College Basketball CBB DFS Top Plays February 18th

CBB DFS Top Guards

Jordan Miller, Miami vs. Wake Forest ($8.0K DK)

Miller has increased his scoring by five points per game since last season but more importantly is still doing all the other things he does even better: defend, rebound, dish out the dimes and have the knack of being in the right place at the right time. Miller has also become a better shooter, raising his three-point percentage from 29% to 35.6% and is coming off an impressive double-double where he scored 24 points and pulled down a season-high 11-rebounds (41.3 DKFP) last week against North Carolina. Isaiah Wong might get all of the fanfare for Miami but right now, Jordan Miller is the most important player on the Canes and is in an awesome game environment today at home in a 156.5 game total against Wake Forest.

Anthony Black, Arkansas vs. Florida ($7.9K DK/$7.8K FD)

Black has emerged as one of the NBA draft’s elite prospects, an opinion not held by many earlier in the season due to concerns surrounding his individual scoring ability. The 6-foot-7 lead guard with great physical tools and the ability to make every pass was still able to put up 27.75 DKFP against Texas A&M in his last game even after going 3-for-8 from the field. He had back-to-back 40+ DKFP games in the two before that and over these three games has now scored over 50 real points, with 12 rebounds, 18 assists and 10 steals in that span.

Other Top Guards

  • Tyree Appleby, Wake Forest ($9.6K DK) - 30% usage while averaging 15.6 PPG and seven assists per game (40 DKFP) in his last five games.
  • Markquis Nowell, Kansas State ($9.3K/$8.2K FD) - Has a tough matchup but Nowell can take over any slate. He has 30+ DKFP in every game but one since January 17th.
  • Kadary Richmond, Seton Hall ($8.8K DK) - Richmond torched UCONN in his last meeting with 18 points,10 rebounds (38.5 DKFP). He's a stat-sheet stuffer and a safe cash play today.
  • Matthew Mayer (G/F), Illinois ($7.8K DK/$6.7K FD) - Mayer will see an uptick in usage with Terrence Shannon out. Has 16.4 PPG and 6.4 RPG in his last five games.
  • Marcus Carr, Texas ($8.2K DK) - Carr has three straight 34+ DKFP games with a 24% usage, 26% shot, and 23.2% assist rate.
  • Darin Green Jr., Florida State ($6.3K DK) - Green is an interesting GPP if Matthew Cleveland is out again, and Green is not afraid to shoot the ball.
  • Davonte Davis, Arkansas ($6.8K DK/$5.2K FD) - Davis is a FanDuel lock due to price and he plays every minute with over 20 DKFP in every game since January 7th.

CBB DFS Value Guards

Joe Toussaint, West Virginia vs. Texas Tech ($4.2K DK)

Toussaint is arguably the best sixth man in the Big 12 Conference and one look at his KenPom rates has me licking my chops for today’s game against Texas Tech. When on the floor, the Iowa transfer is nationally ranked with a 25.3% usage, 26.1% shot, and 23.5% assist rate. He had his best game as a Mountaineer in the earlier matchup against Tech torching the Red Raiders for 22 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals for 39 DKFP. We absolutely love this spot for Toussaint in GPPs (due to a low floor) and hopefully, we can catch him a little lower-rostered on the field.

Other Value Guards

  • Andre Jackson, Connecticut ($4.9K) - Yes, you read it right: $4.9K for Andre Jackson. The former $7K player is in the midst of a horrible shooting and foul slump but could breakout of his slump at any time. He's a great GPP play.
  • Kedrian Johnson, West Virginia ($5.1K DK) - Always interested in Johnson as he plays nearly every minute and will not hurt your lineup. Johnson has 27+ DKFP in two of last four games with an assist rate near 40% in the same span.
  • Myreon Jones, Florida ($4.7K DK/$4.5K FD) - One of my all-time DFS favs, Jones will see more usage now with Colin Castleton breaking his hand and we will get him low-rostered. He's my sneaky “gut play” of the slate.
  • Ty Rodgers (G/F), Illinois ($4.3K DK/$4.1K FD) - Rodgers will see usage rise with Terrence Shannon out and coming off a 26-minute, 27 DKFP game at Penn State.
  • Sencire Harris, Illinois ($3.1K DK/$3.8K FD) - Should see 20+ minutes with Terrence Shannon out today.
  • Tyreke Key, Tennessee ($4.0K DK/$4.8K FD) - If Josiah-Jordan James and Julian Phillips are out again, Key is a cash value due to shot volume and minutes- 22% usage when on floor over the last 5 games.
  • Otega Oweh, Oklahoma ($4.3K DK) - Oweh has 15 DKFP in five straight games and minutes continue to trend up. He can be used as a cash value.
  • Chas Kelley III, Boston College ($3.8K DK) - Kelley is a sneaky GPP value if DeMarr Langford is out. He has three straight 20+ minute games with 28, 14, and 17 DKFP respectively.
  • John-Michael Wright, Oklahoma State ($5.4K DK/$4.9K FD) - At least 24 DKFP in three of the last four games with Avery Anderson out for the season. He's scoring-reliant so play him in GPP only at a nice FanDuel price.
  • Tyrese Hunter, Texas ($4.3K DK) - Tyrese Hunter is now a $4.3K player? This kid was a star as a freshman last year at Iowa State and has all the talent in the world. He’s playing 30+ minutes per game and is still shooting the ball. Hunter is a GPP-winning type “boom-or-bust” play.
  • Jahmai Mashak, Tennessee ($3.4K DK/$3.3K FD) Mashak is seeing the minutes and you've got to love the price, but I am a bit worried about this popular value play. He needs more than 11 DKFP in 30 minutes to excite me.
  • Mason Madsen, Boston College ($3.9K DK) DeMarr Langford Jr. must be out for this to be a value play.

CBB DFS Top Forwards

Trayce Jackson-Davis, Indiana vs. Illinois ($11.5K DK/$9.5K FD)

When Kofi Cockburn was in the paint for Illinois it was a little easier keeping Jackson-Davis in check but without the All-American, Jackson-Davis has dominated the Fighting Illini. Jackson-Davis went off on January 19th, where he finished with 35 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three blocks on 15-of-19 shooting from the field for 58 DKFP! So it's clearly difficult to slow him down. This season alone, he is averaging 20.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.0 blocks per game and has topped 50 DKFP in four of his last five games played. I am paying up for Jackson-Davis as he should be a priority on what could end up being a low-scoring slate.

Quinten Post, Boston College @ Florida State ($8.5K DK)

Besides a tendency to get himself into foul trouble, Post continues to be in great form for the Eagles. He is garnering a 29% usage rate across his last six games with half of those being double-doubles and now faces a struggling Florida State squad that is ranked 266th in offensive rebounding (25.7%) and an even worse 322nd in defensive rebounds (32.5%). The Seminoles have forgotten how to play defense so we will see a ceiling game here for the big Dutchman if he keeps his hand to himself.

Other Top Forwards

  • Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky ($9.8K DK/$8.8K FD) - It’s Big O — enough said. He's matchup proof and always in play. He's a nice Trayce Jackson-Davis GPP pivot.
  • Norchad Omier, Miami ($8.8K DK) - I really like this spot for Omier today. Wake Forest can’t contain the big guy and he will be low-rostered after his dud performance against North Carolina.
  • Matthew Mayer (G/F), Illinois ($7.8K DK/$6.7K FD) - Mayer will see an uptick in usage with Terrence Shannon out. Has 16.4 PPG and 6.4 RPG in his last five games.
  • Kalib Boone, Oklahoma State ($7.6K DK/$6.4K FD) - Boone has 25 DKFP in seven straight contests and 39 DKFP in his first meeting against TCU.
  • Moussa Cisse, Oklahoma State ($5.9K DK/$5.6K FD) - Not starting for the Cowbots, but up to 25 minutes. He has a blow-up game coming soon and it may be today. Has 7.4 PPG/7.4 RPG over the last five games but he can double those numbers with a very high ceiling.
  • Ben Vander Plas, Virginia ($6.0K DK) - Vander Plas has a really safe floor here, though his price did go up a bit. He's coming off a double-double against Louisville.

CBB DFS Value Forward

Baba Miller, Florida State vs. Boston College ($4.0K)

The 6-foot-11, 204-pound big man from Mallorca, Spain has finally been unleashed by Leonard Hamilton and saw his best performance to-date on Wednesday night at Clemson with 12 points and six rebounds (27 DKFP). He's a young raw talent that is effective on the boards, a decent perimeter shooter, a threat to block shots, and can run the floor. With the Seminoles amid one of the worst seasons of the Leonard Hamilton era, Miller will continue to get more minutes and could definitely 6-7X smash the slate.

Other Value Forwards

  • Jason Jitoboh, Florida ($3.0K DK/$3.7K FD) - Jitoboh will be high-rostered today at minimum price with Colin Castleton out with a broken hand. Beware that this may be a trap with his 8.6% foul rate, and this is not our first rodeo with this player. On the other hand, he is dirt cheap and if he doesn’t foul, he should at least hit 4-5X value. This is the biggest decision of the slate.
  • Aljaz Kunc, Iowa State ($5.9K DK/$4.7K FD) - Kunc is back from injury and has started last two games putting up 59 DKFP. I love this value here.
  • Donovan Clingan, Connecticut ($5.8K) - Clingan is a great GPP value play if Adama Sanogo (non-COVID illness) is out. Has 6.8 RPG over his last five games.
  • Jonas Aidoo, Tennessee ($5.1K) - Aidoo has a nice price if Julian Phillips is out again after starting two straight games. He's also coming off a double-double against Alabama and can see a 5-6X game if everything falls his way.
  • Ty Rodgers (G/F), Illinois ($4.3K DK/$4.1K FD) - Rodgers will see usage rise with Terrence Shannon out and coming off a 26-minute, 27 DKFP game at Penn State.
  • Ven-Allen Lubin, Notre Dame ($4.9K DK) - Lubin is a starter playing 20+ minutes and should be safe for 4-5X value. He has 20 DKFP in his last five games.
