College Basketball CBB DFS Picks 2/14
CBB DFS Top Guards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Terquavion Smith | NCST | SYR | 9100 | 33.84 |
| Both Terquavion Smith and Jarkel Joiner should be good plays tonight in a higher-scoring matchup vs Syracuse. We know Smith is going to take a high volume of shots and he brings plenty of three-point upside against the Cuze zone defense if he gets hot. There’s a 40-50 DK upside here at his best. Some may opt for Joiner for a cheaper salary and similar production, but Smith’s floor/ceiling combo is slightly higher. He scored 25 points on 7-for-15 three-point shooting last year vs Cuse. | ||||
| Umoja Gibson | DPU | STJN | 8300 | 31.15 |
| In a hugh-usage role with heavy shot volume, Gibson has a strong DFS floor/ceiling combo that gets even better in a pace-boost matchup like tonight. He’s averaging 17.1 PPG and 31 DK over the past 10 games and has at least 20 points scored with 35 DK or so in a multiple games lately. We should see a performance like that tonight, especially since Gibson performs better at home. | ||||
| Devin Carter | PROV | CRE | 8000 | 28.39 |
| Bryce Hopkins is also a top play for Providence, but Carter is notably cheaper for similar production. Maybe the hardcore CBB DFS player has noticed, but the casual fan might not realize that Carter is averaging a solid 31 DK over the past 10 games with at least 28 DK in nine straight. He’s been very consistent while reguarly scoring in double figures with stuffed stat sheets. Carter had 30 DK vs Creighton earlier this season and should do it again here. | ||||
| Wendell Green Jr. | AUB | MIZZ | 7800 | 27.75 |
| Green has been a solid cash stud all season in his high-usage point guard role for Auburn. He’s averaging 16.6 PPG and 32 DK over the past 10 games and has gone for 20+ points and 35 DK in back-to-back games coming into tonight. Now he gets a favorable pace-boost matchup at home in one of the highest totals of the slate. Green could be a popular cash guard in this spot. | ||||
Also Consider:
- Markquis Nowell – Kansas State ($9400) – GPP
- Terrence Shannon – Illinois ($8200) – GPP
- Jarkel Joiner – NC State ($8100) – Cash
- Kevin McCullar – Kansas ($7300) – GPP
- Casey Morsell – NC State ($6700) – GPP
CBB DFS Value Guards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Tyrese Proctor | DUKE | ND | 5600 | 18.3 |
| Despite scoring 14 points with 24 DK last game, Proctor is still weirdly cheap in the mid-5k range and actually gets a price decrease from Saturday. He’s been a really good value play over the past month or so with 24+ DK in five of the last eight games and averaging 21 DK over the past 10 contests. The cash floor with plenty of ancillary stats is there, but there’s more upside tonight if Filipowski sits. | ||||
| Andrew Funk | PSU | IL | 5400 | 20.28 |
| Funk is pretty affordable with how solid he’s been lately. The Penn State wing has 23+ DK in five of the last seven games and is averaging 13.6 PPG and 22 DK over the past 10 contests. He went off for 20 points and 35 DK vs Illinois earlier this season and always has the ability to match that production if he’s hot from three. This is also a pace boost for Penn St at home. | ||||
| Sean East II | MIZZ | AUB | 5200 | 17.61 |
| East has been locked into a bigger offensive role for Missouri lately with Tre Gomillion and Isiaih Mosley out. He’s scored 15 and 17 points in the past two games with 22 and 30 DK in those contests, respectively. Though he’s not starting, East is still a top ball-handler for Mizzou and he could be a great cheap way to get exposure to a high total tonight. Check on Mosley and Gomillion’s statuses before tip. | ||||
| AJ Storr | STJN | DPU | 5000 | 12.45 |
| Storr is very cheap for someone who’s put up 20+ DK in five of the last six games. He’s also averaging 13.8 PPG over this recent span and has double-digit points scored in seven of the past nine contests since joining the starting lineup. The freshman is one of St. John’s top scorers right now and there could be even more opportunities tonight if Andre Curbelo sits out again. | ||||
| Otega Oweh | OU | KSU | 4500 | 8.16 |
| Oweh has started last two games for Oklahoma and he’s scored in double figures with double-digit shot attempts in both. With the Sooners struggling lately, it appears Oweh is benefiting with a new starting role on the wing. He has a 28% and 30% usage rate in these past two starts and is clearly a focal point of the offense when he’s out there. At home in a pace boost matchup, Oweh can easily return value if he starts again at this cheap price. | ||||
| K.D. Johnson | AUB | MIZZ | 4100 | 14.68 |
| Johnson has admittedly been underwhelming from a DFS standpoint for most of this season, but the upside for 5x or better is definitely there at this price in a high-total matchup at home tonight. He just went for 12 points, seven rebounds, and 29 DK on Saturday vs Alabama and has shown 20+ DK upside at times this season. Johnson has double-digit points scored in four of the last five games and Auburn gets a pace boost vs Mizzou. | ||||
Also Consider:
- Jared Bynum – Providence ($5900) – GPP
- Allen Flanigan – Auburn ($5700) – GPP
- Caleb Asberry – Oklahoma State ($5300) – Cash
- Justin Hill – Georgia ($5400) – Cash
- DeAndre Gholston – Missouri ($4600) – GPP
CBB DFS Top Forwards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Jesse Edwards | SYR | NCST | 9500 | 36.66 |
| NC State’s interior defense is one to attack and Edwards could have a massive stat line tonight, especially at home and with a pace boost. The Syracuse center has shown the GPP upside for 40+ DK at multiple points this season when he’s dominating at both ends. NC State’s post presence has lacked ever since Dusan Mahorcic went out and Edwards can have the advantage here. | ||||
| Johni Broome | AUB | MIZZ | 9200 | 33.24 |
| Even though he’s priced up, Broome has to be considered for cash or GPP lineups tonight. The Auburn big man is coming off one of his worst games of the season at Alabama (understandable) but should bounce back tonight. Broome faces an undersized and poor rebounding team in Mizzou that’s given up some big games to opposing centers in SEC play (specifically Tolu Smith, Colin Castleton, and Oscar Tshiebwe). Plus, it’s a pace boost for Auburn at home. Broom should give you 35-40 DK tonight. | ||||
| Joel Soriano | STJN | DPU | 8700 | 35.36 |
| When St. John’s faced DePaul earlier this season, Soriano went off for 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 40 DK. He took full advantage of a weak DePaul frontcourt and the Johnnies’ big man should do the same tonight. This is actually Soriano’s cheapest price since late December despite putting up 35+ DK in back-to-back games coming in. Let’s pounce on the “discount” with another 35-40 DK effort likely coming from Soriano. | ||||
| Cam Whitmore | VU | BUTLE | 7400 | 23.82 |
| We’ve mentioned this before with Cam Whitmore, but the freshman’s home/road splits are something to pay attention to for DFS. He usually plays much better at home, averaging 15.8 PPG and 28 DK in Philly compared to 8.5 PPG and 17 DK on the road. That’s a notable difference and Whitmore’s game logs mostly reflect it. Plus, he actually had 30 DK on the road at Butler earlier this season. | ||||
| Dereck Lively II | DUKE | ND | 6600 | 16.96 |
| Lively had a terrible performance on Saturday at Virginia but was on a roll before that. The freshman had at least 27 DK in five of the previous six games coming into the weekend, including 30+ DK in three of the past four. Lively has looked more like the first-round prospect that he is after a slow start to this season. He’s worth a GPP gamble at home vs a bad Notre Dame frontcourt, and he’ll be needed more tonight if Kyle Filipowski is out with his ankle injury. | ||||
Also Consider:
- Bryce Hopkins – Providence ($8900) – Cash
- Kobe Brown – Missouri ($8600) – GPP
- Eric Dixon – Villanova ($7900) – Cash
- Javan Johnson – DePaul ($7100) – GPP
- Kalib Boone – Oklahoma State ($6700) – GPP
CBB DFS Value Forwards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG |
| Aundre Hyatt | RU | NEB | 5700 | 18.22 |
| With Mawot Mag sidelined, Hyatt has started the past two games for Rutgers. He’s put up 18 and 23 DK in these two starts while logging 26 and 30 minutes. The extended playing time has raised Hyatt’s DFS floor to a safer level, though he was putting up 20+ DK at multiple points with Mag healthy. This is a solid price tag for the 20-25 DK at home against a weak Nebraska squad. | ||||
| Ryan Young | DUKE | ND | 4900 | 19.11 |
| We might see Young starting for Duke tonight if Kyle Filipowski is out. That would make him a pretty attractive value at sub-5k for the 4x or 5x return against a weaker Notre Dame frontcourt. Young was regularly putting up 20-25 DK as a starter earlier this season and he brings plenty of experience to the table from his days at Northwestern. You can also look at Dariq Whitehead as a good value from Duke. | ||||
| Ty Rodgers | IL | PSU | 3500 | 9.27 |
| Rodgers is getting more playing time lately off the bench for Illinois. The freshman’s minutes have fluctuated this season, but he appears to be in a decent-sized role right now. Rodgers has put up 21, 17, and 14 DK in the past three games with stat production across the board. At this price, he doesn’t need to do much to return value. If RJ Melendez sits again tonight, then it gives a more guaranteed share of minutes and DFS production to Rodgers as the main backup wing – especially against a smaller PSU lineup. | ||||
| Tyrell Ward | LSU | UGA | 3400 | 5.83 |
| Ward has now started three straight games and is still too cheap compared to his new role. The freshman has put up 16 and 22 DK in the past two starts with 24 and 30 minutes played in those contests, respectively. It’s tough to trust his playing time or DFS production with how volatile the LSU rotation is, but it appears Ward has leg up on others with the team trying to break its losing streak. | ||||
Also Consider:
- Dariq Whitehead – Duke ($4400) – Cash/GPP
- Chris Bell – Syracuse ($3600) – GPP
CBB DFS Core Plays

- Devin Carter – Providence
- Joel Soriano – St. John's
- Tyrell Ward – LSU (if starting)
- Andrew Funk – Penn State
DK GPP:
- Terquavion Smith – NC State

- Otega Oweh – Oklahoma
- K.D. Johnson – Auburn
