College Basketball CBB DFS Picks 1/31

CBB DFS Top Guards

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPG
Terrence Shannon Jr.ILNEB800031.92
Shannon gets a price decrease tonight after a dud outing vs Wisconsin last game. This is a nice bounce-back spot at home in a soft matchup vs Nebraska. Shannon went bonkers against the ‘Huskers earlier this season with 25 points, 11 rebounds, four steals, and 55 DK. We can’t expect a repeat, but the upside is there for 20+ points scored and 40+ DK as the Illini cruise.
Boo BuieNWIOWA780028.41
Northwestern’s guard duo of Boo Buie and Chase Audige are definitely in play for all formats tonight in an uptempo and higher-scoring matchup vs Iowa. You probably can’t go wrong with either with both seeing heavy usage and shot volume in conference play. Buie gets the slight nod as he’s scored 20+ points in three of the last four and 30+ DK in four of the last six. Audige has similar stats, but Buie is actually performing better on the road in Big Ten play.
Damion BaughTCUWVU770028.45
With Mike Miles out indefinitely, it’s Baugh who should step into an offensive alpha role for TCU while running the point. After Miles left early last game, Baugh put up 19 points, five rebounds, four assists, and 31 DK while taking 17 shots. The Horned Frogs will need Baugh to post similar numbers tonight to avoid losing to West Virginia. We should bank on heavy usage and shot volume for a strong cash performance.
Gradey DickKUKSU750028.3
If Kansas wants to exact revenge on K-State tonight, it’ll need a good game from Gradey Dick. The freshman had 16 points, seven rebounds, and 37 DK vs KSU earlier this season but the performance could’ve been a lot better as he went just 4-for-13 from the field and 1-for-8 from three. Dick should shoot it better at home in this rematch and he’s an upside play.
Chase HunterCLEMBC670025.76
Hunter returned from injury last game and stepped right back into a high-usage role for Clemson at the point. He went off for 26 points and 35 DK as his previous foot injury didn’t seem to impact him at all. Clemson now gets an easy matchup against Boston College and Hunter should have plenty of success offensively. He’ll likely go overlooked tonight, but this price tag is pretty nice for the 30-35 DK upside.

Also Consider:

  • Chase Audige – Northwestern ($8100) – Cash
  • Isaiah Wong – Miami FL ($8000) – GPP
  • Davonte Davis – Arkansas ($7200) – GPP

CBB DFS Value Guards

Tyrese ProctorDUKEWAKE550017.64
Proctor is playing well for Duke right now and it’s encouraging to see him put up 19 and 28 DK in the past two games even with Jeremy Roach back. He’s racked up 14 combined assists in the past two with Roach in there too. Proctor is also more important to Duke right now with Dariq Whitehead out. This is a good pace-boost matchup against a weaker Wake defense. Proctor should do enough to be a solid cash value.
CJ FredrickUKMISS500013.42
Fredrick has been a volatile DFS play all season, but the upside for 4x or 5x return is there at this 5k price tag. He’s shown the ability to put up 20+ DK in two of the last three and should be looking to bounce back from an ugly 1-for-8 shooting performance on Saturday. Kentucky faces the worst three-point defense in the SEC tonight and it bodes well for Fredrick, who’s UK’s top perimeter shooting threat. He can get hot for a few threes and instantly return value.
Jahvon QuinerlyBAMAVAND490015.63
Quinerly is starting to be more involved offensively for Alabama and he’s playing with a lot more confidence than earlier in the season. The talented guard hasn’t lived up to expectations this season yet after returning from injury, but the skill level and playmaking ability are still very much there. He’s now scored in double figures in four of the last five games with 22+ DK in three of those. Quinerly is still risky because the minutes fluctuate, but the sub-5k price tag is a nice bargain.
Jayden EppsILNEB480016.62
Epps has now started the past two games and logged 30+ minutes with double-digit points scored in both. His role in the Illinois backcourt is a lot bigger now in a starting role with Sencire Harris’ minutes cut. Epps had 11 points and 20 DK vs Nebraska earlier this month and should be a solid cash value in this easy matchup.
Shahada WellsTCUWVU410013.96
Wells moved into a bigger role for TCU last game after Mike Miles got hurt early. We saw Wells score 12 points with 25 DK while logging 39 minutes in the overtime loss. With Miles out, we should see Wells start in the backcourt next to Damion Baugh. He also started a few games earlier this season when Miles was out, so he’s clearly a direct beneficiary of the injury. At this price, expect him to be chalky for the 5x value or so.
Sam HoibergNEBIL33004.32
The coach’s son has been a non-factor in the Nebraska rotation until recently. Hoiberg has logged 18 and 26 minutes in the past two games and put up 15 and 19 DK in the extended playing time. He’s actually getting some run now because Nebraska is dealing with a slew of injuries including Emmanuel Bandoumel and Juwan Gary. It’s tough to fully trust Hoiberg because he’s coming off the bench and who knows how much he’ll play game-to-game, but he’s worth a shot for 5x or better value in GPPs.

Also Consider:

  • Antonio Reeves – Kentucky ($5800) – GPP
  • Jeremy Roach – Duke ($5700) – Cash
  • Brooks Barnhizer – Northwestern ($5300) – Cash
  • Joe Toussaint – Iowa ($5200) – GPP
  • MJ Collins – Virginia Tech ($4300) – GPP

CBB DFS Top Forwards

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPG
Trayce Jackson-DavisIUUMD1130045.54
We’ve been targeting Maryland’s frontcourt all season with opposing bigs and now we get to do it with Jackson-Davis. The Indiana center continued his dominant stretch of play with 18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and 45 DK in Saturday’s win over Ohio State. He’s been unreal lately and now he gets this favorable matchup vs Maryland. The price tag is very expensive, but it’s also tough to fade TJD right now. You can probably do it in cash, though, with Wilson and Murray.
Jalen WilsonKUKSU950039.21
As always, we can just pencil in 35-40 DK from Wilson as the All-American is about as automatic as it gets for cash studs in DFS CBB these days. Wilson went off for 38 points and 54 DK against Kansas State earlier this season and he’ll be motivated to lead Kansas to a revenge victory tonight. He’s averaging 21.7 PPG and 37 DK over the past 10 games and is always a safe play.
Kris MurrayIOWANW900039.25
There are a lot of top-tier forwards to choose from tonight, but Murray should not go overlooked for likely similar or better DFS production than guys priced above him. This is an uptempo, higher-scoring matchup and Murray should be stuffing the stat sheet while scoring 20-25 points per usual. He’s coming off a 24-point, 42 DK performance on Sunday. Plus, he’s averaging 24.6 PPG and 44 DK at home compared to 17.4 PPG and 35 DK on the road this season.
Keyontae JohnsonKSUKU850033.56
Johnson continues to lead Kansas State and pump out good DFS performances while averaging 18.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 34 DK over the past 10 games. He’s pretty affordable on this slate compared to other top-tier forwards. Johnson had 24 points and 43 DK vs Kansas in the first matchup and is also averaging 20.2 PPG and 38 DK away from home as he’s stepping up in tougher Big 12 road environments.
Adama SanogoUCONNDPU830030.77
Sanogo is always an upside GPP play and that’s the case tonight in a favorable matchup. DePaul simply doesn’t have anyone to match up with Sanogo down low and this could be one of those slate-breaking performances. The UConn center could go for a double-double and 35-40 DK against a weak DePaul frontcourt that’s given up big stat lines to some opposing centers in Big East play.

Also Consider:

  • Kyle Filipowski – Duke ($10,000) – GPP
  • Brandon Miller – Alabama ($9300) – GPP
  • PJ Hall – Clemson ($8400) – Cash

CBB DFS Value Forwards

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPG
Dereck Lively IIDUKEWAKE560015.12
After moving back into Duke’s starting lineup last game, Lively went off for 33 DK with nine points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Plus, his 23 minutes was the most he’s played since mid-November. We should see Lively get more consistent playing time now with Dariq Whitehead out. It’s also encouraging to see the freshman have 28 and 31 DK in two of the last three. A similar DFS output is possible in a nice pace-boost spot at home vs Wake. He’s still just a risky GPP play, but the arrow is pointing up.
Jakobe ColesTCUWVU500016.89
Coles played a season-high 28 minutes off the bench last game with Eddie Lampkin out for TCU. He finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and 23 DK while playing the five at times in small-ball lineups. If Lampkin is out again tonight, we can look at Coles as a solid cash value. He also had 19 DK two games ago in Lampkin’s absence. Xavier Cork is a cheap option too as he’s starting over Coles, but the latter is still playing a key role for TCU.
Malik ReneauIUUMD470014.48
With Jordan Geronimo out last game, Reneau put up 15 points, eight rebounds, and 31 DK in 23 minutes as the main backup to Jackson-Davis and Race Thompson in the frontcourt. The freshman has shown upside at times this season when given the minutes. He’s now scored in double figures in back-to-back games with Geronimo sidelined. Maryland has struggled with opposing bigs this season and Reneau could do just enough to return value.
David N'GuessanKSUKU430016.5
N’Guessan returned from injury last game and started upon his return. He logged 20 minutes and put up a solid 14 DK in the limited playing time. This is a guy who had the upside for 20-30 DK before he got hurt and could get back to the level soon. He’s still really cheap for the possible 5x return.
Jalen GrahamARKTA&M370010.12
Arkansas’ frontcourt rotations have been tough to decipher lately, but it seems like Graham has a leg up over others. His playing time has really fluctuated this season, though he’s now logged 17 and 25 minutes in the past two games. In the extended playing time, Graham has 13 and 25 DK and he filled up the stat sheet in multiple ways last time out vs Baylor. You can consider Makhel Mitchell as a GPP value from Arkansas too.

Also Consider:

  • Myles Stute – Vanderbilt ($5600) – GPP
  • Jimmy Bell Jr. – West Virginia ($5400) – Cash
  • Makhel Mitchell – Arkansas ($4000) – GPP
