Michael JonesSTANWISC900022.61
The Davidson transfer went off in his Stanford debut on Monday. He scored 31 points with five rebounds and three assists while anchoring his new squad to the win. We’ll see if he can keep this up, but it’s encouraging that Jones had a 27% usage rate with 15 shot attempts while getting to the free-throw line 12 times. This price tag is a bit expensive, but it’s worth a shot in GPPs if he goes for 30+ real points again.
Chase HunterCLEMSCAR810013.83
Hunter is one of Clemson’s players who’s benefiting from PJ Hall being out right now. He had 23 points with seven assists in the season opener and recorded team-high’s in usage rate (27%) and shot attempts (17). Hunter showed some upside late last season when he entered the starting lineup and he’ll be needed offensively with Hall out. South Carolina’s defense gave up 77 points to SC State in the opener and could allow Clemson to score plenty here, making Hunter a solid cash or GPP play.
Matthew ClevelandFSUUCF740020.88
Even though he came off the bench last year, Cleveland was always an intriguing talent who could fill up the stat sheet and still played starter-level minutes. Now he’s expected to take on more offensive responsibility with RayQuan Evans and Anthony Polite gone. In the opener, Cleveland had 16 points and seven rebounds as the offense mostly revolved around him and Caleb Mills. The DFS floor will be there for Cleveland to be perfectly fine in cash in a potentially higher-scoring game against UCF.
Malachi SmithGONZMSU680036.33
Smith is an interesting play tonight. Despite not starting in the opener, he still played 30 minutes and scored 15 points with six boards and three assists. He may continue to come off the bench but will log around 25-30 minutes per game in a super-reserve role for the Zags’ backcourt. This is a guy who was a stud for Chattanooga last season and averaged 19.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. He won’t be doing that at Gonzaga with less usage and shot volume, but the talent is still there for him to fill the shoes of Andrew Nembhard.

Also Consider:

  • Caleb Daniels – Villanova ($9900 DK) – GPP
  • Markquis Nowell – Kansas State ($9300 DK) – GPP
  • Julian Strawther – Gonzaga ($6700 DK) – Cash/GPP

Caleb MillsFSUUCF590022.83
As mentioned above, the FSU offense revolved around Mills and Cleveland in the opener. Mills had 12 points with plenty of ancillary stats and his 26% usage rate led the team. Remember that Mills led the ‘Noles in shot share and usage last season and was always a threat to score 20+ real points and 30 DK. He’s a tad too cheap for a guy with plenty of upside and a proven DFS floor with his regular offensive role.
Daivien WilliamsonWAKEUGA580018.51
The Wake offense will feature Williamson in a bigger role this season with Alondes Williams and Jake LaRavia gone. He had 14 points and two assists in the opener but should be more active offensively in a closer game this time around. He scored 25 points in the exhibition game and will take a big leap from his 11.8 PPG average of last year. Plus, more usage results in more ancillary stats and a better DFS floor game-to-game.
Tyson WalkerMSUGONZ530018.01
Michigan State has a ton of cheap guys worth considering in this pace-boost and high-scoring matchup with Gonzaga. Walker is one of them as he splits point guard duties with A.J. Hoggard. It’s tough to tell how the workload and usage will shake out between them moving forward, but both should be plenty involved. Walker had a decent opener with six points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals. We’ll take that at a cheap price here with upside for a bit more against Gonzaga.
Devin AskewCALKSU47006.72
Askew is expected to be Cal’s leading scorer and offensive playmaker running the point after not living up to expectations at Kentucky and Texas in previous years. He scored 19 points in the opener on 20 shot attempts with a 34% usage rate. That’s some heavy involvement right away. Askew is too cheap considering the heavy usage and shot volume he’ll likely see every game for Cal. He makes for a solid cash play and could be popular.
Jabri Abdur-RahimUGAWAKE410012.93
Abdur-Rahim could be starting for Georgia tonight if Moncrieffe is out. The latter is questionable with an ankle injury suffered on Monday. If Abdur-Rahim starts and plays more minutes, he should easily return value. He had eight points, five rebounds, and a block off the bench in the opener while seeing more playing time in the second half when Moncrieffe went out.
Nolan HickmanGONZMSU370010.6
Welcome to one of the biggest mispricings on the slate. Hickman is way too cheap as this $3700 salary is based on his backup role last year. The sophomore is now a starter in the Zags’ backcourt and he’s a popular breakout candidate this season with his increased role offensively running the point with Andrew Nembhard gone. Hickman had six points, five assists, and two rebounds across 22 minutes in Gonzaga’s opener. He’ll split time with Malachi Smith, but Hickman is way cheaper tonight and should be popular in cash.

Also Consider:

  • Khalif Battle – Temple ($5800 DK) – GPP
  • Rasir Bolton – Gonzaga ($5500 DK) – Cash
  • Ithiel Horton – UCF ($5500 DK) – GPP
  • Max Klesmit – Wisconsin ($5400 DK) – Cash
  • Jalen Warley – Florida State ($4900 DK) – Cash
  • Jordan Longino – Villanova ($4700 DK) – GPP

Drew TimmeGONZMSU1010032.19
If Timme is on the slate, we have to consider him in all formats no matter the price tag. First off, his name brand will make him popular in cash right away. Either way, the guy has a proven DFS floor/ceiling combo that rivals anyone in the sport. Timme had 22 points on 19 shot attempts and a 32% usage rate in the season opener. Things get much tougher against Michigan State tonight, but Timme’s heavy involvement on offense won’t go away. Plus, Sparty isn’t as good defensively inside as in recent years.
Gregory JacksonSCARCLEM98000
GG Jackson is mighty expensive after posting 18 points and 10 rebounds in the season opener. The high salary puts him in GPP territory tonight, especially with Drew Timme right above him, but the upside is there for one of the top talents in college hoops. It’s encouraging to see Jackson record a team-high 28% usage rate in the first game as the offense featured him and Hayden Brown a lot.
Hunter TysonCLEMSCAR880021.11
Like Chase Hunter above, Hunter Tyson is really important for Clemson right now with PJ Hall. His teammate’s absence led to 19 points and 13 rebounds in the season opener for Tyson. The heavy offensive usage and active rebounding should continue as long as Hall remains sidelined. It’s a tougher matchup this time against South Carolina, but Tyson is firmly in play for GPPs.
Joey HauserMSUGONZ710017.44
Hauser started the season hot in Michigan State’s opener with 18 points and 10 rebounds while going 4-for-8 from three-point range. Sparty will need another big game from him tonight against Gonzaga. This is a nice pace-boost for Michigan State and Hauser will benefit as he looks like a top scoring option this season. It’s tough to tell how popular he’ll be, but the price tag is really cheap compared to other top players on the slate.

Also Consider:

  • Blake Hinson – Pittsburgh ($9700 DK) – GPP
  • Tyler Wahl – Wisconsin ($9500 DK) – Cash/GPP
  • Emmitt Matthews Jr. – West Virginia ($8300 DK) – GPP

Ian SchieffelinCLEMSCAR60008.53
Schieffelin went off for 20 points, 14 rebounds, and two assists in the opener despite coming off the bench. He still logged starter-level 31 minutes and played a ton with PJ Hall out, which should be the case again tonight. The price tag is high to roster someone who may not start, but the guy is directly benefiting from Hall being sidelined. It’s worth a shot in GPPs.
Lars ThiemannCALKSU590010.64
The 7-foot-1 center had 17 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, two steals, and an assist in the opener. He also had a double-double with three blocks in the exhibition game. Thiemann appears to be Cal’s second offensive option next to Askew and his DFS floor should remain safe tonight with his rebounding and points around the rim.
Anton WatsonGONZMSU560018.77
Watson is too cheap for a guy that’s now starting and playing a bigger role next to Drew Timme in Gonzaga’s frontcourt with Chet Holmgren gone. He put up 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and five steals in the season opener. Expect that stat-stuffing every time out with an increased role for the Zags. He’ll play a ton tonight in a higher-scoring matchup and the DFS floor will be there for cash.
Keyontae JohnsonKSUCAL52000
The Florida transfer is back on the court and with Kansas State after scarily collapsing on the court two years ago. He started and scored 13 points with four assists and two rebounds in a team-high 26 minutes in the opener. It looks like Johnson is a full-go health-wise and he’s too cheap for his new role with K-State. This is a guy who was a stud for Florida before that heart problem.
Malik HallMSUGONZ510017.53
Hall was a fine player off the bench last year for Michigan State and he’s expected to play a bigger role with Gabe Brown and Max Christie gone from the wing. Hall’s versatility is key in this matchup against Gonzaga as he can guard multiple positions and do enough in each stat category to return value. He had five points, seven rebounds, one assist, and three blocks in the opener while playing a team-high 34 minutes.
Michael DurrUCFFSU40003.91
The 7-footer had 11 points and seven rebounds in the opener for UCF. He barely played last year at Indiana but is a nightly double-double threat now in a starting role, just like he was at South Florida two seasons ago. This is too cheap for a starting big man with plenty of rebounding opportunities, especially against a slightly undersized Florida State frontcourt.

Also Consider:

  • Maxime Raynaud – Stanford ($5700 DK) – GPP
  • Federiko Federiko – Pittsburgh ($5400 DK) – Cash
  • Mady Sissoko – Michigan State ($4200 DK) – GPP
  • David N'Guessan – Kansas State ($3800 DK) – GPP
  • Efton Reid – Gonzaga ($3600 DK) – GPP
