College Basketball CBB DFS Top Plays January 14th:

CBB DFS Top Guards

Terquavion Smith, North Carolina State vs. Miami ($8.9K)

Smith is one of the country's top guards and one of college basketball's best NBA prospects. He is a scorer and has now led the Wolf Pack in three straight games after a 22-point performance against Virginia Tech last week. He is a borderline 30/30 play with a 29.1% usage/29.4% shot rate plus carries a 26.3% assist and 3.2% steal rates. He is rarely below 30 DKFP when the game is over and will put the ball up at least 20 times a game. With Jack Clark out, Smith gets even more of an upgrade and then the fact that he will be playing in the highest-scoring game of the slate against a bad Miami defense.

Caleb Love, North Carolina @ Louisville ($7.1K)

Love was getting blasted by Tar Heel fans after his performances against Pittsburgh and Wake Forest but they should be used to the volatile guard by now. He has come back and turned in two real strong games against Notre Dame and Virginia. In over 38 minutes against the Fighting Irish, Love recorded 18 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals and he didn’t force shots as much as he’s had over the previous few games. Now, he steps into a big opportunity with both Armando Bacot and Pete Nance out against a horrible Louisville team. His usage should go through the roof and Love will get all the shots that he can handle (he is already shooting at a 28.7% clip) — just beware that he should be popular, especially with a $7.1K DK price tag.

Jordan Miller, Miami @ North Carolina State ($7.3K)

Don't look now, but my Canes are one of the nation's better teams, and stretch-four wingman Jordan Miller boasts the second-best shooting percentage among ACC guards at a 52.6% mark. He plays as many minutes as he can handle and if the last matchup between these two teams (December 10th) is any indication, Miller could smash again. Canes senior guard Isiah Wong and Miller got loose and combined for 47 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in the 80-73 home win. Miller is a stat-sheet stuffer with a really nice ceiling and floor combination making him a safe cash play today.

Other Top Guards

Top point-per-dollar plays

  • Markquis Nowell, Kansas State ($10.2K) - May have the highest floor in CBB DFS. Nowell averages over 50 DKFP in Big 12 play.
  • Kadary Richmond, Seton Hall ($7.4K) - May see ownership due to the price and pace-up game.
  • Jaylen Forbes, Tulane ($7.5K) - 35+ DKFP in last four games.
  • Jalen Cook, Tulane ($7.8K) - Have a feeling Cook nukes today. Plenty of points will be scored and he also owes me.
  • Chucky Hepburn, Wisconsin ($7.9K) - Shooters kill Indiana and Hepburn has a 25% rate which should rise even higher without Wahl.
  • Jamarius Burton, Pittsburgh ($7.6K) - Playing awesome with a 30% usage and 32 DKFP over his last five games.
  • Grant Sherfield, Oklahoma ($7.2K) - Came real close to posting him in Jordan Miller's spot above. Both are excellent plays with Sherfield a tad more towards GPP with 30+ DKFP in three of his last four games.
  • Damian Baugh, TCU ($7.5K) - Is going to fly right under the radar and continues to score 30+ DKFP every game. Plus, he has a high assist rate last five games.

CBB DFS Value Guards

Brandon Suggs (G/F), Central Florida @ Tulane ($4.2)

Value is loaded today on DraftKings and Suggs is one of the top two point-per-dollar plays on the entire slate. Michael Durr is out and that opens up big time minutes for Suggs who should be in the stretch-four role. He is coming off playing 48 minutes in a double-OT game against Memphis so expect him to be on the floor all game in a pace-up game with Tulane. Suggs scored 17 points against Memphis and he fought so hard in that game, refusing to let UCF lose. He is a hungry player and playing well but just be careful if expecting 6X or more.

Milos Uzan, Oklahoma vs. West Virginia ($4.9K)

Uzan is already becoming one of my favorite CBB plays and has one of the highest upsides on the Sooner roster. The Big 12 is a physical, veteran-led conference but Uzan didn't even blink in his first two Big 12 road games. He averaged 14.5 points and 4 rebounds in two road games against Texas Tech and Kansas. He is playing as many minutes as possible and is in the game when it matters making huge plays down the stretch of both games. He showed why he has one of the highest upsides on the roster.

Other Value Guards

Top point-per-dollar value plays

  • CJ Fredrick, Kentucky ($3.3K) - If he starts, Fredrick is a lock at this price with 17 DKFP in his return from injury.
  • Lance Terry, Georgia Tech ($4.7K) - Value is loaded and Terry is fully in play. Maybe a pivot off the popular Suggs.
  • Trey Galloway, Indiana ($3.6K)
  • Noah Locke, Providence ($4.6K)
  • Jayhlon Young, UCF ($4.7K) - Check to see if he's starting. If he is, he gets a big bump.
  • Alyn Breed, UCF ($4.0K) - Huge upgrade if Bynum is out again.

CBB DFS Top Forwards

Trayce Jackson-Davis, Indiana vs. Wisconsin ($10.1K)

Not much to say here except that TJD is in a smash spot for the Hoosiers, He's at home against a Tyler Wahl-less Wisconsin and has been carrying this entire team, especially with Race Thompson and Xavier Johnson out. This number says it all — Wisconsin is ranked 345th in the nation with a 21.3% offensive rebounding rate while on the other hand, Jackson-Davis comes in with a 22.8% defensive rebound (105th) and 12.9% offensive rebound rate (81st). He has the highest ceiling of the slate today and you can fit him in with the amount of value today.

Taylor Hendricks, Central Florida @ Tulane ($7.9K)

Hendricks is one of the fastest-rising prospects in college and has the perfect build of a modern combo forward. He is an NBA draft prospect and gets an awesome pace up today against a running Tulane team. Tulane has one of the worst offenses when it comes to getting their shots blocked (13.5%- 356th in the nation) and look here — Hendricks has a 5.6% block rate (top 125 in the nation). He is a knockdown shooter from deep and he will get his opportunities today.

Jaemyn Brakefield, Mississippi vs. Georgia ($5.6K)

Brakefield is my top under the radar play as the former Duke recruit is in a nice spot today against one of the worst defenses in the nation. He now has five straight games of 20+ DKFP against some real good basketball teams and Georgia is giving up at least eight boards a game to opposing centers. Brakefield is playing at a very high level and nearly every minute of the game and it shows in his numbers as they keep on rising. At this price, Brakefield is a lock in my main lineup.

Other Top Forwards

Top point-per-dollar plays

  • Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky ($11K) - Will be lower owned than normal due to price and we all know the numbers that Tshiebwe is capable of, but I will not pay $11K on a cash lineup.
  • Mathew Murrell, Mississippi ($7K) - Scoring reliant but could smash this Georgia defense.
  • Blake Hinson, Pittsburgh ($7.8K) - Shooter and gets the Georgia Tech zone today.
  • Key Johnson, Kansas State ($8.8K) - Finally back smashing every night with 33.85 DKFP in his last five games.
  • Emanuel Miller, TCU ($7.3K) - 30+ DKFP in four of last five games and TCU is a sneaky team today.
  • Liam Robbins, Vanderbilt ($7.2K) - 30+ DKFP in five straight contests.
  • Kevin Cross, Tulane ($8.2K) - Top game environment — 25+ DKFP in five straight games.

CBB DFS Value Forwards

Jalen Washington, North Carolina @ Louisville ($3.4K)

We saw a breakout performance from Washington against a very good Virginia team in a game that was on the road. With Armando Bacot getting hurt early in the game and Pete Nance already out, Washington put up 13 points and six rebounds. When Bacot first got hurt UNC went small, but that didn’t work, as they only scored three points in the first seven minutes. Then enter Washington — who checked in at the 12-minute mark and proceeds to smash, scoring 10 of the Tar Heels’ next 19 points, After that breakout performance and with Bacot and Nance probably unable to go, we can expect Washington to slide into an increased role today against a very bad Louisville team. At $3.4K, Washington is a lock value.

Other Value Forwards

Top point-per-dollar value plays

  • Jordan Geronimo, Indiana ($3.9K) - Going right back to Geronimo today. Hopefully some stay off him after his dud last weekend, but he has put up 22+ DKFP in two of his last three games and should be guarded by young Carter Gilmore with Wahl likely out again today for Wisconsin.
  • Greg Gantt, North Carolina State ($5.0K) - Love this game environment and Gantt is a nice value GPP play.
  • Ebenezer Dowuona, North Carolina State ($3.4K)
  • Rodney Howard, Georgia Tech ($4.9K)

DraftKings Core

  • Caleb Love, North Carolina
  • Jaemyn Brakefield, Mississippi
  • Trayce Jackson-Davis, Indiana
  • Milos Uzan, Oklahoma
