College Basketball CBB DFS Top Plays January 15th:
CBB DFS Top Guards
Kendric Davis- Memphis @ Temple ($9.0K)
No surprises here. Davis is still too cheap at $9.0K as he adds a stamp to his one-year legacy at Memphis. the former SMU Mustang leads the American Athletic Conference in scoring (21.3 points per game) and, remarkably, assists (5.9). He’s third in the AAC in steals (2.3), a category topped by his current backcourt buddy, Alex Lomax. Davis is used to scoring titles as he has led the league the last two years but it will be a big deal at Memphis since he may become only the fifth ever (Penny Hardaway, one of my all-time favs Keith Lee, Elliot Perry, and Will Barton). Davis is the top guard pay-up on the slate if you have the funds.
Andre Jackson Jr. - Connecticut vs. St. John's ($7.1K)
My gut play of the day is one of the most exciting and athletically gifted players in all of college basketball. With a rare combination of explosiveness and quickness, Jackson has become a versatile asset and the odd thing is that the weakest part of his game involves his outside shot (Jackson is shooting just 29% from 3-point range). But we don't play him for points as he is a major stat sheet stuffer and in a major pace-up game with St. John's, Jackson will pile up the peripherals quickly and often. If he does score points that'sa just the cherry on top - thank me later and take the $7.1K.
Other Top Guards
Top point-per-dollar plays
- Javon Small- ECU ($8.4K) 26% usage/24% shot rate and 18th-ranked assist rate (35.1%) in the nation
- Colby Jones- Xavier ($8.5K) 32 DKFP last 5- pace up game
- Tyler Kolek- Marquette ($7.9K) Absolutely love this kid (6th in the nation with a 38.5% assist rate) but he's now at a near $8K price- GPP only.
- Souley Boum- Xavier ($9.1K) 35.40 DKFP last 5 (17.2 PPG)
- Jahmir Young- Maryland ($7.6K) How many people realize that Young is a member of the 30/30 club? 30.0% usage and 30.5% shot rate- impressive for a player that quietly smashes
- Khalif Battle- Temple ($6.7K) Another under-the-radar star- 27% usage and 32.9% shot rate (19th in the country)
- Kobe Bufkin- Michigan ($6.6K 25+ DKFP in 3 straight
CBB DFS Value Guards
Elijah McCadden- Memphis @ Temple ($5.1K)
McCadden has now started four of the last five games and has responded with 111 DraftKings fantasy points in that span. His price has jumped from a sub-$4K last week but in a slate lacking major value this price is just fine for a player coming off a 30 DKFP game against UCF where he put up 18 points and seven rebounds (in OT). Add in the fact that Penny just stated that Alex Lomax is doubtful and we have our top guard value.
Stevie Mitchell- Marquette vs. Xavier ($4.9K)
We know that Mitchell is going to be told to go lock up the best guard on the opposing team and he'll do a great job but he is also in the nut game of the slate and many points will be scored. take away the UCONN disaster last week and Stevie had put up four straight 20+ DKFP games. His 3.6% assist rate is not too shabby and 17% shot can be worse.
Other Value Guards
Top point-per-dollar value plays
- Quentin Diboundje- ECU ($4.4K) If Jaden Walker is OUT then we have a main lineup type play here- will play 35+ minutes at this price
- Jahlil White- Temple ($4.4K) Coming off a clunker but not a bad price for a boom/bust player
- Chase Ross- Marquette ($3.5K)
CBB DFS Top Forwards
Hunter Dickinson- Michigan vs. Northwestern ($8.6K)
This is just too cheap of a price for Dickinson. He hasn't had the greatest season (well compared to his standards) but he is still one of the best big men in the Big Ten. With a team-high 27.5% usage and 27.6% shot rate Dickinson is also nationally ranked with an 8.5% offensive and 21.1% defensive rebounding rates as well as 5.9% block. These are numbers that most players would kill for but Dickinson is capable of even more (TJD pulled down 20+ boards against this same NW team) and is now at a safe enough price that he doesn't need to totally smash to make value.
Adama Sanogo- Connecticut vs. St. John's ($8.0K)
Sanogo is in a smash spot today against St. John's as UConn hopes to continue dominating opponents on its home court where the Huskies are 10-0 in total this season. The 8th ranked KenPom Player of the Year, Sanogo gets a pace up game as he is coming off one of his worst games of the season against Marquette. The Red Storm are allowing almost 25 DKFP to forwards as well as nearly seven rebounds. Sanogo has been a monster inside with a 27.3% usage and 31.4% shot to go along with a combined 30% rebound rate. This slate is chock full of elite pay up plays but you can't go wrong with sub-$9K plays like Dickinson and sanogo.
Other Top Forwards
Top point-per-dollar plays
- Jack Nunge- Xavier ($8.2K) Marquette can't defend bigs inside putting Nunge and Freemantle squarely in play nod goes to Nunge who can nuke this slate
- Oso Oghodaro- Marquette ($7.7K) The big decision today is what $7K forwards to play- Oso is also in a smash spot in a fast-paced game- Xavier also struggles with big en allowing 32+ DKFP per game to centers
- Kris Murray- Iowa ($9.8K) As one of our main subs Guru2U says “if he touches the ball he's going to shoot it” and he is spot on. Averaging 44+ DKFP over his last five games but is also hovering around the Garza line ($10K)
- Joel Soriano- St. John's ($9.2K) One of the most improved players in the country- over 40 DKFP in 7 of his last 9 games- totally in play in the 2nd highest game total if you can afford him
- Flip Rebraca- Iowa ($7.9K) This guy constantly flies under the radar but consistently puts up 5X as he is overshadowed by Murray- 38.50 DKF over his last 5 games
- Brice Sensabaugh- Ohio State ($7.5K) With all of the star power on this slate Sensabaugh will be low-owned and is a consistent 5X floor play (31-39 DKFP in his last 7 games)
- DeAndre Williams - Memphis ($8.1K) One of my all-time fav DFS plays and is going to sneak right under all the popular plays from the Marq/Xavier game
- Brandon Johnson- ECU ($6.3K) Coming off a bad game at Cincinnati but before that Johnson has been putting up 30-45 DKFP nightly. A little too much to be considered a value but Johnson should at least be a $7K player and can be used in all formats.
CBB DFS Value Forwards
Zed Key- Ohio State @ Rutgers ($5.8K)
All you need to know is that Key is $5.8K in a DK misprice. This is a player that has been $7.5-$8.3K all season and misses two games and takes $2K drop? Before the injury Key was a regular 25-30 DKFP player that is 14th in the entire nation with a 14.5 offensive rebounding rate and 34.9% combined. Not too shabby for a $5.8K player.
Top point-per-dollar value plays
- Julian Reese- Maryland ($5.6K) Pretty safe play at this price- 4-5X
- Nick Jourdain- Cincinnati ($4.8K)
- Keyshawn Bryant- USF ($5.1K) one of the most volatile players in the country- has 40 KFP talent but could also give us a 5.
- Sam Hines Jr- USF ($5.2K)
DraftKings Core
- Andre Jackson Jr- UCONN
- Zed Key- Ohio State
- Hunter Dickinson- Michigan
- Oso Ighodaro- Marquette
