CBB DFS TOP GUARDS

Kendric Davis - Memphis vs. Temple ($10.4K) and Khalif Battle - Temple @ Memphis ($7.5K)

This game between Memphis and Temple is headlined by two dynamic scorers that can put points on the board in a hurry, AAC’s leading scorer Kendric Davis of Memphis (21.8 PPG) and the conference’s fourth leading scorer, Temple’s Khalif Battle (18.4 points). Davis has been a Sunday hero for us all season with a 31.5% usage and 30% shot rate and is averaging 44 DKFP over his last five contests. Battle is one of the most confident multi-level shot makers in the country and he will enter the matchup against Memphis coming off a season-high 27 points versus SMU for his fourth straight game scoring 20 or more points. The biggest difference between Davis and Battle lies in Davis’s playmaking as he’s dishing out 6.1 assists per game with that amazing court vision. Kendric Davis is the top overall guard on the slate but due to his price and the presence of Zach Edey ($11.4K) we may see him come in a bit under owned today. Battle on the other hand (33+ DKFP in three of his last four games with a 27.2% usage/32.7% shot rate) is in play in all formats at a reasonable price.

Braden Smith - Purdue @ Northwestern ($6.7K)

Last year’s Indiana Mr. Basketball was overlooked and undervalued in the recruiting world and it shows with the chip he plays with on his shoulder. With more and more teams emphasizing Zach Edey by throwing multiple defenders at him, the Purdue freshman is putting up career nights like he did on Thursday. Sparked by two early three-pointers, Smith scored a career-high 24 points to go with five assists and four rebounds against Iowa. Per college basketball analytics Smith has improved more than any player this season based on BPR (Bayesian Performance Rating), an algorithm used to project a player's impact. A 42.3% three-point shooter, Smith can get hot in a hurry from out behind the arc and with Northwestern’s focus on stopping Edey, they may forget about Smith and he’s much too lethal from deep to be left alone.

Other Top Guards

  • Damian Dunn - Temple ($6.5K) GPP.  Dunn is electric but can be tilting. 25.7% usage/25.3% shot rate. Doesn’t start but will play for at least 30 mins and averages 26.7 DKFP over the last five games.
  • Zhuric Phelps - SMU ($7.9K) GPP. One of my favorite CBB players has been up and down since a mid-January injury but you still cannot deny a 32.3% usage (sixth in the nation) and 35.0% shot (fifth in the nation).
  • AJ Hoggard - Michigan State ($7.0K) Cash/GPP. Hoggard leads the team with 27.2% usage and a 38.9% assist rate is fifth in the entire nation.
  • Tyson Walker - Michigan State ($6.2K) Cash. Walker’s lowest price since November. He has settled into a 25 DKFP floor but lacks a ceiling.
  • Ta’Lon Cooper - Minnesota ($7.3K) Cash/GPP. Cooper has a 25.4% usage rate in the last five games and ranks 20th in the nation with a 34.9% assist rate.
  • Zach Nuttall - SMU ($6.1K) Cash. Solid price with a 25.4% shot and 19.0% assist rate.
  • Craig Porter Jr. - Wichita State ($9.0K) Cash/GPP. Will be hard to play in cash due to price and presence of Davis on slate but he can put up FP in a hurry. 34+ DKFP in four of last five games.

CBB TOP GUARD VALUE

Elijah McCadden - Memphis vs. Temple ($4.9K)

Penny Hardaway had one of the best transfer portal hauls of the 2022 offseason. He promised Kendric Davis a heavy usage rate and he sure wasn’t kidding as Davis has the second-highest usage rate in the AAC and one of the highest in the country as well as being one of the top scorers in the nation. Davis may have received all the glory but one unheralded transfer in this group that fell through the cracks was McCadden who has turned into a really reliable role player in the Memphis backcourt. The Georgia Southern transfer has 21 rebounds over his last three games with half being on the offensive end. In that same span he put up 27, 21, and 25 DKFP while being a 30-minute player. Nice price here on a Zach Edey slate where we will need value we can get.

Other Guard Value

  • Jaron Pierre Jr. - Wichita State ($5.1K) Pierre Jr. was our top guard value last Sunday and all he did was put up 27 DKFP on 19 points (18 shots). For an encore he scored 29 DKFP on Wednesday against a tough UCF team (14 points and eight rebounds) and now he gets to face SMU at a still reasonable $5.1K.
  • Fletcher Loyer - Purdue ($5.9K) Freshman Loyer is second on the Boilermakers in scoring, averaging 12.6 PPG off 34.7% three-point shooting. Loyer has range but is shot reliant and has settled into a 17-25 DKFP floor/ceiling. He can get hot at any time.
  • Ethan Morton - Purdue ($4.1K) Morton should play at least 30 minutes with an 18-20 DKFP floor. That doesn’t seem like much but it’s 5X value and when you play that many minutes anything can happen.
  • Sean McNeil - Ohio State ($4.5K) Another player that plays 30+ minutes but doesn’t give much offense. He has had two down games, but before that had double-digit DKFP in every game since late November.

TOP CBB DFS FORWARDS

Zach Edey - Purdue @ Northwestern ($11.4K)

Do I even have to write anything? Edey has been the best player in college basketball all season. The Canadian star leads the Big Ten in scoring with 22.1 PPG and rebounding with 13.2 RPG and even in Purdue’s loss against Indiana last week, Edey had 33 points and 18 rebounds. He’s unstoppable and needs to be in all cash lineups.

Kris Murray - Iowa @ Minnesota ($9.4K)

If you just can’t get up to the $11.4K Edey price tag or are looking for a GPP pivot then Murray is the play. He is averaging a team-best 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per outing and has scored 30+ points four times this season (30 vs. Indiana; 32 at Penn State; 31 vs. Georgia Tech; 30 vs. Omaha). Murray is one of 14 players nationally with four or more 30-point performances this season and is one of four Hawkeyes to score 30+ at least four times in the Fran McCaffery era. Minnesota has a bad defense but the game may stay close with the Gophers at home so we could see a smash performance out of Murray today.

Zach Hicks - Temple @ Memphis ($6.0K)

Davis and Battle may be the NBA prospects that are most ready in this game between Memphis and Temple today, but Zack Hicks may be the best overall prospect. Hicks has the size and shooting that are always at the top of the NBA wish lists and at this $6.0K he makes for a fine DFS play. The 6-foot-7 sophomore wing’s size and shooting pairing has led to a 36% three-point shooting clip in his college career and he is also starting to impact the game as a defender with his size and length which will impact his fantasy floor and ceiling. Hicks will be low owned and with a 2.1 FC/40 you do not have to worry about foul trouble. He will be in at least one of my two main lineups today.

Justice Sueing - Ohio State vs. Michigan State ($6.1K)

Sueing has averaged 16.5 points while shooting over 50% from the floor over the last two games. Over the last five games he is the team’s second-highest usage player at 23.6% (only behind star Brice Sensabaugh) and is averaging over 24 DKFP at home. This is a solid price for the veteran forward that has put up 24, 24, and 31 DKFP over his last three games. If you do not feel comfortable with Sueing in this range you can look towards Kenny Pohto of Wichita State.

Other Top Forwards

  • DeAndre Williams - Memphis $9.7K) Cash/GPP. A brand favorite, Williams is a beast and averaging 42 DKFP in his last five games. Always in play and is an Edey GPP pivot.
  • Kenny Pohto - Wichita State ($6.4K) Cash.  Walton’s return has hurt Pohto a bit, but this is a solid price. He has 27, 31, and 24 DKFP over the last three games and SMU will give up rebounds.
  • James Rojas - Wichita State ($7.6K) GPP.  Rojas had been totally smashing but finally ran out of gas against UCF this week (17 DKFP). He should get right back on track today against SMU as Rojas has a 25% usage rate over the last five with a 14.6 PPG/6.8 RPG.
  • Zed Key - Ohio State ($6.5K) Cash/GPP. Key has settled in with a 20-25 DKFP floor/ceiling so we should see 4X here but 5X is pushing it. Averaging seven boards over the last five games but needs to put the ball in the basket more.
  • Flip Rebraca - Iowa ($7.4K) Cash/GPP. The Murray Iowa pivot. Plays almost every minute with a 14.6 PPG/6.8 RPG average over the last five games. Does have a 40 DKFP ceiling which we saw against Northwestern two weeks ago.
  • Efew Odigie - SMU ($6.2K) Cash/GPP. 25% usage over his last five games and coming off a double-double against Temple where Odigie had ten points and 11 rebounds.

CBB TOP FORWARD VALUE

  • Jaden Henley - Minnesota vs. Iowa ($3.6K) Cash/GPP. Henley has been solid over the last four games with fluctuating minutes. If he plays 30 minutes (like he did last Saturday against Maryland), then he should be good for 20-25 DKFP in a pace up game. His minutes have been 32, 19, 13, and 29 over his last four games but he will be a popular but risky play today due to price.
  • Pharrel Payne - Minnesota ($5.8K) Cash/GPP. This is a news-dependent play. If Dawson Garcia is still out, then Pane is in play as he is coming off a big 30 DKFP game against Maryland.
  • Malik Hall - Michigan State ($5.2K) GPP. If we could ever get 30 minutes from Hall he would be a main play at this price but only averaging 18 minutes over his last four games since his return from injury. Should return 4-5X value today.
  • Patrick McCaffery - Iowa ($4.9K) Cash/GPP. Working his way back to 30 minutes. Since his return from injury he has played 9, 14, and 20 minutes. A $4.8K Patrick McCaffery at 25 minutes today is a steal. Interesting play that I need to dig in a little more on before lock.
  • Keon Ambrose-Hylton - SMU ($3.8K) Cash/GPP. Total punt with a 10-16 DKFP floor/ceiling.
