CBB DFS TOP GUARD
Markquis Nowell - Kansas State @ West Virginia ($9.5K DK/$8.8K FD)
Markquis Nowell saw an opportunity with the coaching change at Kansas State and made the most of it. The reinvention of Nowell as Jerome Tang's court general has turned the senior into one of the best players in the nation as he carries a 40.9% assist rate (third in the country) and is a walking double-double threat on a nightly basis. In his first matchup against West Virginia Nowell put up 56 DKFP and now he gets a return pace-up game on the road where he averages 38.15 DKFP. This is one of the safest plays on the board today because even if Nowell’s shots aren’t falling he will still get there with his peripherals.
Other Top Guards
- Tyler Kolek, Marquette ($9.1K DK) - I’m not sure most saw this coming, but Kolek is a stud. He just balls out every game and is one of the best passers in the nation with an 8.6% assist rate over his last five games. This is an awesome game environment, and he will not leave the floor, but Kolek does have to deal with Posh Alexander making him GPP-only.
- Makai Ashton-Langford, Boston College ($7.3K DK) - Ashton-Langford is a “gut call” but with 32+ DKFP in his last two games I can see him attacking the Georgia Tech zone today and end up hitting 5X value.
- Terry Roberts, Georgia ($7.0K DK) - Roberts still has not looked 100% since his concussion but I can’t give up on him now. He put up 20 DKFP against Florida on only two shots so I still believe he has another monster game in him and I want to be there when it happens. He has already torched South Carolina for 33.25 DKFP earlier this season and gets another elite matchup again today.
- Nick Smith Jr., Arkansas ($6.5K DK/$5.4K FD) - I’m a huge fan of Smith Jr. and he will bounce back today after a tough game against the elite Tennessee defense. With a 26.4% usage and 32.6% shot rate he will smash value today. You heard it here first.
- Tamin Lipsey, Iowa State ($6.6K DK/$5.6K FD) - With Caleb Grill being dismissed from the team, Lipsey will have to step up and be asked to score more. He plays nearly every minute and already has strong peripherals (7.5 PPG, 3.7 RPG and 4.6 APG) which will only grow with the new extended role.
- Dylan Addae-Wusu, St. John’s ($6.4K DK) - This is one of my sneaky plays of the day and I will have Addae-Wusu in my non-Soriano lineups. He scored 36.25 DKFP in the first Marquette meeting and has shown that he has a 50-burger ceiling.
CBB DFS TOP GUARD VALUE
Jacobi Wright - South Carolina vs. Georgia ($3.7K DK)
Gamecocks guard Jacobi Wright is playing his best basketball of the season. He is confident and that works wonders with a young player that is attacking the rim and making his shots. Wright has now started seven straight games and is easily playing 30+ minutes as an offensive weapon. After a couple of tough defensive matchups against Tennessee and Mississippi State Wright now gets a breather in a plus-matchup against Georgia and their 348th-ranked, 112.4 defensive efficiency rate.
Stevie Mitchell - Marquette vs. St. John’s ($3.8K DK)
There are so many ways to go with value today, but Mitchell may end up as my punt go-to when it is all said and done. In the first game against St. John’s Mitchell had a quality 11-point outing to go with three rebounds and three steals. He is averaging 7.0 points per game on the season but has gone for double-figures five times. Mitchell should get 20 minutes today in a massive pace-up and will give you a piece of a Marquette team that has the highest implied score on the slate.
Other Top Guard Value
- Davonte Davis, Arkansas ($5.6K DK/$5.7K FD) - Devo Davis is back to form after a couple of terrible games in mid-February. Over his last two games, he has played 39 minutes in each and scored 29 DKFP against an elite Alabama defense and then 32 DKFP on the road against another top defense in Tennessee. Davis is fully in play today facing a Kentucky team that he scored 15 points (32 DKFP) against just three weeks ago.
- Bruce Thornton, Ohio State ($5.2K DK) - Thornton is at his cheapest price in over a month and has quietly scored 27 DKFP in two of his last three games. He will play 30+ minutes and stuff the stat sheet a bit.
- Jahvon Quinerly, Alabama ($4.7K DK/$5.8K FD) - Quinerly will be popular today after his 24-point (43 DKFP) explosion against Florida. He is still a wild card due to poor home/road splits but on the other hand, he has now played 28 and 36 minutes. This is one of the key decisions of today’s slate.
- Kario Oqunedo, Georgia ($4.4K DK) - Oquendo is now at a season-low $4.4K but anyone that has played CBB DFS over the last few years knows very well that he can take over a game. He is coming off a 20 DKFP game where he scored 20 real points with absolutely no peripherals. Throw in a few assists and steals and today we are talking about a main team play. Oquendo will be in one of my main GPP lineups.
- Jahmai Mashack, Tennessee ($4.2K DK/$5.5K FD) - Mashack has been playing great and is a main team-type value with his $400 price drop to only $4.2K on DraftKings. He is a stat sheet stuffer with 30+ DKFP in two of his last four games.
- Dale Bonner, Baylor ($3.5K DK/$5.3K FD) - Bonner is a news reliant play today. If Keyonte George and Langston Love miss the game again then Bonner is a near-guarantee for 35+ minutes and at $3.5K he will smash value like he did on Monday against Oklahoma State (25 DKFP).
- Jaden Bradley, Alabama ($3.6K DK/$4.4K FD) - Bradley is GPP-only due to a negative pace but he has been getting the minutes with a 15 DKFP floor.
CBB DFS TOP FORWARDS
Oscar Tshiebwe - Kentucky @ Arkansas ($10.1K DK/$9.1K FD)
Since losing to this Arkansas team back on February 7th and scoring only 26 DKFP, Oscar Tshiebwe has returned to his usual dominant form. Over his last six games, Big O has posted averages of 20.3 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks in 36.0 minutes per game. He is coming off a National Player of the Week honor after dropping 25 points on 12-of-13 shooting against Florida then went for 22 points and 17 rebounds against Auburn and that is the version of Tshiebwe that Kentucky will need today in Fayetteville. With Cason Wallace questionable today, Kentucky will have to lean more on the reigning National Player of the Year in the hopes that he continues to play his aggressive brand of hoops instead of what they saw in the first Arkansas matchup. Tshiebwe is my top overall play of the slate regardless of price.
Joel Soriano - St. John’s @ Marquette ($8.7K DK)
Joel Soriano is going to be a nightmare again for Marquette. If Marquette has a weakness, it is on the interior and Soriano exploited that in the first matchup by scoring 16 points on 7-for-8 shooting in the first half alone and ended with a 22-point, 13-rebound double-double on his way to 44 DKFP. Soriano also grabbed 13 rebounds in that game, including eight of the team’s 13 on the offensive glass. Defensive rebounding has been Marquette’s biggest issue over the entire season as they are ranked 299th in the nation and tenth in the Big East. Soriano is the poor man’s Oscar Tshiebwe today and will be in many of my lineups.
Other Top Forwards
- Brandon Miller, Alabama ($9.4K DK/$8.7K FD) - Miller is now a star and can be considered matchup proof. He is averaging 40 DKFP over his last five games with a 28% usage rate. I like Tshiebwe and Soriano a little better but will not argue with anyone that wants Miller as a main lineup player.
- Ja’von Franklin, Georgia Tech ($8.5K DK) - Franklin has been a straight beast and his recent salary rewards him for it. He is coming off a massive 62-point DKFP game at Syracuse and 47 DKFP before that at home against Louisville. If Franklin can keep his hands to himself and avoid fouls, he is in another smash spot today against Boston College.
- Quinten Post, Boston College ($8.2K DK) - Post gets the Georgia Tech zone today and makes for a solid GPP play. Over his last five games, he is averaging 12.6 points and 5.2 rebounds with a 28% usage rate and could very well put up 40+ DKFP. Post has been sick for the last week so we need to make sure that he is in the starting lineup.
- Ed Croswell, Providence ($8.3K DK) - Croswell had a monster game on Sunday at Georgetown (25 points and 13 rebounds for 57 DKFP) and then a second straight double-double on Wednesday against Xavier (17 points and ten rebounds). With a 17-point and 9.4 rebound per game average over his last five contests he is fully in play again against Seton Hall which has only one main weakness: defensive rebounding (30.2%)!
- Gregory Jackson, South Carolina ($7.7K DK) - GG Jackson is a freshman and a straight stud. I love this price for a player that carries a 29.3% usage rate and 31.8% shot rate into a soft matchup against Georgia.
- Oso Ighodaro, Marquette ($7.9K) - Not in love with Ighodaro’s price but he is a safe play for cash lineups in a pace-up game with St. John’s. He has settled in with a 30 DKFP floor and will smash if Soriano gets into foul trouble.
CBB DFS TOP FORWARD VALUE
Felix Okpara - Ohio State vs. Michigan State ($4.5K DK)
Ohio State had to battle through a few weeks worth of games with Zed Key and his ailing shoulder. Now that he is out for the rest of the season, freshman Felix Okpara has ascended into the starting lineup and shown major flashes of potential while also battling some foul trouble. He is maturing, though, by leaps and bounds and today gets one of the ultimate CBB DVP matchups against the soft Michigan State interior. The Wolverines allow 43.8 DKFP per game to opposing centers while also giving up 10.7 rebounds per game. If Okpara stays out of foul trouble today (4.5 FC/40) he will smash the $4.5K tag to oblivion.
Other Top Forward Value
- Malik Hall, Michigan State ($5.5K) - We need to keep an eye on Hall’s status today as it is Senior Day at Breslin Center. If he starts, he gets an immediate upgrade and will be in the main or alternate lineup conversation due to playing 30+ minutes against an Ohio State interior that can be weak on the offensive boards. Hall already has a 16 DKFP floor in his normal 20 minutes of play and has scored 48 real points over his last four games played.
- Tre King, Iowa State ($3.5K DK/$4.2K FD) - King is another positive recipient of the Caleb Grill dismissal. He should see more minutes as he did when Grill was hurt earlier in the season, and it will not take much to pay off a $3.5K price tag. This is a nice GPP pivot off his more popular value teammate Robert Jones.
- Robert Jones, Iowa State ($3.3K DK/$4.1K FD) - Jones is going to be chalk value today with this $3.3K price tag. In his 20 minutes of playing time Jones has strong rates that include 23.1% usage and 21.4% shot. His 11.9% offensive rebound rate when on the floor is ranked 100th in the nation but there is one issue here: Jones is on the road with a 6.3 FC/40. This is a play I may leave for the masses and look elsewhere for my value.
- Clifton Moore, Providence ($3.4K) - Moore is a total MME dart due to his minutes being all over the place but if he plays 12-15, he can easily hit 5-6X.
