CBB DFS Top Guards
Tyree Appleby- Wake Forest vs. Virginia Tech ($7.4K)
Appleby has been one of the five most impactful transfers this season which has opened the eyes of NBA scouts. Like Alondes Williams last season, Appleby is now playing the role of the player who flourished after transferring to Wake. His numbers have skyrocketed from his time at Cleveland State and Florida, and it’s not just about volume. He’s also being more efficient than ever before – averaging 18 points per game (3rd in the ACC) on 50% shooting from the floor, 42.6% from three, and 88.5% from the free-throw line, while also dishing out 5.3 assists (3rd in ACC) and pulling down three rebounds per game. Too cheap for the team usage leader (26.6%) because he has been dealing with some injuries but seems to be back after playing 38 minutes against Duke.
Kevin McCullar Jr.- Kansas vs. Oklahoma State ($7.6K)
McCullar Jr is another elite transfer and has given Kansas everything he has on both ends of the court. The Texas Tech transfer has scored at least 39 DKFP in every game during the month of December and is in the middle of the most productive time of his college career. Without an established big man McCullar has stepped up his play on the boards and now has double-digit rebounds in three of his last four games which lets the Jayhawks continue to play small and fast. McCullar comes in today's matchup with Oklahoma State carrying a 21.3% D-Rebound rate, 3.0 blocks and 5.1% steal which is good for 19th in the country. Take the last four games of 42, 41, 39 and 41 DK fantasy points and Oklahoma State will have its hands full.
Other Top Guards
Top point per $ Plays
- Keyonte George- Baylor ($6.9K) Too cheap and gets more of an upgrade if Cryer is out again (concussion) A top cash play and a near 30/30 club member (29% usage/30% shot)
- Adam Flagler- Baylor ($7.6K) Not afraid to shoot (25.3% shot) and 32.9% assist
- Matthew Cleveland - Florida State ($8.0K) 3 straight double-doubles- enfuego right now
- Kihei Clark- Virginia ($6.8K) Here is one of the safest cash plays on the board- 35.5% Assist (20th)
- Andre Jackson/Jordan Hawkins- Connecticut- Both are studs and fully in play today
- Caleb Mills- Florida Stage ($6.8K) 25+ DKFP L4
- Tyler Kolek- Marquette ($7.5K) Always a safe cash play with a 25 DKFP floor
- Mike Miles Jr.- TCU ($7.2K) 30+ DKFP 3 of last 4 and 16.8 PPG L5
- Cameron Hildreth- Wake Forest ($6.5K)
CBB DFS Value Guards
Milos Uzan- Oklahoma vs. Texas ($4.4K)
If anyone watched Uzan's second career start back in early December against then-#9 Arkansas you know that the Sooners have a special player. The freshman guard held his own against the Razorbacks freshman trio of Anthony Black, Jordan Walsh and Nick Smith Jr., who each entered the season with five-star tags and expectations to get selected in the first round of the upcoming NBA Draft. Uzan ended the game with a stat line of 15 points and five assists and his confidence has just exploded as he has emerged as one of their top contributors with three 20+ DKFP games out of his last four and five plus assists in every game he has now started. The guard value is loaded with Dale Bonner (if Cryer out); Montez Mathis and Jalen Warley but at the moment I will hang my hat on the Sooner freshman PG.
Top point per $ value plays
- Dale Bonner- Baylor ($4.7K) Cryer is in the concussion protocol and good chance he misses another game- Bonner should then start and becomes a top-2 value (with Uzan)- 23+ DKFP in 3 of last 4
- Jalen Warley- Florida State ($4.2K) Remember last February when Warley smashed Duke for 35 DKFP (15 pts/7 rebs)- plus he is due for a big game
- Montez Mathis- St. Johns ($3.5K) Guy plays 30+ mins and is still $3.5K? 15 and 23 DKFP L2
- Isaac McKneeley- Virginia ($3.3K) if Beekman is OUT he becomes a possible cash core value due to price and minutes
- Jaylen Blakes- Duke ($3.0K) Coming off a huge game against Wake but GPP-only due to safer values
CBB DFS Top Forwards
Oscar Tshiebwe- Kentucky vs. Louisville ($10.2K)
Tshiebwe is just a monster. He is averaging 15.8 points and 13.6 rebounds per game over his last five (40.6 DKFP) and played all 40 minutes in their SEC-opener loss to Missouri where he put another 50 DKFP. I don't have to convince you how good of a play he is- he is the best DFS player on every slate and will catch ownership today due to the immense value that DK is offering us. If this game against Louisville stays close he could easily put up another 50-burger but if UK runs away with it early this may be a spot to fade the big guy in some GPPs if multi-entering (I said GPPs only!) and gain some major leverage. Very risky but that's how some tourneys are won.
Eric Dixon- Villanova vs. Marquette ($7.2K)
Dixon is just too cheap today at $7.2K. His ability to be a threat facing the basket is so critical to Nova especially in their matchup today with Marquette. The 6-8 junior is currently shooting 37% from three-point range and has already attempted more shots from long distance (54) than he did during all of last season (35). If he can go over the top of Marquette's defense like he did against St. John's ad UCONN it will open things up for guys like Caleb Daniels, Brandon Slater, and Cam Whitmore to get easier opportunities to score. The Huskies have won all 15 of their games this season by double figures and that comes from guys like Dixon who carry a 27% usage and 29.9% shot to go along with a 30% combined rebound rate. Eric Dixon is one of the top point-per-dollar plays of the slate.
Other Top Forwards
Top point per $ Plays
- David Jones St. John's ($8.0K) 27% usage/31.9% shot rate
- Jayden Gardner- Virginia ($6.7K) 24% usage/26% shot with a 30% combined rebound rate- flying under radar today
- Justyn Mutts- Virginia Tech ($8.1K) will fly right under the radar as a triple-double threat
- Oso Ighodaro- Marquette ($7.9K) 26% rebound with a 19.2% assist and 6.7% block (88th) rate- Nova is weak inside
- Oumar Ballo- Arizona ($8.9K) 35% rebound rate and 7.5 fouls drawn (10th)
- Desmond Cambridge- Arizona State ($7.3K) 29% shot rate
- Azuolas Tubelis ($9.3K) 27% usage/31% shot with a 35% combined rebound! 40 DKFP+ in 4 of last 5
- Jalen Wison- Kansas ($9.1K) 30/30 club- 30.3% usage/33.8% shot rate- one of the top overall plays of slate and a Oscar T GPP pivot - unless you want to try to fit both in your cash?
CBB DFS Value Forwards
Tre King- Iowa State vs. Baylor ($3.2K)
King scored 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting against Western Michigan to go along with two rebounds in his first game for the Cyclones after the NCAA ruled him eligible. King transferred from Eastern Kentucky last season but was forced to sit out due to transfer rules. He is a real versatile player with the ability to fill it up offensively and in his last season at Eastern Kentucky in 2020-21, King averaged 14.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game while earning first-team All-Ohio Valley honors. He finished that season ranked in the league’s top-10 in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks and is a guy that the Cyclones can throw the ball to at the post and is also an excellent cutter. With Kunc out, there should be a few more shots to go around for the Iowa state bigs and his price will not be this low much longer.
Top point per $ value plays
- Lance Ware- Kentucky ($3.3K) If he is starting Ware is fully in play
- Mathew Marsh- Wake Forest ($4.7K) Double-digit DKFP every game since 11/15
- Robert Jones - Iowa State ($4.9K) 20+ DKFP in 3 of last 4
- Derrick Lively- Duke ($4.9K)
- Jacob Groves- Oklahoma ($5.3K)
- Rodney Howard- Georgia tech ($4.8K)
