College Basketball CBB DFS Picks 2/16

CBB DFS Top Guards

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Kendric DavisMEMUCF1070039.42
If you have the salary to fit him in, Davis is always a top play if Memphis is on the slate. The dynamic point guard has now scored 20+ points with 33+ DK in nine straight games and he’s averaging 23.8 PPG and 41 DK over the past 10 contests. Davis was excellent against UCF earlier this season with 42 points and 56 DK in the double-OT game. It’s tough to pay up for Davis if you roster Zach Edey, but both are elite DFS options right now.
Jahmir YoungUMDPUR910030.17770028.15
Young doesn’t get the national recognition of other top players, but he’s arguably the best scoring guard in the Big Ten this season and has been a DFS stud throughout conference play. In a high-usage role running the point for Maryland, he’s averaging a strong 19.5 PPG and 35 DK over the past 10 games. Young had 36 DK vs Purdue earlier this season is on the favorable side of home splits tonight (17.9 points and 32 DK per game at home).
Cam SheltonLYMGONZ780037.48
Shelton has been a top DFS play whenever Loyola Marymount’s been on the slate recently. Let’s go right back to the well with Shelton and his squad at home in an uptempo and high-scoring matchup vs Gonzaga. In his high-usage role, Shelton is averaging 24.3 PPG and 39 DK over the past 10 games and he’s gone for 40+ DK in three straight and four of the last five. He was excellent in the win over Gonzaga earlier this season with 27 points and 39 DK. At this price, Shelton should be popular in all formats tonight.
Jamal SheadUHSMU720025.34
Marcus Sasser is also a top play for Houston tonight, but Jamal Shead should not go overlooked for similar DFS production at $1400 cheaper. Shead has 30+ DK in three straight and four of the last five games. He offers a strong floor with assists and steals, like when he posted 33 DK last outing despite only making one bucket.
Ithiel HortonUCFMEM640021.65
UCF gets a significant pace boost here vs Memphis, so we can bump up expectations for all its top guys. Taylor Hendricks, Darius Johnson, and CJ Kelly are all options, but Horton is cheaper than all with plenty of upside. He’s put up 29 and 34 DK in the past two games and went off for 30 points and 38 DK vs Memphis earlier this season. Horton leads UCF in usage rate and shot volume during conference play.

Also Consider:

  • Drew Peterson – USC (Cash)
  • Marcus Sasser – Houston (Cash/GPP)
  • Julian Strawther – Gonzaga (GPP)
  • CJ Kelly – UCF (GPP)

Rasir BoltonGONZLYM580019.3
Bolton has been up-and-down for DFS and real life this season for Gonzaga. His highs, though, would be a great value at this price tag and there’s upside in a high-total matchup. Bolton has gone for 16 and 23 points scored in two recent games with 29 and 36 DK in those contests, respectively. There’s definite risk on the road here, but the Zags’ guard is worth a look in GPPs.
Elijah McCaddenMEMUCF520015.1
McCadden is really affordable and could be a popular value tonight based on his recent form. He’s put up 27, 21, 25, and 28 DK in the past four games while benefiting from Alex Lomax’s absence. Memphis is rolling with a tighter rotation with Lomax and Malcolm Dandridge both out. That’s locked in McCadden to more consistent minutes and overall DFS production. He’s also scored in double figures in three of the last four.
Luke O'BrienCOLASU450013.48480012.50
O’Brien is benefiting directly from J’Vonne Hadley’s absence right now. In the past three games with Hadley sidelined, O’Brien has stepped into a bigger role on the Colorado wing and has 21, 16, and 24 DK in these past three. It’s nothing huge, but it makes him a solid value at his sub-5k price tag. Hadley appears to be out for the season, so O'Brien's role should continue.
Emanuel SharpUHSMU370010.44
Sharp gets more playing time in Houston’s blowout wins, which could be the case tonight with the Cougars as big favorites over SMU. We actually saw Sharp put up 19 DK in 24 minutes off the bench earlier this season in a big win over SMU. Tonight, the freshman will be Houston’s main (and possibly only) guard off the bench with Terrance Arceneaux doubtful. Sharp has the upside for 20+ DK at his best when given the minutes.
Roddy Gayle Jr.OSUIOWA32008.5539007.90
Gayle got a spot start on Saturday and put up 14 DK across a season-high 27 minutes. It’s tough to tell whether the freshman will stick in the Ohio State starting lineup over Isaac Likekele moving forward. If he does, this is a decent bargain for 5x upside or more in an uptempo matchup tonight vs Iowa.

Also Consider:

  • Jalin Anderson – Loyola Marymount (GPP)
  • Ahron Ulis – Iowa (Cash)
  • Michael O'Connell – Stanford (GPP)
  • Jayden Hardaway – Memphis (GPP)

CBB DFS Top Forwards

Zach EdeyPURUMD1150045.83930042.72
Like Kendric Davis above, if you have the salary to make it work then Edey is always a top play. Yes, he’s very expensive, but this a favorable matchup against an undersized Maryland frontcourt. Edey went for 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 48 DK vs the Terps earlier this season and can easily replicate those numbers tonight. There’s slight risk on the road, but Edey’s track record and recent game logs speak for themselves.
Kris MurrayIOWAOSU970039.26870036.50
Murray is at his highest DK price in a month, but his 60-burger last game proved his DFS ceiling is right there at Zach Edey’s level. The Iowa wing has been a stud all year in his high-usage role and he’s averaging 20.7 PPG and 37 DK over the past 10 games. Murray was excellent vs Ohio State earlier this season with 22 points and 37 DK, and now he gets the rematch at home where he’s putting up 42 DK per game this year.
Jarace WalkerUHSMU840026.01
The blowout factor is always a risk for rostering Houston players, but Walker has been playing a big role in those large wins during conference play. The talented freshman big has 30+ DK in seven of the last nine games and is averaging 14.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 29 DK over the past 10 contests. He dominated SMU earlier this season with 23 points, 10 boards, and 42 DK. Interestingly, Walker is putting up 15.2 PPG and 31 DK on the road compared to 9.3 PPG and 22 DK at home – so he’s on the favorable side of those splits tonight.
Oumar BalloARIZUTAH830032.36780030.48
If Arizona is on the slate, then the Wildcats’ big man duo of Azuolas Tubelis and Oumar Ballo are firmly in play. Tubelis offers a ton of GPP-winning upside, but he’s also prone to some duds – which is tough to stomach at his expensive price. Ballo is much cheaper for likely similar DFS production and plenty of upside himself. He went for 22 points and 35 DK vs Utah earlier this season and can easily do it again in tonight’s home rematch.

Also Consider:

  • Jaime Jaquez – UCLA (GPP)
  • Drew Timme – Gonzaga (Cash)
  • Mouhamed Gueye – Washington State (GPP)
  • Taylor Hendricks – UCF (Cash)
  • Anton Watson – Gonzaga (GPP)

Brandon AngelSTANUCLA540016.65
Angel has been playing well lately with double-digit points scored in four straight games while averaging 23.5 DK over the past five. On the road at UCLA is definitely a tall task, but Angel is doing enough across the board to return value. He’s a solid salary-saver in this mid-5k range.
Cedric Henderson Jr.ARIZUTAH530015.43560013.98
Henderson continues to be a great value play since he remains very affordable compared to recent production. He has 20+ DK in four of the last five games as a starter for Arizona. He’s also scored in double figures in three of the past four contests. Expect Henderson to be popular in cash lineups because he’s so cheap.
Vincent IwuchukwuUSCCAL470012.36
Iwuchukwu just had his best game of his season on Saturday with 19 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, and 32 DK. We’ve been touting the talented freshman as an upside DFS value ever since he joined USC in mid-January, and it’s nice to finally see this outburst. Iwuchukwu has been starting lately with Joshua Morgan sidelined and it seems he’s getting more comfortable out there. We may not see him priced below 5k for much longer.
Ben CarlsonUTAHARIZ390011.98460011.17
Carlson has been a solid value for us lately and he remains very affordable. The big man has 20 and 24 DK in the past two games while playing a bigger role in Utah’s shortened rotation with Gabe Madsen out. That should continue tonight as the Utes will especially need his size against Arizona’s frontcourt of Tubelis and Ballo. Plus, this is a pace boost for Utah.

Also Consider:

  • Connor McCaffery – Iowa (Cash/GPP)
  • Caleb Furst – Purdue (GPP)
  • KC Ibekwe – Oregon State (GPP)
  • Rick Issanza – Loyola Marymount (Cash/GPP)
