College Basketball CBB DFS Top Plays 1/10

CBB DFS Top Guards

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPG
Markquis NowellKSUOKST1000038.78
Nowell is priced way up now, but we still have to consider it because of how hot he’s been. The Kansas State point guard has put up 56, 61, and 55 DK over the past three games and he just had 32 points and 14 assists last time out. It’s a ridiculous stretch and maybe he comes back down to Earth at some point soon, but he’s still averaging 40 DK over the past 10 games and should continue rolling at home against an easier opponent than the last two outings.
Caleb DanielsVUDEP870030.88
Daniels is pricey, but he’s been so consistent in his high-usage role with heavy shot volume for Villanova. The guard has put up 42 and 35 DK in the past two games and has 28+ DK in all five Big East matchups thus far. He should keep it going with Nova favored big over DePaul. Plus, there’s a ton of three-point upside with DePaul struggling to defend the perimeter and Daniels being the Wildcats’ top deep-ball shooter with 10+ attempts in back-to-back games coming in.
Terrence Shannon Jr.ILNEB790032.48
It’s been a tumultuous season for Illinois and for Terrence Shannon’s DFS outputs. More often than not, though, he’s produced with his high shot volume and heavy offensive usage. Things should be trending up with Skyy Clark leaving the team and Shannon taking on more ball-handling duties now. He just put up 24 points and 42 DK last game with Clark out and has that GPP upside again tonight.
Kihei ClarkUVUNC760026.7
Virginia gets a pace-boost against an inconsistent defensive team in UNC. That puts Clark, Armaan Franklin, and Reece Beekman all in play from the guard and wing spots. Franklin and Beekman are better suited for GPPs, while Clark is the safer cash play even with the more expensive price tag. The UVA point guard is regularly putting up 25 DK or more and he’s averaging 29 DK over the past 10 games.
Caleb LoveUNCUV700029.72
Love has been up-and-down this season, but he’s too cheap to ignore in GPPs on this slate. The 7k price tag is his lowest all year, despite dropping 18 points and 29 DK on Saturday. He always has the upside to go off for 30-40 DFS points and that ceiling is there if he gets hot from three against a UVA defense that tends to allow opposing scoring from the perimeter.
Eric Hunter JrBUTLESTJN670023.63
When any team faces St. John’s, it gives those players added upside because of the faster pace and higher-scoring game environment. That’s the case for Butler tonight and Eric Hunter has plenty of GPP potential. He’s coming off a poor performance last game and has some glaring duds in the past month, but we’ve still seen the 30+ DK ceiling at his best – as recently as a week ago too. It’s risky, sure, but it’s a nice contrarian play.

Also Consider:

  • Chucky Hepburn – Wisconsin ($7800) – GPP
  • Santiago Vescovi – Tennessee ($7300) – Cash
  • Grant Sherfield – Oklahoma ($7000) – Cash
  • De'Vion Harmon – Texas Tech ($6600) – GPP

Gabe KalscheurISUTTU560020.48
Kalscheur continues to have success in his expanded role with Aljaz Kunc out. He’s now put up 30+ DK in two of three games with Kunc sidelined and his shot volume has been higher and more consistent game-to-game over the past month. Kalscheur is too cheap for the potential 30 DK performance like he’s done three times in the past five contests.
Trae HannibalLSUUF540016.6
Hannibal moved into LSU’s starting lineup last game and had a season-high 39% usage rate with 23 DK. He now has 21+ DK in three straight games while moving into a bigger role in LSU’s backcourt since SEC play began. The Tigers get a notable pace-boost tonight vs Florida and Hannibal should be a solid cash value. You can also consider Adam Miller (cash) or Justice Hill (GPP) as cheap LSU guards tonight.
Jayden EppsILNEB510016.07
Though he’s still coming off the bench, Epps is now in a bigger and more solidified offensive role for Illinois with Skyy Clark gone. Epps had 15 points and 22 DK across 29 minutes last game with Clark out and that production should be more consistent with increased usage. He’s still going to play starter-level minutes even if he isn’t among the first five out there.
Lamar WashingtonTTUISU430012.55
With Pop Isaacs out on Saturday, we saw Washington get a starting nod in Texas Tech’s backcourt as expected. He played a season-high 36 minutes and put up 16 DK. It’s not a big DFS output, but at least we know he’s going to be on the court plenty for Tech if Isaacs remains out tonight with his concussion. Washington’s price tag hasn’t changed, so he’s still a good value for the possible 6x return.
Seth TrimbleUNCUV38007.09
Trimble moved into UNC’s starting lineup last game with Pete Nance out and he put up 15 DK across 23 minutes. The freshman also scored 11 points with 17 DK in 22 minutes off the bench in the game prior when Nance left early. UNC has now used Trimble in guard-heavy lineups in multiple games this season when Nance and Armando Bacot (previously) have been sidelined. The pace-down and tough matchup vs Virginia makes it tough to trust Trimble in cash, but the opportunity and minutes are there if Nance remains out.

Also Consider:

  • Adam Miller – LSU ($5500) – Cash
  • Milos Uzan – Oklahoma ($4800) – Cash
  • Kowacie Reeves – Florida ($4700) – GPP
  • Allen Flanigan – Auburn ($4300) – GPP
  • Myreon Jones – Florida ($3300) – GPP

CBB DFS Top Forwards

Joel SorianoSTJNBUTLE970036.26
Soriano continues to be a double-double machine with almost no dud outings so far this season. He’s very expensive tonight, but the St. John’s center could go a tad overlooked with Oscar Tshiebwe, Armando Bacot, and other talented forwards in action. Butler has a weaker interior defense while being a poor offensive rebounding team. It sets up nicely for Soriano to record yet another double-double with 40 DK. Opposing bigs have had success against Butler all season, including big games for UConn’s Adama Sanogo and Crieghton’s Ryan Kalkbrenner during Big East play.
Colin CastletonUFLSU910035.07
The head-to-head matchup between Florida’s Colin Castleton and LSU’s KJ Williams should be a good watch tonight, and it’s likely both will be good DFS plays at similar price tags. Castleton is coming off of a stat-stuffing 42 DK performance and he has the same upside tonight. LSU has been a poor rebounding team in conference play and the interior defense is in the bottom-tier of college basketball. Oscar Tshiebwe went for 19 points/16 rebounds in this matchup and even Arkansas’ Makhi Mitchell had eight points/12 rebounds.
Keyontae JohnsonKSUOKST850033.73
Like his teammate Nowell, Johnson has been a DFS stud lately as the duo have Kansas State rolling. As for Johnson, he’s at a pretty affordable price point still compared to other top forwards and players on this slate. He’s now scored 23+ points with 41+ DK in two straight and three of the last five games. Johnson has performed well on the road at Texas and Baylor, so a home matchup vs Ok St should make him a strong cash stud again.
Steven CrowlWISCMSU760027.64
A key injury to monitor tonight is that of Tyler Wahl, who’s a game-time decision with an ankle injury. Wisconsin’s best player missed Saturday’s game and it resulted in Steven Crowl taking on a much-bigger offensive role. The center had 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 42 DK with a season-high 37% usage rate. The Badgers’ offense basically revolved around him and Chucky Hepburn, so both are firmly in play for cash or GPP tonight if Wahl sits. Crowl is also quietly averaging 28 DK over the past 10 contests.
Cam WhitmoreVUDEP680022.86
Whitmore has been a bit boom-or-bust this season, but the high’s would make him a GPP bargain at this sub-7k price tag at his best. The talented freshman is coming off a 26-point, 32 DK performance on Saturday vs Xavier and he’s shown the upside for 30+ DFS points multiple times this year. Still, the low’s are in the 20 DK range or lower. It appears, though, that Nova is giving him the keys to the offense more and more as conference play continues on as he just took 18 shots last game and 11 the game prior.

Also Consider:

  • Oscar Tshiebwe – Kentucky ($10800) – GPP
  • Jalen Wilson – Kansas ($9200) – Cash
  • Derrick Walker – Nebraska ($7500) – GPP/Cash

CBB DFS Value Forwards

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPG
KJ Adams Jr.KUOU570021.57
Adams is now priced below 6k, which puts him squarely on our radar as a value play. He’s averaging 23 DK over the past 10 games and has now scored in double figures in eight straight. Adams doesn’t get the same national recognition as Wilson, McCullers, or Dick, but he’s a solid piece of Kansas’ offense and he offers plenty of ancillary stats to return value. Plus, there’s more upside tonight against a weak Oklahoma interior defense, which is where Adams scores most of his points.
Jalen HillOUKU530020
On the opposite side of Adams in that matchup, Hill is a good value to consider in all formats from OU. It’s odd to see him priced this cheap considering he’s put up 38 and 22 DK in the past two games and he’s averaging 16 PPG during conference play thus far. On the road at Kansas is definitely a tough matchup, but Hill should do enough to return value in cash or GPP.
Lance WareUKSCAR350010.21
It’s possible we get Ware back in Kentucky’s starting lineup if Jacob Toppin sits out tonight. Toppin left Saturday’s game early with a shoulder injury, so check on his status pre-game. Ware started two games ago and put up 17 DK across 30 minutes, so the track record is there for production with an increase in minutes. It’s a bit risky with how bad Kentucky’s playing right now, but at least this matchup vs South Carolina is easier.
Abayomi IyiolaKSUOKST350011.18
Iyiola has now started the past three games with David N’Guessan out and he’s put up 25, 15, and 21 DK in those contests. There’s no reason for the big man to be priced this cheap still and we should continue taking advantage of the mispricing. Plus, Iyiola may have an even easier time in the paint if Moussa Cisse sits out for Oklahoma State.
Puff JohnsonUNCUV30009.52
Pete Nance is a game-time decision and if he’s out, then Johnson should be strongly considered at the min price tonight. With Nance out last game, Johnson played 22 minutes and put up 21 DK (11 points, six rebounds). He didn’t start, but the junior still played a key role off the bench for UNC’s frontcourt. Johnson could be needed for 20-25 minutes again if Virginia rolls with bigger lineups.

Also Consider:

  • Yor Anei – DePaul ($5500) – GPP
  • Jonas Aidoo – Tennessee ($5200) – Cash
  • Jalen Thomas – Butler ($4200) – GPP
  • Osun Osunniyi – Iowa State ($4100) – GPP/Cash
  • Robert Jennings – Texas Tech ($3000) – Cash
