College Basketball CBB DFS Picks 2/1

CBB DFS Top Guards

Jalen PickettPSUPUR950041.04
The price tag is steep for Pickett, but you know what you’re getting with the stat-stuffer. He’s coming off a 50 DK performance last game and is now averaging 19.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 40 DK over the past 10 games. Pickett does it all for Penn State and he was excellent earlier this season against Purdue with 26 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists for 52 DK. If you have the room, fit him in.
Bryce HopkinsPROVXAV860033.31
Hopkins is now priced at $8600 for back-to-back games and it’s the cheapest he’s been since late December. We should take advantage while we can, especially in a pace-boost spot here vs Xavier where Hopkins can have more success offensively inside with Zach Freemantle sidelined. Hopkins is averaging a strong 17.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 35 DK over the past 10 games and should post similar numbers tonight.
Colby JonesXAVPROV790031.77
Jones is already a high-usage and heavy-shot volume player for Xavier, but he’ll be needed even more tonight with Zach Freemantle out. Expect more rebounding opportunities and Jones to be locked into his offensive role more with Freemantle out for the next month. Souley Boum is also a great play, but Jones is notably cheaper tonight for similar or even better DFS production.
Ryan NembhardCREGU710025.02
Nembhard is coming on strong lately with 30+ DK in three straight and in four of the last five games. The Creighton point guard nearly had a triple-double on Saturday vs Xavier and has double-digit rebounds in two of the last three contests. Nembhard is playing with a ton of confidence right now and it’s coinciding with Creighton playing much better. He looks like a great play against a bad Georgetown team tonight.
Kadary RichmondSHUSTJN700025.81
This is a huge pace-boost spot for Seton Hall tonight and it should benefit Richmond running the point. He went for a stat-stuffing 47 DK effort vs St. John’s earlier this season (19 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals) and has the upside to duplicate that. Richmond has been up and down for DFS, hence the cheaper price tag, but we should pounce on the discount for the potential 30-40 DK or more in this matchup.

Also Consider:

  • Terquavion Smith – NC State ($9300) – GPP
  • RJ Davis – North Carolina ($8400) – GPP/Cash
  • Jamarius Burton – Pittsburgh ($8000) – Cash
  • Devin Carter – Providence ($7800) – GPP
  • Grant Sherfield – Oklahoma ($7100) – GPP

CBB DFS Value Guards

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPG
Justin MooreVUMARQ590015.5
Moore returned from his injury on Sunday and immediately logged 31 minutes as Villanova is desperate for him to be a difference-maker. He had just 15 DK in the game and shot it poorly (2-for-8 from the field, 0-for-4 from three). Still, once Moore gets more comfortable, he’ll be playing and shooting a lot better than that. This is just too cheap for Moore based on his talent alone and there’s more upside tonight in a pace-boost matchup vs Marquette.
Adam KunkelXAVPROV550019.76
Kunkel is really affordable for a guy that has 23+ DK and 12+ points scored in four of the last five games and is averaging 20 DK over the past 10 contests. Plus, like other Xavier players, Kunkel will be locked into more minutes, offensive usage, and overall ancillary stats with Zach Freemantle now out. Even in a pace-down situation, Kunkel is a very solid cash play tonight at this affordable price tag.
Jared BynumPROVXAV550020.08
Bynum is finally back from injury and he looked pretty good on Sunday with 19 points and 33 DK despite only playing 24 minutes. He’s slowly getting ramped up and could be starting for Providence tonight with 30+ minutes. Even if he doesn’t start, Bynum’s last performance is a good indication that he’s feeling healthy and confident moving forward. It’s more of a GPP play, but this is also a pace boost vs Xavier.
AJ StorrSTJNSHU550011.53
With Posh Alexander out the last two games, Storr has stepped into a much bigger offensive role for St. John’s. He’s gone off for 29 and 35 DK in the past two games with a considerable uptick in shot volume. This was actually a trend before Alexander was out, as Storr has scored in double figures in four of the last five games while starting. Check on Alexander’s status tonight, but Storr is a great bargain if his teammate is out again.
Jusaun HoltUGAAUB340011.16
Holt started the last game and dropped 28 DK in 31 minutes with a stuffed stat sheet. It’s tough to tell whether this was a one-game outlier or if Holt will stick in the starting rotation. He was logging 15-20 minutes without much DFS production during conference play before Saturday’s outburst. It’s worth noting, though, that Holt has 22, 27, and 28 DK in his three starts this season. So, if he’s starting tonight, the value is clear.

Also Consider:

  • Kario Oquendo – Georgia ($5600) – GPP
  • Femi Odukale – Seton Hall ($5400) – Cash
  • Nike Sibande – Pittsburgh ($4600) – GPP
  • Riley Kugel – Florida ($4300) – Cash

CBB DFS Top Forwards

Zach EdeyPURPSU1080045.4
With Purdue on the slate, it’s a de facto “Zach Edey slate” where it’s always risky to fade the big man. He dominated Penn State earlier this season with 30 points, 13 rebounds, and 56 DK. The Nittany Lions are very undersized in the frontcourt and Edey should get the ball on almost every possession with a major mismatch down low. That was evident in the first meeting when he took 21 shot attempts and was almost unstoppable in the paint. If you can make it work, get Edey into your lineup.
Johni BroomeAUBUGA860032.59
Broome should have an advantage inside against Georgia’s weaker frontcourt tonight. He had 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 41 DK vs UGA a month ago and could realistically replicate those numbers at home in this rematch. Broome has been pumping out 35-40 DK performances on a regular basis and can be trusted in cash lineups.
Kobe BrownMIZZLSU790030.72
Brown has been one of those high-upside risky plays all season, but he’s on a roll right now. The Missouri big is averaging 19 PPG and 38 DK over the past four contests with 18.7 PPG and 34 DK over the past 10 games. At home against a weak LSU defense, Brown should keep it up tonight to be one of the slate’s top performers.
Clifford OmoruyiRUMINN790032.34
Minnesota’s frontcourt and interior defense are among the worst in the Big Ten, if not the worst, and opposing centers have dominated this matchup throughout conference play. Omoruyi should continue the trend with a double-double and 30-35 DK incoming. The Rutgers center is averaging 32 DK and a double-double over the past 10 games and should not go overlooked as a solid cash play.
Cam WhitmoreVUMARQ710024.36
Whitmore has been a volatile DFS option for us this season. Still, this is a future NBA lottery pick and his best performances would have him smashing this price tag. He’s coming off a stud-level performance on Sunday with 21 points and 38 DK despite Nova losing. Tonight, Whitmore gets a pace boost vs Marquette, whom he had 31 DK against earlier this season. There’s plenty of GPP upside here.

Also Consider:

  • Armando Bacot – North Carolina ($10700) – GPP
  • Joel Soriano – St. John's ($9500) – Cash
  • KJ Williams – LSU ($8300) – GPP
  • DJ Burns – NC State ($6700) – GPP

CBB DFS Value Forwards

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPG
Aundre HyattRUMINN520018.49
Hyatt has scored in double figures in back-to-back games with 22 and 25 DK in these past two contests. He’s taken advantage of a couple of weaker defenses in those games (Iowa and Penn State), so there’s upside for him to do it again tonight vs a bad Minnesota team. Though Hyatt comes off the bench for Rutgers, he still has that 25 DK upside at his best.
David JoplinMARQVU500017.74
Joplin has been an up-and-down DFS option all season, but he could be starting tonight if Kam Jones is out for Marquette. He went off for 28 points and 41 DK last game with extended minutes and a huge uptick in shot volume after Jones left early. Even if Joplin doesn’t start, he’ll still have a big role off the bench if Jones is sidelined – which seems likely. There's potential 5x value here at this cheap price tag.
Jerome HunterXAVPROV490012.78
Hunter likely steps into a starting role or at least a lot more playing time in the Xavier frontcourt with Zach Freemantle out. Hunter has been the top backup big to Freemantle and Jack Nunge, but he now becomes much more important since Xavier usually runs a seven-man rotation. We may see Hunter as a chalky play in cash tonight and the sub-5k price tag is very appealing for the potential 5x value or more.
Baba MillerFSUNCST360012.25
Miller is slowly becoming a bigger part of the Florida State rotation now with five games back from missing the first half of the season. In a season-high 21 minutes last game, Miller had 11 points, four rebounds, and 17 DK while benefiting from Naheem McLeod being out. McLeod is doubtful tonight, so Miller should see 20-25 minutes again in a pace-boost vs NC State. The big man is really cheap for the potential 6x return or better and it's only a matter of time until he's priced in the 5k range or higher.

Also Consider:

  • Federiko Federiko – Pittsburgh ($5900) – GPP
  • Cameron Corhen – Florida State ($4500) – GPP
  • Ernest Ross – NC State ($4200) – Cash
