College Basketball CBB DFS Top Plays November 8
CBB DFS Top Guards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Jared Bynum | PROV | RID | 8100 | 23.95 | ||
| Bynum is back for Providence and he’ll be running the offense as the lead point guard. He was excellent in the second half of last season after returning from injury and was arguably the Friars’ best player despite coming off the bench. Even though Providence has a ton of new faces, Bynum should still see heavy usage in the backcourt and fill up the stat sheet to be a solid cash play. | ||||||
| Meechie Johnson Jr. | SCAR | SCST | 7600 | 9.52 | ||
| The Ohio State transfer will step into a starting point guard role for South Carolina. He’s priced up a bit more than we’d like, but the usage and offensive role will be there right away. The Gamecocks’ scoring will revolve around Johnson and stud freshman GG Jackson dominating the shot volume. Johnson will also provide assists and ancillary stats from his PG spot. He had 16 points, four assists, and three rebounds in 28 minutes in last week’s exhibition game. | ||||||
| Brandon Murray | GU | COP | 7400 | 19.05 | ||
| Georgetown went through a complete roster overhaul this offseason and Murray will be a top playmaker on the new squad. The LSU transfer was a regular starter last year in the SEC but was usually the fourth or fifth scoring option on the team. Georgetown is desperate for an offensive weapon on the wing and Murray will be exactly that. He’s expensive and maybe more of a GPP play until we see what his role truly is, but the upside for 30+ DFS points is there. | ||||||
| Bryce Hopkins | PROV | RID | 7000 | 4.58 | ||
| How about another transfer? Hopkins barely played off the bench last season at Kentucky, but he’s expected to play a big role for Providence this year. He’s looked like the Friars’ best player during preseason, averaging 15.5 points, six rebounds, and three assists per game across the two exhibitions. Outside of Bynum, it appears Hopkins is a top scoring and playmaking option for Providence already. This team needs to replace the production of Nate Watson, Al Durham, Noah Horchler, AJ Reeves, and Justin Minaya from last year – and Hopkins will take on a ton of two-way responsibility. | ||||||
Also Consider:
- Nendah Tarke – Coppin State ($6400 DK) – GPP
- Wynston Tabbs – East Carolina ($5900 DK) – GPP if playing
CBB DFS Value Guards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Primo Spears | GU | COP | 5700 | 22.71 | ||
| Spears should be Georgetown’s starting point guard with Dante Harris away from the team. The two were battling for the starting gig in preseason and it looks like Spears is the guy by default as long as Harris is out. Spears was a high-usage player and bucket-getter for Duquesne last season and brings a great floor/ceiling combo at an affordable price point tonight. Denver Angelin ($3500) is also a value play who should see more time at PG with Harris out, but Spears is the starter and can give us 5x value. | ||||||
| Kamar Robertson | MERC | ECU | 5200 | 20.5 | ||
| Robertson returns as Mercer’s point guard and he’s a solid cash value for a couple of reasons. First off, the DFS floor should be there because of his proven ball-handling and scoring role in the offense as Mercer will lean on him and James Glisson as the top returners from last season. Plus, this matchup against ECU is the tightest spread on the slate by a big margin and the starters from both sides will play big minutes compared to some of the other big favorites. This is a great price for a possible 5x return. | ||||||
| Quentin Diboundje | ECU | MERC | 3200 | 4.79 | ||
| East Carolina’s starting lineup is one that could open up a ton of value depending on who’s among the first five. First off, we have to monitor Wynston Tabbs’ status ahead of tonight’s game. If he’s out, more value is possible. One name to consider is Tennessee transfer Quentin Diboundje, who followed new head coach Michael Schwartz from the Vols this offseason. That alone should make him more comfortable in the offense and new squad. The upside is there from him to smash value if he’s starting in the ECU backcourt. Other possible starters who would be values are RJ Felton, Jaden Walker, and Benjamin Bayela. | ||||||
| Braden Smith | PUR | UW-MI | 3000 | 0 | ||
| Smith is expected to be Purdue’s starting point guard this season, so this looks like a mispricing. The freshman started in the Boilermakers’ backcourt in the exhibition game and though he didn’t score any points, he did have six rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 20 minutes. Purdue needs to replace a ton of backcourt minutes with Jaden Ivey, Eric Hunter, and Isaiah Thompson gone. Smith will share ball-handling duties with Ethan Morton, Fletcher Loyer, and David Jenkins Jr., but he’s priced significantly lower at the DK minimum. | ||||||
Also Consider:
- Dwight Murray Jr. – Rider ($5300 DK) – Cash/GPP
- Sam Sessoms – Coppin State ($5200 DK) – GPP
- Jaden Walker – East Carolina ($4500 DK) – GPP
- Allen Powell – Rider ($4400 DK) – Cash
- Jalen Cobb – Mercer ($3000 DK) – Cash if starting
- Angelo Stuart – Milwaukee ($3000 DK) – GPP
CBB DFS Top Forwards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Zach Edey | PUR | UW-MI | 8900 | 28.36 | ||
| Edey was a beast in real life and DFS whenever he was on the court last year, though it was only for half the game while splitting time with Trevion Williams. Now that Williams is gone, Edey will step into much more playing time and close to 30 minutes per game now. The 7-foot-4 center will also be Purdue’s top scoring option with Williams and Jaden Ivey departed. Expect the offense to run through him down low as he maintains heavy usage, shot volume, rebounding, and block rates as long as he stays out of foul trouble. Milwaukee’s frontcourt won’t be able to contain him tonight. | ||||||
| Qudus Wahab | GU | COP | 8500 | 16.62 | ||
| At Georgetown two seasons ago, Wahab was a nightly double-double threat with the potential of 30+ DFS points at his best. Then his production and playing time decreased significantly at Maryland last year. Now he’s back with the Hoyas and will present a big mismatch down low against Coppin State tonight. The price tag is expensive, but it’s worth paying up to roster Wahab on this small slate without too many trustworthy top forwards. | ||||||
| Gregory Jackson | SCAR | SCST | 8100 | 0 | ||
| GG Jackson, as he’s more well-known as, comes to South Carolina with a ton of hype as a top recruit and likely NBA Draft lottery pick. The freshman should be a dynamic scorer right away in this easy matchup against SC State. The Gamecocks’ offense will revolve around him and Meechie Johnson all season, so both should be stud plays with high usage. Jackson had 11 points, seven rebounds, a block, a steal, and an assist in 23 minutes of South Carolina’s exhibition game. Expect that stat-stuffing to give him a great DFS floor with the ceiling to go off. | ||||||
Also Consider:
- Hayden Brown – South Carolina ($7700 DK) – GPP
- Caleb Furst – Purdue ($6400 DK) – GPP
CBB DFS Value Forwards
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk | SCAR | SCST | 5500 | 5.7 | ||
| The Illinois transfer is now at South Carolina and will be playing a big role down low on his new team. In last week’s exhibition game, he had 12 rebounds, five points, two assists, and two steals across 19 minutes. Bosmans-Verdonk never really got his chance at Illinois, but the opportunity is there for him to provide 20 DFS points or so with his rebounding chops and secondary role behind GG Jackson and Meechie Johnson. | ||||||
| Shannon Grant | MERC | ECU | 4000 | 10.27 | ||
| Grant is a very interesting value play who has smash potential tonight. He backed up Felipe Haase last year at Mercer’s center spot but should step into the starting lineup this season with Haase gone. Grant actually led Mercer in usage rate (28%) and shot volume (29%) when on the floor last season, but it was only for 10-15 minutes per game. If he’s able to maintain that high involvement for starter-level minutes this year, then 4k is a massive bargain. It also helps that this matchup vs. ECU is the smallest spread on the slate, which bumps up the starters more. | ||||||
| Rafael Castro | PROV | RID | 3300 | 0 | ||
| Judging from Castro’s performances in exhibitions and Ed Cooley’s recent comments, this is a glaring value. The 6-foot-11 redshirt freshman had 18 points and eight rebounds in one preseason game and then four points, eight boards, and four blocks in the other. Castro is a strong candidate to start at center for Providence, and his head coach said this week that he’ll have a big impact. Let’s drink the Kool-Aid because the value is so good for Castro at below 4k. | ||||||
Also Consider:
- James Glisson – Mercer ($6300 DK) – Cash
- Luis Hurtado Jr. – Mercer ($4900 DK) – GPP
- Ahmad Rand – Milwaukee ($4400 DK) – GPP
- Justin Winston – Coppin State ($3400 DK) – Cash
CBB DFS Core Plays
DK Cash:
- Zach Edey – Purdue
- Brandon Murray – Georgetown
- Rafael Castro – Providence (if starting)
DK GPP:
- Gregory (GG) Jackson – South Carolina
- Bryce Hopkins – Providence
- Shannon Grant – Mercer
