College Basketball CBB DFS Top Plays February 25th
CBB DFS Top Guards
Terry Roberts, Georgia vs. Missouri ($6.8K DK)
Roberts seems to be fully back from his concussion and at $6.8K, he is a steal on today’s slate. The Bulldogs' lead guard has the ball in hands most of the time as he leads the team with a 29.6% usage rate, ranking 52nd in the country. In addition to being one of the top scorers in the SEC and leading Georgia in points (13.8 PPG), Roberts also leads the team with an assist rate of 33.0%, which ranks 36th in the nation. Roberts — a Bradley transfer who was 2021-22 Missouri Valley Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Conference — now has five 20-point games this season and it could very well be six by the end of the day.
Justin Moore, Villanova vs. Creighton ($6.6K DK/$5.5K FD)
Moore played his best game of the season against Xavier on Tuesday night. He finally was looking like the elite player who gave Villanova immense upside before his injury. With 25 points, three rebounds, three assists, and 36 DraftKings Fantasy Points (DKFP), a healthy Moore gives Nova a much better version than what we saw all season. After missing the first two months and then taking a while to get back to game shape, Xavier was the unlucky victim of Moore’s emergence and Creighton may be next today as Villanova needs to run the table over the next couple of weeks to get back into NCAA tournament contention.
Other Top Guards
- Markquis Nowell, Kansas State ($9.1K DK) - 16.8 PPG and 6.4 APG for Nowell over his last five games. He's the top spend up at guard.
- Marcus Carr, Texas ($7.8K DK/$7.5K FD) - I have a feeling that Carr is going to fly right under the radar here and the game environment and pace means he could nuke. Beware though, Carr has been known to let us down in spots.
- Mike Miles Jr., TCU ($7.7K) - Miles has back-to-back 21 DKFP games and is playing 30+ minutes since his return from injury.
- Jaylon Tyson, Texas Tech ($7.3K) - Tyson has 39 and 32 DKFP in his last two games and we love a rebounding guard for more scoring upside.
- D’Moi Hodge, Missouri ($7.1K) - Hodge is a sneaky play here as Georgia is allowing 25 DKFP per game to shooting guards. Hodge also has a 24.7% shot rate and is ranked eighth in the nation with a 5.1% steal rate.
- Alex Karaban, UCONN ($6.2K) - Great game environment vs. St. John's today. Karaban has the 18th-highest O-Reb % in Big East and second in overall offensive rating (176.4). He's a sneaky play today.
CBB DFS Value Guard
Nick Smith Jr., Arkansas @ Alabama ($5.4K DK/$5.4K FD)
Nick Smith Jr. has finally arrived! The day that Arkansas basketball fans have been waiting for all season came on Tuesday as the freshman phenom scored 26 points (32 DKFP) and helped the Razorbacks slam Georgia 97-65 at Bud Walton Arena, Arkansas' home floor. Smith is a NBA lottery pick that needed a couple of games back on the floor to get reacquainted with timing so he should now be a matchup-proof DFS play. If Smith can put together more performances like his showing against Georgia against better teams and on bigger stages like today against a tough Alabama defense, then this $5.4K salary will be smashed by halftime.
Other Value Guards
- Kario Oquendo, Georgia ($5.2K) - Oquendo would be a main-lineup play at this price due to his 25.9% usage and 28.1% shot rates, but his peripheral stats are lacking.
- Caleb Asberry, Oklahoma State ($5.0K DK/$4.6K FD) - Playing 30+ minutes with 20+ DKFP in two of his last four games.
- Andre Curbelo, St. John’s ($4.5K) - Went from doghouse to 29 DKFP game against Georgetown. Curbelo could be chalky due to being priced so low.
- Milos Uzan, Oklahoma ($4.8K) - Uzan has double-figure scoring in five of last seven games. He's a GPP-only play.
- Tre Gomillion, Missouri ($3.3K) - Gomillion is my favorite punt value of the slate and a possible main team-type play. He returned from a lengthy absence to play 28 minutes against Mississippi State and put up 27 DKFP. If he gets 25+ minutes again today against Georgia, he will smash value.
- Sean East II, Missouri ($4.9K) - East is a risky play but a great GPP play as East can get hot.
CBB DFS Top Forwards
Kobe Brown (G/F), Missouri @ Georgia ($8.7K)
Kobe Brown — Missouri's do-everything player — is having an awesome season. He combines strength and basketball instincts and can score in so many ways. He can drive to the rim, shoot from beyond the arc, pop pull-up jumpers, and lead the team in transition as well as pull down boards and pass out dimes. Over the last 31 years of Missouri basketball, the sharp-shooting Brown is the only player from Mizzou to make at least 57% of his shots from the floor, connect on 45% of his three-pointers, and convert 79.8% of his free-throw attempts. With a 36 DKFP average, 17.6 PPG, and 6.0 RPG over his last five games, Brown is in a smash spot against Georgia and their 121st ranked adjusted defense in the nation.
Fardaws Aimaq, Texas Tech vs. TCU ($7.1K/$6.3K FD)
Texas Tech is one of the hottest teams in the Big 12 and a healthy Fardaws Aimaq is one of the main engineers of this reversal of fortune. Aimaq, a highly sought-after transfer from Utah Valley, was sidelined due to a preseason foot injury but is finally back. Over the last three games, he's averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds with two double-doubles. He scored a season-high 19 points and collected 10 rebounds in Tuesday's 74-63 road victory over Oklahoma (36 DKFP) and now has 96 DKFP over the last three games. Aimaq is a core play for me today against TCU.
Other Top Forwards
- Brandon Miller, Alabama ($9.3K DK/$8.7K FD) - Coming off a 61 DKFP monster outing. Say no more.
- Kris Murray, Iowa ($9.0K DK) - Will always be popular with 28% usage and 32 DKFP in his last five games, but I will take the $1.8K discount on teammate Filip Rebraca.
- Oumar Ballo, Arizona ($8.0K DK) - Azuolas Tubelis is too expensive at $9.7K, which makes Ballo a nice pivot if you want a piece of Arizona's offense. Ballo is coming off of a 45 DKFP game against Colorado and is a daily double-double threat.
- Joel Soriano, St. John’s ($8.6K) - Tied with Purdue's Zach Edey for most double-doubles in the nation (21) and is now a matchup-proof sub-$9K. Enough said.
- Filip Rebraca, Iowa ($7.2K) - Bigs vs. Michigan State have been a thing all season. Rebraca has 28.5% combined rebound rate for Iowa this season.
- PJ Hall, Clemson ($8.2K) - An elite matchup for low-rostered Hall and Hunter Tyson. Hall carries a 29.2% usage, 31.7% shot rate and today, could nuke this slate.
- Jalen Hill, Oklahoma ($6.1K) - A terrible game environment at Iowa State today, but I have a gut feeling that Hill explodes here. Hill had 40 DKFP in first meeting and now has four straight 25+ DKFP games.
CBB DFS Value Forward
Brock Cunningham, Texas @ Baylor ($4.0K DK/$4.1K FD)
This shows the lack of punt value on this slate but Cunningham will see rostership today. If you watch him play, you have to admit that he has an insane work ethic on both ends of the floor and has displayed a few new tools he’s added to his arsenal over the last season or two. He is money from deep when called upon and has come up with some clutch loose balls and offensive rebounds over the last three games. He is also the first Big 12 reserve player this season to have three games with at least four offensive boards and a steal. With back-to-back 20+ DKFP games, negative regression could be coming but if the minutes stay where they are, Cunningham should still hit 4-5X value and that’s all we ask for.
Other Value Forwards
- Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua, Baylor ($5.1K DK/$4.1K FD) - Coming off a double-double 11 point, 12 rebound game against Kansas State. If JTT gets his 25 minutes, he will hit 5X value and can be considered a main-team type value play.
- Mohamed Diarra, Missouri ($4.5K DK) - Diarra let us down this week in his first start of the season with two quick fouls, but now we get him low-rostered in a bounce-back game against a weak Georgia Bulldogs team.
- Greg Gantt, North Carolina State ($3.2K) - If Jack Clark is out, then Gantt becomes a top value for me with his on-ball defense.
- Charles Bediako, Alabama ($4.8K DK/$4.9K FD) - If he stays out of foul trouble, Bediako could smash today as the Crimson Tide needs his size against a big Arkansas team.
- Ian Schieffelin, Clemson ($3.9K DK) - Schieffelin smashed Syracuse for 30 DKFP in 30 minutes last week.
