College Basketball CBB DFS Top Plays January 27

CBB DFS Top Guards

Yuri Collins – St. Louis @ Davidson ($8.1K)

Collins is the floor general of a veteran Billikens squad. He leads Division I in assists, averaging 10.6 APG, and is second on the team in scoring at 12.1 PPG. Collins is the only Division I player averaging a double-double in points and assists. After being sick and missing the George Washington game Collins returned to average 34 DFP over the next two games and is now carrying a team-best 24% usage and an incredible 51.4% assist rate- yes- 51.4%! Yuri Collins is the safest play on the board tonight.

Jamal Mashburn Jr. – New Mexico vs. Air Force ($7.2K)

Mashburn Jr. scored a season-high 25 points last Friday night in a win over Boise State and tied season-highs by hitting four 3-pointers and seven rebounds. He wasn't done though as he went right back on Monday night and topped that with a new season high of 33 points in a double OT loss to Nevada. The Mountain West’s scoring leader (18.6 PPG overall and 21.0 PPG in Conference games) has been on a complete tear — and it all started back in late December once conference play began against Colorado State. Mashburn has now scored 20 or more points in five consecutive games and seven of the last nine (the two times when he didn’t reach 20 points, he scored 19 in each of them). With a 26% usage (32% last five) and a 31% shot rate (42nd in nation), Mashburn is a near lock tonight as one of the top point per dollar guard plays on the slate.

Other Top Guards

Top point-per-dollar plays

  • Malique Jacobs – Kent State ($7.9K) Pay-up guard is loaded tonight and Kent State has two of the best in Jacobs and Sincere Curry. Take the $800 discount with Jacobs who has nearly the same rates as his guard mate- 26.4%usage/25.2% shot/19.1% assist rates
  • Jaelen House – New Mexico ($8.5K) Avg 36.8 DKFP L5; 27% Assist with a 26.7% usage/25.8% shot rate
  • Javian McCollum – Siena ($7.1K) is a GTD but if he plays he is the Siena offense and too cheap- 28.2% usage/26.8% shot with a 28% assist rate
  • Foster Loyer – Davidson ($7.7K) Coming off scoring his 1000th point- plays 35+ mins with 25% usage with 11 PPG
  • Zid Powell – Buffalo ($7.3K) Is now starting and is 2nd on the team in scoring with (14.0 PPG) and leads the team in steals with 35.
  • Jared Billups – Siena ($6.1K) 7.1% O-Reb and 18.1% D-Reb rates with a 3.2$ Block- nice mid-range price play
  • Berrick JeanLouis – Iona ($6.0K) Playing really well and fair price- 37; 42 and 28 DKFP L3

CBB DFS Value Guards

Desmond Watson G/F – Davidson vs. Saint Louis ($4.0K)

Plays in the $3-$4K price range can be very volatile in CBB DFS so it is usually a good idea to at least look for a player that is on the court often. Watson has played 34+ minutes in four of his last five games and besides a clunker in his last game (7 DKFP at LaSalle) he had put up 27; 33; 23 and 24 DKFP in four straight. With a solid 20% shot rate and 13.4% defensive rebounding rate Watson can easily return 5-7X value tonight.

Michael Eley – Siena vs. Iona ($4.0K)

Starting point guard and leading scorer Javian McCollum (15.8 ppg) left with a back injury by halftime in Siena's last game and is considered “day-to-day,” One of the people that has stepped up when McCollum has missed some time this season is freshman Eley, who’s averaging 8.5 points and who will likely play a bigger role if McCollum can’t play Friday. The three-time MAAC Rookie of the Week is carrying a 27% usage rate when he is on the court over the last five games and as the season gets deeper he's becoming more comfortable asserting himself on offense.

Other Value Guards

Top point-per-dollar value plays

  • Grant Huffman – Davisdon ($5.3K) 19.9% assist rate with a 21.7 DKFP L5- solid cash value
  • Jalen Sullinger – Kent State ($3.4K) 18; 17 and 24 DKFP L3
  • Cruz Davis – Siena ($3.6K) 23 Mins and 23% usage L5- comes off the bench but could put up 30 DKFP

CBB DFS Top Forwards

Sam Mennenga – Davidson vs. Saint Louis ($7.9K)

Mennenga is coming off a career-high 27-point, 11-rebound outing against LaSalle (49 DKFP) and finds himself in another solid spot against second-place St. Louis at home tonight. His rates are near elite as he brings a 28.1% usage and 29.5% shot rate along with a 9.3% O-Reb and 20% D-Reb into the game. He is also averaging nearly a double-double over his last five contests with a 13.6 PPG and 9.8 RPG average (32.55 DKFP)

Miryne Thomas – Kent State @ Buffalo ($6.8K)

Ball State transfer Thomas had two huge games a couple of weeks ago, as he recorded 22 points and 13 rebounds against Toledo, and 17 points and 9 rebounds versus Ohio. Then he put up a dud after finding himself nailed to the bench in foul trouble against Ball State (8 DKFP) but rebounded nicely on Tuesday night against Northern Illinois when he scored 14 points with seven rebounds (27 DKFP). With an 18.4% defensive rebound and 3.4% block rate he faces a Buffalo defense in a pace-up (Buffalo has a 72.8 adjusted tempo) game tonight with a tasty $6.8K price tag.

Other Top Forwards

Top point-per-dollar plays

  • Nelly Junior Joseph – Iona ($8.5K) 7 straight double-doubles; under 30 DKFP just once since 12/4- GPP pivot off Mennenga
  • Morris Udeze – New Mexico ($7.5K) 6 of the last 7 are double-doubles with a 30.6% combined rebound rate- 24% usage/22.6% shot rate-Air Force is slow team but also a bad offensive rebounding team (22.8%)- bump up for Udeze
  • Rytis Petaitis – Air Force ($6.9K) Air Force usage leader (24.7%)- decent spot as NM struggles against Fwds

CBB DFS Value Forwards

Terrence Hargrove Jr. – Saint Louis @ Davidson ($3.5K)

Hargrove Jr. has now started six straight games and is averaging 25 minutes and 20 DKFP in that span. He is way too cheap at $3.5K for this matchup against a Davidson interior that has a low 24.8 offensive rebounding rate (295th in the nation) plus he had one of the best games of his career last March against the Wildcats where he scored 14 points with six rebounds. With the efficient way that the 6-foot-4 junior is playing 6-7X value is a near lock tonight.

Other Value Forwards

Top point-per-dollar value plays

  • Michael Baer – Siena ($5.0K) 22+ DKFP in 5 of last 6 games plus has been starting
  • Chris Payton – Kent State ($3.7K) 20 DKFP L2
  • LaQuill Hardnett – Buffalo ($5.4K) Totally smashed Toledo for 18 pts/12 rebs (40 DKFP) just two games ago- volatile play but proven that he can smash
