College Basketball CBB DFS Picks
Top CBB DFS Guards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Jordan Dingle | STJN | SBU | 9300 | 33.85 |
| Jordan Dingle was a stud at Penn last year, averaging 23.4 PPG as a walking bucket. Now he transfers over to St. John’s and should be one of the Johnnies’ top offensive options right away. Dingle’s prolific scoring track record is proven and Rick Pitino loves running his offenses through elite guard play. That plays right into Dingle’s strengths as a high-usage scorer and the St. John’s offense should feature him and Daniss Jenkins a lot. The DFS production should be there, but limit Dingle to GPP lineups because we still don’t know how the scoring and usage will shake out with a near-complete roster turnover for St. John’s. | ||||
| Jahmir Young | UMD | MSM | 8500 | 28.94 |
| After being one of the Big Ten’s best guards last year, Jahmir Young is back to headline Maryland’s offense. The dynamic scorer put up 15.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game last year for a solid 28 DK average. His DFS cash floor is usually safe with a high-usage role running the point. We’ll see if stud freshman DeShawn Harris-Smith takes away production in the Terps’ backcourt. For now, though, Young looks like a strong cash guard despite the expensive price tag. | ||||
| Trey Alexander | CRE | FAMU | 8100 | 26.02 |
| Trey Alexander is expected to take a leap this season as one of Creighton’s best players. Ryan Nembhard is gone from the backcourt, so Alexander will be a top playmaker while running the point more. He led Creighton in scoring in the most recent exhibition game with 22 points on a team-high 11 shot attempts in just 19 minutes. He’ll be regularly scoring 15-20 points with 30 DK or so in most games this season. Even in a blowout win tonight, Alexander should be a great cash guard. | ||||
| Tyrin Lawrence | VAND | PRES | 7800 | 22.97 |
| At the tail end of last season, Tyrin Lawrence came on strong for Vanderbilt and showed flashes of the alpha playmaker that he’s expected to be this year. Lawrence and Ezra Manjon will be leading the Vandy offense now that Jordan Wright and Liam Robbins are gone. At his best in the final month of the regular season, Lawrence was putting up 30+ DK points more often than not while scoring 15-25 real points each game. Those are the expectations we should have for him starting tonight and the price tag is warranted with his higher-usage role. Manjon is worth a look at 7k too. | ||||
| Jayden Epps | GU | LEMOY | 6500 | 15.57 |
| Georgetown is another team that went through a ton of roster turnover from last season with Ed Cooley now in town. The Hoyas offense looks like it’ll flow through Jay Heath and Jayden Epps, and both are firmly in play tonight for all formats. Epps flamed out at Illinois but can thrive in Cooley’s system that leans on its guard play. He’s expected to be one of Georgetown’s top scorers this year and reportedly had 46 points in a secret scrimmage vs Wake Forest. That definitely gets our attention. The usage and shot volume should be there for both Epps and Heath to be top DFS performers tonight in a cake matchup vs Le Moyne. | ||||
| Jayden Nunn | BAY | AUB | 6400 | 18.66 |
| Baylor’s backcourt changed over completely this offseason with RayJ Dennis, Jayden Nunn, and Ja’Kobe Walter replacing Flager/George/Cryer. The Bears’ new trio should all be viable DFS plays for us this season, but Nunn is the cheapest tonight by a decent margin and could be the better per-dollar play on this slate. In a recent scrimmage vs Gonzaga, Nunn actually led the team in scoring with his 16 points slightly edging out Walter’s 15 (though Dennis didn’t play). The VCU transfer might go overlooked tonight, especially compared to Dennis/Walter, but the $6400 price tag can prove to be a bargain. | ||||
Value CBB DFS Guards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Nimari Burnett | MICH | NC-AS | 5300 | 10.21 |
| Nimari Burnett has now landed at Michigan after spending the last two seasons with Texas Tech and then Alabama. With the Wolverines, though, Burnett will be needed to be a key offensive playmaker while running the point at times this season. This team is replacing the usage and scoring of Hunter Dickinson, Jett Howard, and Kobe Bufkin. In a recent exhibition, Burnett had nine points and six assists while being one of Michigan’s top players. His price is very affordable in cash and it might be the cheapest we see him all year. | ||||
| Nahiem Alleyne | STJN | SBU | 3800 | 9.01 |
| After winning a title with UConn last year, Nahiem Alleyne has joined up with Rick Pitino at St. John’s. He was a role player last season and was barely DFS-relevant. Still, Alleyne is a veteran guard and should earn meaningful minutes as a potential starter for the Johnnies now. He actually led the team in scoring in both exhibitions, though Jordan Dingle sat out both. Dingle’s return could push Alleyne to the bench, but his three-point shooting and defense should get him on the court early in the season. The price is really cheap for possibly 5x or 6x return at his best in GPPs. | ||||
| Josh Dix | IOWA | UND | 3300 | 5.18 |
| Iowa is replacing a ton of minutes and offensive usage from last year with Kris Murray, Filip Rebraca, Connor McCaffery, and Ahron Ulis all gone. All of that production is up for grabs on an Iowa team that loves to play fast and is a dream DFS situation. One value from the Hawkeyes who could quickly emerge as one of their top offensive players is Josh Dix. He barely played last year as a freshman but is a strong candidate to be Iowa’s top point guard this season. Dix didn’t start the exhibition game, but he outperformed Dasonte Brown (who did start). This might be the cheapest we see him all season if he has a good game tonight. | ||||
| Elijah Fisher | DPU | PFW | 3200 | 7.18 |
| Elijah Fisher transfers in from Texas Tech and he might be DePaul’s top scorer early in the season. In a recent exhibition game, Fisher led the team in scoring with 22 points off the bench. Though he didn’t start, he outperformed Caleb Murphy and others while still logging 33 minutes in a reserve role. We’ll see if the starts tonight, but either way it looks like Fisher is going to be one of DePaul’s top offensive options. The Blue Demons have to replace Umoja Gibson and Javan Johnson as the lead scorers from last year, so the usage and shots are up for grabs for Fisher. | ||||
| Aaron Clarke | SBU | STJN | 3000 | 21.08 |
| Simply put, Aaron Clarke shouldn’t be min price and is a clear value in all formats. Clarke was limited to just three games last year after suffering a back injury, but he’s back and will be one of Stony Brook’s best players this season. This is a sixth-year senior who was a stud scorer at Sacred Heart before transferring to Stony before last year. He can return 7x value or better in a major pace-boost spot vs St. John's. In addition to Clarke, Dean Noll is also min price and a great bargain as he returns from injury. | ||||
| Jason Edwards | UNT | UNI | 3000 | 0 |
| Even in a low-scoring game, Jason Edwards is too cheap to ignore at the min price. The JUCO transfer is expected to be a key part of North Texas’ offense with Tylor Perry and Kai Huntsberry gone. Edwards led the team in scoring in their lone exhibition game and he might be the focal point offensively tonight if Rondel Walker sits out due to his ongoing transfer waiver. Edwards is a great three-point shooter and drained 4-for-9 from deep in that exhibition. He’s mispriced at the dirt minimum. | ||||
| Rasheed Bello | PFW | DPU | 3000 | 0 |
| How about another min-priced guard? Rasheed Bello is another guy who just shouldn’t be at the minimum but DK missed it because he’s a D2 transfer. Bello is expected to be Purdue Fort Wayne’s best player this season and his higher usage/shot volume will help him smash value. Last year at the D2 level, he averaged 17.9 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 43% from three. He’ll likely be Fort Wayne’s alpha playmaker with Jarred Godfrey gone from last year’s team. DePaul’s defense isn’t too great and Bello should be a great cash or GPP play. | ||||
Top CBB DFS Forwards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Ryan Kalkbrenner | CRE | FAMU | 9800 | 30.28 |
| Ryan Kalkbrenner is back for Creighton and he should post similar or better numbers as last year when he averaged 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, and 30 DK points per game. Kalkbrenner should have his way in the paint tonight against a mostly undersized Florida A&M team. The price tag is very high for the Bluejays’ big man, but there is enough value to get him into lineups. He’s usually a safe cash forward and can still put up numbers in a blowout scenario. | ||||
| Joel Soriano | STJN | SBU | 9600 | 35.75 |
| While the rest of the St. John’s roster changed over this offseason, Joel Soriano stuck around to be the team’s dominant center once again. Soriano averaged a double-double and 35 DK last year as a regular DFS stud for us and should continue in that role this season. The price tag is high, but we know the big man has the potential for 40-50 DK points when he’s having his way down low. This matchup might actually be tougher than you’d think as Stony Brook boasts a 7-foot-1 center. Soriano is always in play for cash or GPP, but we may want to wait a game or two until we see how the St. John’s scoring and offense shake out with so many new faces. | ||||
| Drew Pember | NC-AS | MICH | 8900 | 41.89 |
| If you weren’t aware, Drew Pember is one of the top mid-major players in the country. He could’ve gone pro or transferred to a big-time school, but Pember chose to return to UNC Asheville. He was a stud last season while averaging 20.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 41 DK points per game. Pember is clearly UNC Asheville’s top offensive option and will be locked into shots/usage every game. A road matchup vs Michigan isn’t too bad but it could make Pember a contrarian play among top forwards compared to Kalkbrenner/Soriano. | ||||
| Ben Krikke | IOWA | UND | 7700 | 32.02 |
| Iowa lost a few notable names from last year, including Kris Murray as the team’s alpha scorer. Ben Krikke transfers in from Valparaiso where he averaged 19.4 points and 32 DK per game last season. He can post similar numbers on an Iowa team that plays fast and scores a ton of points each game. Some may be hesitant to roster Krikke in his first game with Iowa, but he should be one of the Hawkeyes’ top scorers on a nightly basis. He’s a GPP upside play on this slate with many looking elsewhere. | ||||
| Julian Reese | UMD | MSM | 7600 | 25.32 |
| Julian Reese is back after an impressive sophomore campaign for Maryland. The big man averaged 11.4 PPG and 7.2 RPG last year but his real-life production and DFS ceiling were much higher in easier matchups. That’s what Reese has here at home against Mount St. Mary’s. The Terps’ center could easily get a double-double with 30+ DK points in this spot while going overlooked on the slate with other popular top-tier forwards. He’s a prime GPP upside play tonight, but a bit risky in cash. | ||||
| Kel'el Ware | IU | FGCU | 6700 | 15.61 |
| After transferring over from Oregon, Kel’el Ware is expected to be a top player for Indiana this season. The Hoosiers have to replace Trayce Jackson-Davis and Race Thompson in the frontcourt and Ware can excel in his new starting role. He’s a former top-10 high school recruit who was demoted to backup duties at Oregon. Even so, the 7-footer has the talent and athleticism to dominate the interior and he’ll take on the bulk of IU’s center minutes now. Ware led the team in scoring in a recent exhibition, which is a great sign of his offensive usage and role for this season opener. | ||||
Value CBB DFS Forwards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Malik Reneau | IU | FGCU | 5000 | 12.75 |
| Malik Reneau is a popular breakout candidate this year as he’ll likely be one of Indiana’s top playmakers. The Hoosiers have to replace Trayce Jackson-Davis, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and Race Thompson from last year, leaving a ton of offensive usage and scoring up for grabs. Reneau transformed his body in the offseason and looks poised to take on a bigger role at the power forward spot with TJD and Thompson gone. He averaged 13 points and 5.5 rebounds in IU’s two exhibition games. We’ll take that production, with the upside for more, at this cheap price. | ||||
| Jaden Henley | DPU | PFW | 4300 | 11.41 |
| Jaden Henley was a solid role player for Minnesota last season and he may be asked to do a lot more this year with DePaul. In a recent exhibition game, Henley filled up the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals while playing 33 minutes. That all-around production is what we love for DFS if it translates to tonight’s game and beyond. Henley should at least be locked into minutes on the wing with a shortened DePaul rotation while Mac Etienne and Jalen Terry are out. | ||||
| Colin Smith | VAND | PRES | 4200 | 9.44 |
| As a bench player for much of last season, Collin Smith wasn’t really relevant for DFS purposes. This year, though, Smith will likely be starting at the power forward spot while being a key frontcourt player for Vandy. Smith saw a handful of starts at the end of last season and was productive for 20 DK points or so when he got 25-30 minutes. This price tag is based on his minimal role last year, but Smith should be priced higher now that he’s starting. If you need a value forward in this price range, he’s a bargain. | ||||
| Dontrez Styles | GU | LEMOY | 3700 | 2.97 |
| Dontrez Styles barely played last year for North Carolina before transferring over to Georgetown. On his new team, though, Styles should be starting on the wing and playing a key role for the Hoyas on both ends. He’s even more important now with Ishmael Massoud out. Styles has tons of athleticism and raw talent but he could never make an impact at UNC. He’s a risky play until we see it come to fruition, but this price tag is way too cheap for a starter and it’s based on his small bench role from last year. | ||||
| Tarris Reed Jr. | MICH | NC-AS | 3600 | 10.72 |
| Tarris Reed is moving into Michigan’s starting center spot now with Hunter Dickinson gone. Reed only played a handful of minutes each game last year as a freshman while backing up Dickinson, but he’ll be asked to do a lot more this year. In the exhibition game, he had 13 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, and one block in just 11 minutes of action. That’s efficiency right there. He won’t be Dickinson, but Reed can smash value at his sub-4k price tag that’s based on last year’s backup role. | ||||
| Yves Missi | BAY | AUB | 3100 | 0 |
| Yves Missi is a backup big for Baylor and may only get 15 minutes or so, but he should do enough to return or possibly smash value. The freshman is an athletic dunker and rim protector who’s reportedly been making highlight-reel plays in practices. His size (nearly 7 feet) and skills around the rim should get him on the court enough to match up with Auburn’s Johni Broome tonight - especially if JTT or Bridges get into foul trouble. This may be the cheapest we see Missi the rest of the season if he goes for 20+ DK points. | ||||
