CBB DFS Top Guards

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPG
Armaan FranklinUVSYR800024.6
Franklin has been Virginia’s offensive alpha more often than not during conference play and his price increase to the 8k level is indicative of that. He’s now put up 30+ DK in five of the last six games, including 45 and 37 DK in the past two contests. Franklin is averaging 15.1 PPG and 29 DK over the past 10 outings and had 16 points and 35 DK vs Syracuse in the first meeting. On this small slate, expect Franklin to be popular in cash lineups.
Marcus CarrUTBAY790031.17
Carr has been a stud pretty much all season for Texas and now he gets to face the Big 12’s worst defense in Baylor tonight at home. He’ll be looking to bounce back from last game’s 4-for-12 shooting woes and “only” 24 DK. Expect him to get back to the 35 DK level we’re used to in a favorable home matchup to anchor cash lineups.
Joseph Girard IIISYRUV730027.43
Girard has been an up-and-down GPP play for most of this season and that’s the case again tonight vs Virginia’s tough defense. He and Judah Mintz are both upside risky plays on this small slate, but Girard gets the nod because he’s $400 less and at his cheapest price tag in almost a month. Girard had 19 points and 31 DK with 5-for-9 three-pointers vs UVA in the prior meeting.
Jaren HolmesISUTTU720025.34
Holmes has been really good for Iowa State lately. He’s scored 19+ real points and 30+ DK in three of the last four games while offering a strong floor of ancillary stats. The Cyclones will lean on Holmes offensively on the road and coming off of a bad loss to Missouri over the weekend. His price tag is really nice for the 30 DK production or so. Holmes had 28 DK vs Texas Tech earlier this month.

Also Consider:

  • Adam Flagler – Baylor (GPP)
  • LJ Cryer – Baylor (GPP)

Tyrese HunterUTBAY560020.38
Hunter has been slumping in recent games, and his cheaper price tag reflects that. Still, he’s logging 30+ minutes as a starter for Texas and is showing he can put up 15-20 DK with a floor of ancillary stats despite not scoring a ton of real points. Against Baylor’s conference-worst defense tonight, there’s more upside for Hunter to get back into a groove offensively at home.
Isaac McKneelyUVSYR440011.97
The freshman comes off the bench but he’s logging 20-25 minutes per game or so as Virginia’s sixth-man. Statistically, McKneely is actually UVA’s top three-point shooter during conference play with a 45% make rate. That puts him squarely on our radar against the Syracuse zone defense tonight. In the first matchup vs Cuse, McKneely went 4-for-7 from deep for 12 points and 19 DK. He’s a great bargain at this price.
Kerwin WaltonTTUISU38007.33
Walton started on Saturday with Pop Isaacs out for Texas Tech. In the starting role, he went off for 17 points and 20 DK. It was definitely a rare explosion for a guy that’s been a reserve guard all year. Still, the opportunity is there if Isaacs is out again tonight. Monitor the situation, but Walton is a great value if he’s starting with Isaacs sidelined.
Elijah FisherTTUISU37006.75
With both Pop Isaacs and Fardaws Aimaq out on Saturday, we saw Fisher step into a much bigger role off the bench for Texas Tech. The freshman wing had five points, nine rebounds, two steals and 21 DK across a season-high 22 minutes. Fisher has played sparingly in a reserve role this season, but the Aimaq and Isaacs injuries clearly puts him into play for DFS.

Also Consider:

  • Sir'Jabari Rice – Texas (GPP)
  • Ryan Dunn – Virginia (Cash/GPP)
  • Langston Love – Baylor (GPP)

Kevin ObanorTTUISU710026.7
Obanor has taken on an alpha offensive role for Texas Tech lately and it’s resulted in his highest price tag since early January. The forward has scored 20 and 22 points in the past two contests with 36 and 30 DK, respectively. He’s a risky play because we have seen some sub-20 DK performances recently, including against Iowa State earlier this month. Still, the shot volume is there for him right now – especially if Pop Isaacs and Fardaws Aimaq are out tonight again.
Jalen BridgesBAYUT690022.1
If Baylor wants to beat Texas tonight, it’ll likely need a big game from Bridges. We saw his upside two games ago against Kansas when Bridges went for 36 DK and a stat-stuffing effort. Texas has taller lineups and Bridges’ size and versatility in the frontcourt will be crucial. It’s tough to roster him in cash, but we can get 25-35 DK upside from him tonight in the highest total of the small slate.
Timmy AllenUTBAY670024.07
Allen has been up-and-down and tough to trust in DFS all season, but he’s firmly in play on this small slate without many top-tier forwards to choose from. Plus, this matchup against Baylor’s conference-worst defense is a favorable one – especially since the Bears’ interior defense has been bad. Allen’s offensive game is inside and he’ll present a mismatch tonight. He went off for 17 points and 34 DK two games ago and always has the upside to replicate that here.

Also Consider:

  • Jesse Edwards – Syracuse (GPP)

Dylan DisuUTBAY550016.62
Baylor has the worst interior defense in the Big 12 and it’s a matchup that Disu can have success in as one Texas’ top inside scorers during conference play. Disu and the other cheap Texas forwards, like Christian Bishop, Dillon Mitchell, and Brock Cunningham, are all GPP plays because they split playing time on an inconsistent basis. Disu, though, should have the skill advantage against Baylor’s bigs tonight. He had 12 points, eight rebounds, and 32 DK two games ago in a similar matchup vs Ok St.
Tre KingISUTTU470013.3
We’ll have to monitor Caleb Grill’s status tonight for Iowa State. If he’s out like on Saturday, then King would be a decent value. He started in Grill’s place last game and put up 18 DK across 27 minutes. King also had 10 points, eight rebounds, and 27 DK across 29 minutes recently when Grill left early.
Caleb LohnerBAYUT330011.31
On small slates like this, you have to be different somewhere to cash at times. One cheap dart option is Lohner. Though he usually plays just 10-15 minutes per game, the 6-foot-8 forward may be needed more to match up with Texas’ slew of bigs. His smaller, tweener frame means he can defend guys like Timmy Allen, Christian Bishop, or even Dylan Disu possibly better than Flo Thamba for Baylor. If you want to take the chance at 15 DK at this cheap price, then Lohner is worth consideration.

Also Consider:

  • Christian Bishop – Texas (GPP)
  • Flo Thamba – Baylor (GPP)
  • Josh Olijanwuna – Baylor (GPP)
