Today's Top Plays
OVER 10.5 Points
David McCormack’s stats and real-life production have been all over the place this season. He’s the definition of inconsistent when it comes to trusting him in DFS or PrizePicks. However, today presents a matchup that McCormack has dominated this season. The Kansas center scored 19 points and put up a double-double in both regular-season meetings with West Virginia. He was a force inside against WVU’s undersized frontcourt in both games, and the KU offense often funneled through because he kept having success. Coincidentally, McCormack also scored 17 points in this matchup last year. The Mountaineers have the worst defensive efficiency in the Big 12 and also play at the conferences’ fastest pace – a good recipe for opposing scorers. McCormack also comes in with some confidence after scoring 22 points in the regular-season finale win over Texas. Admittedly, though, he went under 10.5 points three of the four previous games. Let’s hope we get one of his good outings today.
OVER 19.5 Pts+Rebs+Asts
We hit on Jacob Young’s PRA yesterday and it paid off big time, as he stuffed the stat sheet with 23 points, 11 assists, and six rebounds. He went well over the 17.5 PRA projection and now the line has increased by two. Even still, we have to ride Young right now with his significant increase in offensive usage rate, shot volume and simple importance to the Ducks with Will Richardson sidelined. He’s gone over 19.7 PRA in three straight games and four of the last five, with 25 and 40 PRA in the last two sans Richardson. Though Colorado presents a tougher matchup than Oregon State, Young did score 21 points the last time he faced the Buffs.
OVER 6.5 Rebounds
Wright has seven rebounds or more in three straight games and four of the last five coming into today. He’s being aggressive on the boards from the wing position and will need to do the same against Alabama if Vandy wants to pull the upset. This matchup benefits opposing rebounders in more ways than one. The Tide play super-fast on offense with the quickest tempo in the SEC and 11th-fastest in the country. They also shoot a ton of three’s, which inevitably leads to plenty of rebound opportunities. Then on the other end of the court, Alabama is 298th nationally in defensive rebounding rate and 11th in the SEC. Put it all together and Wright should grab at least seven boards in this matchup, like when he had seven vs. the Tide a couple of weeks ago.
