College Basketball CBB DFS Top Plays 1/7
CBB DFS Top Guards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Markquis Nowell | KSU | BAY | 9200 | 37.57 |
| Nowell has been a stud to begin Big 12 play, dropping 56 and 61 DK in the first two conference matchups. The Kansas State point guard has been good all season – averaging 15.9 points, 8.5 assists, and 37 DK – but this is a great sign to see him this good and active offensively with the Wildcats playing harder opponents. On the road at Baylor is tough tonight, but Nowell has proven he can smash the slate no matter the competition. He’s a top cash or GPP play. | ||||
| Brandin Podziemski | STC | GONZ | 9100 | 40.47 |
| Remember when Podziemski was a 5k value for us at the beginning of the season? Not anymore! The former Illinois transfer has developed into one of the top DFS studs in college basketball when on the slate as he’s operating in a high-usage role on an uptempo Santa Clara squad. He’s averaging a stat-stuffing line of 18.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.2 steals, and 40.5 DK per game and just dropped 53 DK last time out. Now he gets a high-scoring, fast paced matchup against a shaky Gonzaga defense. Roster with confidence in all formats. | ||||
| Jaelen House | UNM | UNLV | 8200 | 36.47 |
| The New Mexico/UNLV high-scoring matchup is one to target on this slate, and House headlines the Lobos’ side of things. Both Jamal Mashburn and Morris Udeze are both firmly in play for cash or GPP lineups, but House would be the priority option. The point guard’s high usage and heavy shot volume has locked him into 32+ DK in 13 of 15 games so far while averaging 17 PPG and 36 DK overall. He should keep it going at home tonight. | ||||
| Ricky Council IV | ARK | AUB | 7800 | 29.25 |
| We’ve mentioned this a few times in the Playbook this season, but Council is clearly a much better DFS play when Nick Smith is out of the lineup. He’s now moved back into an alpha offensive role for Arkansas with Smith sidelined, putting up 25 points and 35 DK last game. That’s on par with his production earlier in the season with Smith was out and we can expect higher usage and shot volume for Council moving forward. | ||||
| EJ Harkless | UNLV | UNM | 7100 | 29.21 |
| While the New Mexico side of things is certainly attractive on this slate, don’t ignore Harkless leading the way for UNLV. The former Oklahoma transfer has a 30% usage rate and 31% shot share as the team’s offensive alpha. He’s now put up 30+ DK in five straight games coming into tonight and should be busy offensively in a high-scoring, uptempo matchup here. The price tag is really affordable compared to other top guards tonight. | ||||
CBB DFS Value Guards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Rasir Bolton | GONZ | STC | 6100 | 19.19 |
| If Bolton didn’t take charge in the second half vs San Francisco, the Zags might’ve been upset. Instead, Bolton’s 21 points, 32 DK, and clutch second-half buckets anchored his squad to the narrow win. We’ve seen him take on a bigger offensive role since Gonzaga started conference play, including double-digit shot attempts in both contests thus far. This may be a trend to watch moving forward with Bolton and Strawther seeing larger offensive usage and shot volume. | ||||
| Dexter Dennis | TA&M | LSU | 5000 | 17.36 |
| Dennis was already a regular starter and decent cash play, but he may be locked into even more minutes and a larger offensive role tonight with Texas A&M having a ton of injuries. In the backcourt, Manny Obaseki is now out and Andre Gordon is a game-time decision. Then there’s Henry Coleman and Julius Marble both questionable to play in the frontcourt. Dennis could see a ton of playing time on the wing and return value at this 5k price. | ||||
| Lamar Washington | TTU | OU | 4300 | 12.27 |
| Pop Isaacs is possibly out with a concussion tonight, so Washington would be a prime candidate to move into the starting lineup and take over some point guard duties. The freshman has been Texas Tech’s top reserve guard this season, but he’ll definitely be asked to play more minutes and take on a bigger offensive role in Isaacs’ absence. This is really cheap for the potential 6x return with the uptick in usage and playing time. | ||||
| Kobe Johnson | WVU | KU | 3200 | 6.48 |
| With Kedrian Johnson out for West Virginia, we could see Kobe move into the starting lineup. Head coach Bob Huggins said that Joe Toussaint and Kobe Johnson would likely run the point with Kedrian out. Toussaint is a tad too expensive but worth a look in GPPs. If Kobe is starting, though, he’s extremely cheap for the potential 6x value. Seth Wilson ($3600) is also a cheap Mountaineer to consider if he starts or comes off the bench with Kedrian out. | ||||
CBB DFS Top Forwards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Jalen Wilson | KU | WVU | 8700 | 39 |
| Wilson has been a great DFS play all year and that’s not changing any time soon. Even a road matchup at West Virginia shouldn’t deter Kansas’ best player from filling up the stat sheet and anchoring cash lineups like he’s done all season. You can basically pencil in 30-35 DK on a daily basis from Wilson with the upside for more. | ||||
| Keyontae Johnson | KSU | BAY | 8300 | 33.16 |
| Johnson surprisingly remains pretty affordable compared to other top forwards on this slate. He just dropped 28 points and 47 DK last game vs Texas and is now averaging an impressive 18.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 33 DK this season. The cash floor is pretty safe as the Kansas State offense revolves around him and Nowell. | ||||
| Justyn Mutts | VT | NCST | 8200 | 33.3 |
| Mutts is in a very favorable spot tonight against a depleted NC State frontcourt and a pace-boost matchup overall. The Virginia Tech big man has 33+ DK in eight of the last 10 games and is only a week removed from a 45 DK performance vs Wake Forest. This matchup vs NC State is a similar uptempo one for Mutts and VT. Plus, he’s been playing more point-forward at times with Hunter Cattoor out, which should keep his DFS floor higher than normal. | ||||
| Kevin Obanor | TTU | OU | 7800 | 28.8 |
| Obanor was awesome in the close loss to Kansas earlier this week, posting 26 points and 43 DK. He’s now scored 20+ points with 40+ DK in three of the last four games and seems to be taking on an alpha role with Texas Tech. Over the last seven games, Obanor is averaging 19.8 points and 34.6 DK. His home/road splits are especially notable, averaging 32 DK at home vs 19 DK on the road. Obanor will likely be playing more of a small-ball five position if Daniel Batcho is out. | ||||
CBB DFS Value Forwards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Greg Gantt | NCST | VT | 4100 | 8.96 |
| Gantt moved into NC State’s starting lineup last game with Jack Clark out and he responded with 21 DK across a season-high 30 minutes. With Clark out indefinitely, Gantt should stick in NC State’s starting lineup and he’s still too cheap at this price. We could see him be a chalky value on the slate. | ||||
| Kamani Johnson | ARK | AUB | 3800 | 9.96 |
| Johnson is an interesting GPP value tonight who can either 5x his price tag or bust. On the one hand, he’s put up 24 and 17 DK in two of the last three games while logging 20+ minutes in both and benefiting from Nick Smith and Trevon Brazile being out. However, he did have 0.0 DK points in just seven minutes against LSU sandwiched between those aforementioned games. Ideally, Johnson will be in the 20-minute range again and return value tonight – but there’s risk. | ||||
| Solomon Washington | TA&M | LSU | 3700 | 10.79 |
| Texas A&M is dealing with a slew of injuries and it could thrust Washington into a starting role. Henry Coleman and Julius Marble are both question marks to play, so there may be a ton of minutes up for grabs at the forward spots. Washington can provide 20 DK or more just based on his playing time alone. Andersson Garcia ($3800) is another value to consider from A&M. Check out the starting lineup and injury updates before this one. | ||||
| Abayomi Iyiola | KSU | BAY | 3600 | 10.08 |
| Iyiola has started the past two games for Kansas State with David N’Guessan out. That uptick in playing time and role resulted in double-digit points scored in both games with 25 and 15 DK in the contests. N’Guessan could suit up tonight, but Iyiola is too cheap if he’s starting again. For a little background, this is a fifth-year senior who used to be a stud at Stetson and won’t shy away from playing Baylor on the road here. | ||||
