie out of Cobbs/Vaughn/McGriff — a top FanDuel value.
  • Braydon Johnson, Oklahoma State ($6.9K DK/$7.5K FD) A GPP play. Has seen the most targets over the last two games (18) and a very sneaky play.
  • Jaylen Johnson, East Carolina ($4.7K DK/$5.6K FD) A GPP play and one of my favorite values not named Singleton. Johnson should see more looks with Ryan Jones out and did play 75% of the snaps against Temple in regular season finale.
  • Keontez Lewis, Wisconsin ($4.5K DK/$5.8K FD) A GPP play. Lewis is third on the team in targets and touchdowns. Has seen more and more snaps.
