CFB DFS Lineups: Top Plays

Eli Holstein, QB, Pittsburgh QB ($7,400 DK / $11,700 FD)

Pittsburgh’s matchup vs. West Virginia features one of the highest totals on the slate. With the Panthers favored by a touchdown, Eli Holstein is firmly in play as a top quarterback. He’s put up 28 and 34 DK points in the first two games this season, with 4 pass TDs in both. Holstein also offers some dual-threat upside with 77 combined rushing yards over the first two weeks. Those performances did come in blowout wins, but WVU isn’t a tough defense either.

Mark Fletcher Jr., RB, Miami FL ($6,300 DK / $8,700 FD)

The high-end range of running backs is tough to navigate this week. Many of the top players are either too expensive or too risky to roster in expected blowout wins. Mark Fletcher Jr., though, can provide a solid floor with upside at home in a higher-scoring matchup. Miami’s lead back just put up 22 DK points with 86 rushing yards and 2 TDs last week. He should get the volume in the Hurricanes’ backfield, at least. Fletcher also now faces a USF defense that gave up 93 yards to Florida RB Jadan Baugh last game.

Makai Lemon, WR, USC ($6,700 DK / $10,000 FD)

Based on the total and spread, USC could score the most team points on this slate. Getting exposure to the Trojans’ offense in some capacity is a smart move. QB Jayden Maiava and RB Wyamond Jordan are high-upside plays. RB Eli Sanders is a solid value play, too. In the receiving corps, Makai Lemon tops the list. He just went off for 158 yards and 2 TDs last game, after having 7 catches and 90 yards in Week 1. Lemon is a favorite target for Maiava in the passing attack, and he’ll face a Purdue pass defense that ranked 117th in the FBS last year.

CFB DFS Lineups: Value Plays

Reggie Virgil, WR, Texas Tech ($5,400 DK / $5,600 FD)

After putting up 60+ points in both of its first two games, Texas Tech should be one of this slate’s highest-scoring teams. It’s an easy home matchup against an Oregon State squad that gave up 30+ points in both of its first two weeks. Tech has multiple WRs to consider, and the passing game spreads it around. One value option in the receiving corps is Reggie Virgil. His 9 receptions and 3 TDs both lead the team so far, and his 106 yards are tied for a team-high. He should be priced higher at this point.

Ryan Browne, QB, Purdue ($5,100 DK / $8,200 FD)

If you want to play a second QB in your Super-Flex spot, Ryan Browne presents a very cheap way to do so. Yes, Purdue is a 21-point underdog to USC this week. Still, that means Browne should be throwing a ton while trailing. He can return or exceed the DFS value based on volume alone. Plus, he has some dual-threat ability, as evidenced by his 50 rushing yards last week. On DraftKings, Browne doesn’t have to do much to make him a worthy bargain Super-Flex.

Kevin Riley, RB, Alabama ($3,000 DK / $5,400 FD)

Alabama lead RB Jam Miller is dealing with a collarbone injury that’s kept him out of the first two games. He’s apparently a game-time decision this week, but there’s a good chance he sits again with the Crimson Tide as a large home favorite. In his absence, Kevin Riley has been Bama’s best running back. He outgained Richard Young in the season opener and then saw the most carries in last week’s win. If Miller is out or doesn’t play much, then Riley could be a steal at his cheap price tags.
